Your Current Pets - We do require that your current dogs and cats are current on vaccines and spayed/neutered. Adoptions - We do not have a shelter and are a foster-home based organization. We do require that you have an approved adoption application to schedule a meet and greet. You can fill out an adoption application on our website, www.herorescue.org/adopt. Once your application is approved it will be sent to the foster family that is currently caring for the dog. They will be able to provide information on likes, dislikes, personality, etc. They will also schedule a time for you to meet the dog. We do require a home visit prior to adoption. Meet Chance! Chance is a lovable 3-year-old Chihuahua/Shih Tzu mix with a heart as big as his sweet personality. Chance has a head tremor caused by a congenital cerebellar lesion, but it doesn’t slow him down at all. , This was confirmed by a neurology consultation. He’s a happy, affectionate little guy who enjoys life at a relaxed, low-to-moderate energy pace—happy to play a little, go on short walks, or just curl up for cuddles and quiet companionship. He is house-trained and crate-trained, gets along beautifully with dogs, kids, and cats, and greets everyone he meets with warmth and friendliness. Chance is looking for a loving forever home where he can share his gentle, loyal heart every single day. Chance is currently undergoing treatments for heartworm disease. Until he has completed his treatments and is fully recovered, Chance is available for adoption only in the Atlanta area; He must be able to come to Furkids' shelter for treatments. Chance weighs 13lbs and is approximately 3 years old (est. birth date 09/24/2022). Chance has been neutered, is up to date on all vaccinations & preventatives, and is microchipped. Bruno may be small, but he’s got a big personality—and a little spice to go with it! This clever, loyal pup is full of love once he feels safe with you. At first, he can be nervous around new people and situations, but with patience (and maybe a little cheese), his sweet and affectionate side shines through. Because Bruno can become nippy if startled or rushed, he’s looking for an experienced adopter who understands “spicy” dogs and is willing to respect his boundaries. A calm, low-traffic home without children will be the best fit for him. The good news? Bruno has plenty of great qualities to offer his perfect person! Kiwi was born 5/30/25. She is sweet and sassy, a perfect little girl! She is friendly and social with everyone. She likes playing with her toys. She is great with older children. She needs work on housetraining. She is smart and catches on quickly. Adoption fee is 950.00. Thank you for choosing rescue! We are volunteers with other commitments in addition to rescue. Our time is very limited. Therefore, we request a $20.00 donation through paypal in order to process and expedite your application. This shows that you are truly interested in adoption. Family members did step in to try to give Tommy a loving home, but having health issues of their own they found themselves overwhelmed and realized Tommy deserved more than they could provide. So they made the selfless decision to surrender him to RMG and allow him to find a family where he could go on to live his best life! Tommy is great with all dogs and cats. He’s the perfect combination of playful and cuddly, making him such a great little guy. Tommy is, however, “pleasantly plump” so we are looking for an active family who will help him meet his fitness goals so he can live a long and healthy life! Meet Eedy! We rescued Eedy back in May 2025 from a metro area shelter and it’s taken this long (and a lot of TLC) to get her ready for adoption! Severe upper respiratory infection; malnutrition; skin infection….this poor girl had it all when she came to us. But as you can see from the pictures, she’s a new woman now! It’s extremely difficult to guess age on dogs that have been neglected as much as poor Eedy has throughout her lifetime, but we’re going with somewhere between 9-11 years old. She definitely acts like she is on the lower end of that age range now that she’s feeling so so much better. Eedy is great with other dogs and cats, but truly all she wants out of life now is a nice quiet spot in the sun to nap and her very own person to trail along after, helping in the garden on nice days or curling up in front of a cozy fire on a cool evening. Eedy is on some medications that she will likely require for life - thyroid medicine and apoquel. It is possible that with further study to determine what she is allergic to, and maybe dietary changes, the apoquel might be able to be discontinued.
