Meet August! Back in early May, we made a visit to a metro area shelter after they had sent out an urgent plea for help. As we were walking through the back rooms of the shelter, where the public doesn’t go, August caught our attention. Not because he was acting crazy trying to get attention, but because he didn’t even lift his head to look at us as we approached his kennel. Not sure if he was scared or shy or what was going on, we opened up his kennel and found that he was actually very sick. As we held him, we could feel him wheezing - he had the dreaded upper respiratory infection so so common in that shelter. There was no way we were leaving him there! August (aka Auggie) has come so so far in the four months he has been with us! From being so sick he couldn’t even lift his head in his kennel at the shelter to super scared of strangers to a sweet happy boy….we are so so proud of his progress! Just goes to show you what a huge difference a little TLC can make and why fostering is such an important part of animal rescue! Auggie is about 7 1/2 years old and great with other dogs and cats. He’s a chill guy who lives for car rides! Even though Auggie has been enjoying the company of his four legged foster brothers, he would also be just fine being an only fur child. All he wants out of life is his very own person with a fairly quiet lifestyle who will take him on plenty of car rides! Interested in adopting Auggie?
