Story
Say hello to darling Lulu!  If you want a ride or die, unconditionally loving best friend, Lulu is your girl.  She was brought in by a good samaritan that found her running astray in a rural area.  She was two weeks from delivering her pups, and extremely grateful to be welcomed into a warm home.  Lulu wants nothing more than to be with her humans, big or small, no matter if it’s a day on the couch, out on the town, or lounging on boat.  Friendly with dogs, cats, and pestering small children.  She does want to have the upper hand with her doggy siblings, but responds well to verbal reminders that her humans are in charge. Leash walks and car rides are right up her alley.  Please note, we receive a large number of applications. We appreciate your patience as we complete our review processes. A personal interview, reference checks, meet and greet with pet, home visit and a solid vet history are required for adoption.  Apply for consideration to adopt at www.ruffdogrescue.org  ##1918771##

Story
Bonded with her sister DDDD (7 y/o, 11 lb Yorkie) and Sammie (4 y/o, 9 lb Shih-Tzu) are a bonded pair of lap queens – they are looking to be adopted together! Sammie found herself homeless with her sister when their senior mom and her adult son lost their apartment due to medical issues and were forced to live outside. Several people are working to get the humans into housing, but DD and Sammie need a new place to be. They’ve been bouncing around in temporary foster homes for the past three months. The owners have relinquished the dogs knowing that they no longer have the ability to care for them physically or financially. DD is a seven-year-old Yorkie and weighs 11 pounds.    Sammie is a four-year-old Shih-Tzu and weighs 9 pounds.    They are very attached to each other, and we’d like to place them together. They are absolute cuddle bugs and if you’re a couch potato, these could be the dogs for you.  Sammie loves women and is cautious of men.  She really wants a mama that will hold her all the time and wants to bond with one person.  She is the best work buddy ever and will sit on your lap all day while you're in zoom meetings.  She likes a calm household where she can feel safe.  She does not want to be around kids that will grab her and treat her like a toy. She is working on potty training and doing great but will still have pee accidents in the house if you don’t take her out regularly.  She needs a very consistent routine where she is taken out every 3 hours as she learns to potty outside. Their previous owners never took them out and only used pee pads so potty training is new to both of them. Continued house training will need to be a priority in her new home. She loves to sleep in the bed with you and she sleeps through the night.  She is pretty quiet when she's hanging out with her mama, but she'll bark if other dogs bark and she'll bark at people that walk in the room if she isn't bonded with them.  So basically, she is yappy like most small dogs.    She is good with cats and other dogs, but she doesn’t care to interact or play with either unless she feels safe and the dog is small. She does romp and play with her sister DD.  She is not the right dog for someone that is gone from the house all day at work.  She would be great with a woman that works from home or is retired. She is crate trained. She is spayed, heartworm negative and current on her vaccines. Sammie is afraid of fast movements so a home with young children is not ideal for her. Please let us know if you’re interested in adopting. You won’t regret it!   She is precious and easy to fall in love with. Age: 4yr Weight:  9lbs Temperament: Sammie loves women, is ok with some men; prefer childfree home; ok with dogs and cats Training: Crate- and potty pad trained; working on potty outside Vetting: Spayed, up-to-date on vaccines and heartworm negative Contact: doggieharmonyatlanta@gmail.com (Amy) We are 100% donation-funded and our fees are equivalent to (or less than) the cost to fully vet a new dog yourself. Please expect an adoption fee; some of our urgent or long-term dogs have discounted fees.March 1, 2024, 5:31 pm

Story
I was part of a backyard breeding operation. Once I was rescued I was so happy to be out of a tiny cage. I wasn't taken care of very well. I have been neutered, and I've had the one tooth I had in my head pulled. My bloodwork looks good. Since I lived most of my life in a cage I need some work with my potty training. If you like a Shih Tzu I'm your typical one. Loving, and independent. My coloring is dark brown and white. I know the photo's aren't that flattering, but I'm a good looking fellow.

Story
Several years ago a good samaritan in Nashville saved me, I was running down the road. She took me in for 3 years, but couldn't afford to take me to the vet. I developed skin and ear issues so she reached out for someone to take me, and here I am getting the health care I need and responding very well. Yes I'm mostly blind, but I'm a gentle fellow that enjoys being petted. I could spend the day sitting on a lap being company and enjoying a persons company. I'm quiet and I would be fine in a small home with a small fenced yard because I love to sit in the sun and snooze.
