Meet Wigwam! This 1 year old boy is sweet as can be despite being removed from a less than loving situation. When he came to Hero, he was in desperate need of a shave and there was quite a handsome dog under all that matting! He can be a little nervous at times but his foster family thinks he will warm up quickly with love, patience, and training. He does not like being confined when his foster family goes out due to his past, but does well in the home when there is nothing left out that could get him in trouble. He bonds deeply with people- especially kids! He would be better suited towards older children, as they make him so excited that he can’t help but give them hugs and kisses. He is still a little unsure of male dogs but does not display any aggression to the 2 other dogs in his foster family. Don’t let his small size fool you, he can move! He loves playing fetch and running through the yard. He would love a fenced in yard in his forever home but would do well with any family willing to give him lots of play time. Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption.     Hi, I'm Jeffie Bunny and I'm looking for a very special family because I'm a very special dog. I'm a 3 year old, male Shih Tzu, weighing in at just 16 pounds. I'm partially blind, but I'm really smart, so I've figured out how to get down the steps to the backyard to go potty at my foster's house. I would love a home with another dog who can be my seeing eye dog, but I'm not as fond of cats. I'm looking for a home with a fenced in yard, someone home most of the day and only adults and older children. Because I can't see well, I can be startled when out on walks or by little kids.   I enjoy exercising, but I also know how to relax.     Benji Bunny is an adorable,15 pound, Shih Tzu mix.     My name is Ruckus Bunny and I am a 7 year old, 14 pound, male, Shih Tzu/Jack Russell mix. I love being with my people, so I need someone home most of the time. I prefer a quiet, low key life, so no busy households please. I would really like someone who wants to be a couch potato with me, so I can just lay in your lap or snuggle next to you. Retirees are my favorite people! My foster parents even let me sleep in their bed where I can get good night snuggles and have my sweetest dreams.   I was rescued with four family members, so I would really like to have some doggie siblings about my size to keep me company and play with me when you have to go out. To be honest, I “speak up” when left alone, so I’m not suited for apartments. I am working on potty training and I am doing pretty good when I stay on schedule. I like to climb fences and I can slip through between fence rails. So, if you have a fenced yard, it needs to be a secure one that I cannot slip through. Jetson is an adorable shih tzu mix, born 7-19-17, weighing 25lbs. This little man is dog, cat, and kid friendly! He is working on his house and crate training and enjoys hanging in his play pen. He walks great on leash, stopping to smell everything! He would be a wonderful match for someone that enjoys slow paced strolls. Jetson is low energy and when he is not laying in your lap, he is laying outside in the sunshine! He has great manners with his food, loves to ride in the car, and is just an all-around lovebug! Due to his blindness he would need to be in a single-story home. He is comfortable being out on his pillow and you can put up a baby gate. He doesn&#39t love being in a crate. He does need a fenced in yard as he is not a big walker and loves laying in the sun. He is very smart and is a sweet dog. He will learn his new home quickly even without eyes. Several years ago a good Samaritan in Nashville saved me, I was running down the road. She took me in for 3 years, but couldn't afford to take me to the vet. I developed skin and ear issues so she reached out for someone to take me, and here I am getting the health care I need and responding very well. Yes I'm mostly blind, but I'm a gentle fellow that enjoys being petted. I could spend the day sitting on a lap being company and enjoying a persons company. I'm quiet so I would be fine in a small home with a small fenced yard. I do love to sit in the sun and snooze.
