Several years ago a good samaritan in Nashville saved me, I was running down the road. She took me in for 3 years, but couldn't afford to take me to the vet. I developed skin and ear issues so she reached out for someone to take me, and here I am getting the health care I need and responding very well. Yes I'm mostly blind, but I'm a gentle fellow that enjoys being petted. I could spend the day sitting on a lap being company and enjoying a persons company. I'm quiet and I would be fine in a small home with a small fenced yard because I love to sit in the sun and snooze.

I was part of a backyard breeding operation. Once I was rescued I was so happy to be out of a tiny cage. I wasn't taken care of very well. I have been neutered, and I've had the one tooth I had in my head pulled. My bloodwork looks good. Since I lived most of my life in a cage I need some work with my potty training. If you like a Shih Tzu I'm your typical one. Loving, and independent. My coloring is dark brown and white. I know the photo's aren't that flattering, but I'm a good looking fellow.

It appears that I spent a great deal of time on my own. When I was rescued I had mats on my mats and it took hours to clean me up. My photos are a before and an after. I’m new to rescue so all I can tell you is I NEVER WANT TO BE NEGLECTED AGAIN, it was so painful I screamed. I’m fine with other rescue pups and I’m getting better every day. Skipper was born Sept 2023. Adorable and friendly! he should be under 15 lbs as an adult. he loves everyone including dogs and children! Surrendered with sibling. They became too old to sell to a store. They were surrendered to rescue for that reason. Needs work on housetraining. They are currently in boarding in the midwest. Transport is available to the NE or south. Adoption fee is 950.00 and includes transport. Thank you for choosing rescue! We are volunteers with other commitments in addition to rescue. Our time is very limited. Therefore, we request a $20.00 donation through paypal in order to process and expedite your application. This shows that you are truly interested in adoption. Meet Henry! Henry, a 6-years-old, 10lb, Shih Tzu is just the cutest ever! We met him on a trip to a metro Atlanta area shelter who was about to euthanize a bunch of dogs because of overcrowding. Henry had been surrendered to the shelter when his human “mom” and “dad” broke up. As soon as we met him we couldn’t believe anyone could ever give him up! He’s super low maintenance and spends his days with all four paws in the air while he naps. But don’t let his tiny size fool you, there’s nothing he enjoys more than a brisk walk. He comes alive and jumps for joy as soon as he hears his leash rattling. But if it’s raining and he can’t go on a walk then he happily sleeps the day away in his crate and nobody would know that he missed his daily exercise. His crate is his sanctuary but he does like being within reach of his favorite human. His tail wags whenever a human is near or he rolls onto his back looking for free belly rubs. Henry does have a very common condition known as “cherry eye”. We are trying a course of medicated eye drops to see if we can reduce the cherry eye that way, but if that is unsuccessful we will get him right in for surgery. It’s a surgery we’ve had done on tons and tons of dogs - very routine and no one will ever know there was ever an issue once he has healed.
