🌟 Starr 🌟 This beautiful 3 y/o girl came to us from a commercial breeder. She is about 32 pounds. She was said to be a minibernadoodle although we definitely see some Australian Shepherd in that gorgeous face! Whatever her breed mix, one thing is certain: Starr is incredibly special. When Starr first entered rescue, the world — especially humans — was scary. She simply hadn’t learned that people could be safe, gentle and kind. But over the last several months, Starr has made so much progress. She now walks beautifully on a leash, stays close to her foster mom and wants to be part of whatever is going on around her. She loves stuffies, bones, food and the company of playful, confident dogs. She has even met a cat and did great! 🐶🐱 Her biggest hurdle is still learning to fully trust people. Starr may shy away from direct eye contact, quick movements or someone reaching toward her. She isn’t going to greet her adopter by jumping into their arms. But if you give her time, patience and the freedom to come to you, you’ll start seeing glimpses of the dog hiding underneath all that uncertainty. Starr’s perfect home: -A quieter, predictable home -A calm, patient and confident adopter -At least one resident dog is required to help show her the ropes -Someone willing to provide structure and routine -A family who understands that trust isn’t built overnight -Humans who will celebrate the tiny victories right along with the big ones Starr is crate trained and sleeps comfortably in her crate at night.
