I was FINALLY saved from an extreme hoarding situation - I was waiting my whole life to leave that "life" behind!! And I am SO grateful to the ladies who have taken over a year to save 65 of the 87 dogs I lived with AND are still working to get more out! Just like the classic debate- Left Twix versus Right Twix... both sides together ARE THE BEST! Just like a Twix bar, I am super sweet, a little salty, and really ooey gooey! I was found when I was only 10 months old and brought to God’s Dogs Rescue. I was adopted shortly after but returned due to being a snarky teenager and showing tenacity and energy common with my breeds. Training would have been key! Anyway, since coming back, I have spent almost **4.5 years** living on GDR's ranch property in Texas. I’ve been overlooked all this time and it’s time for that to change! I have now been in a foster home for a few months. It took some time to adjust to being indoors again but I have learned the wonders of ✨air conditioning✨. It also took time to adjust to “less dogs” but I‘m loving my newfound personal space. There are other dogs in my foster home but, at my age, I prefer dogs that match my low energy. I may even be fine as the only dog. Kids, same thing, I prefer ones that are old enough to respect my space and low energy. Certainly no cats or other small animals for me! I still have a tinge of that independent/stubborn streak from my youth but, at the end of the day, I am a BIG LOVER! I get so excited, wiggly, and bouncy with my foster mom. She gives the best scratches and I give the best hair tumbleweeds. I shed A LOT! While living at the rescue, they took great care of me...too good, honestly. I have become fat and happy but the weight has worn down on these ol’ joints. I am on a diet, limited treats, and I am getting joint supplements every day. I am a generally lazy guy but I am amazing on a leash and love to go on walks. More consistent exercise will help with my weight loss. I still have plenty of pep in my step (especially when I‘m on the hunt for squirrels) so don’t let my age or size fool you. I am so ready for my new AND FINAL home! I will melt your heart when you look into my caramel eyes and sweet, chocolatey soul. Don't hesitate, ADOPT ME!! So, as you can see I am a BIG BIG GUY(130#)!!! Like the German Rotties, I have a BIG old HEAD and a propensity to protect my people....... I need just the right home, no other dogs please. I was not socialized with other dogs while growing up and am a big boy and so introducing to other dogs is a challenge for the rescuers and therefore we are looking for a single dog home. I am a very typical rottie and was kept as a protector of the property. I LOVE my people and honestly would love to be a lap dog, lol, but I also need a couple or single who is a strong leader, who really understands my breed and who will assure that I stay safe and others do as well. Now, I have a sweet and loving side, and my friends love that about me ;) But look at my face, without my toothy grin, and you know they understand that I am a serious guy :) I love my peeps and am ready for just the right place. Animal Profile: Copper is an estimated 3-year-old, 80 lb neutered male Doberman with natural ears and a docked tail. He was originally picked up as a stray in Georgia and joined us via Project Freedom Ride. He was evaluated to be very friendly with dogs and people. Foster Update: Copper is young and full of energy, but it's easy to wear him out with some exercise. He loves to chase balls, although he is still working on returning and dropping them. Copper can be cautious around new people, but once he warms up to them (or they give him a treat), he is very affectionate. He is able to make friends with other dogs after slow and proper introductions. With a confident handler, Copper doesn't react much to other dogs when on leash. He likes to lead but does not pull on walks. Adopter Profile: Single family dwelling with a securely fenced yard. No cats or small animals. Large breed experience and breed experience a big plus!
