Hello Curtis Loew!! The original Curtis Loew may have been a fictional character but this guy is as real as they get!  While in the shelter, Curtis was known as “Grumpy” and wasn’t getting much attention from staff because of his bad attitude. A few of our volunteers so something in him though and just knew all he needed was a chance. Well, it turns out poor Curtis didn’t have a bad attitude, he was in pain! One of his eyes was severely infected - not sure if from a previous injury or what had happened but this boy was definitely hurting! A trip to the vet confirmed that not only did that eye did indeed need to be removed but he also has limited vision in the other eye. The offending eye has now been removed and Curtis is feeling so so much better and is, as the saying goes, “blind in one eye and can’t see out of the other”. Or can’t see much anyway.  Curtis’s vision loss hasn’t slowed him down one bit though! This 4-5 yr old Shih Tzu learned the lay out of his foster home in no time and gets along just fine! He’s great with other dogs and almost completely house trained. His favorite things in the whole world are his toys and cuddle time with foster mom! You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.  Do Not Apply for a pet with PENDING in the name bar.  They have been matched with a home, but not adopted yet. Skipper was born Sept 2023. Adorable and friendly! he should be under 15 lbs as an adult. he loves everyone including dogs and children! Surrendered with sibling. They became too old to sell to a store. They were surrendered to rescue for that reason. Needs work on housetraining. They are currently in boarding in the midwest. Transport is available to the NE or south. Adoption fee is 950.00 and includes transport.    Thank you for choosing rescue! We are volunteers with other commitments in addition to rescue. Our time is very limited. Therefore, we request a  $20.00  donation through paypal in order to process and expedite your application. This shows that you are truly interested in adoption. Your application will remain on file for a year. Applications are available at www.eastcoasthumanesociety.com under forms/application. Donation should be made through Paypal at www.eastcoasthumanesociety.com. We are only available by phone after you have an approved application. All pets are located in the southeast. Transport is available to the NE for an additional $300.00 transport fee. We do not adopt in MA, RI due to import laws. Residents MUST pick up in CT. All dogs over 8 months will be spayed or neutered and heartworm tested. All dogs and puppies have been vaccinated,microchipped, dewormed and treated for other parasites. Please read the FAQ on our website for additional information.     Hi, dog lovers, especially small ones. Dogs, not small people. Haha! Small humans are also great, although I haven’t been around many.  I’m new to Angels, so I took a few days to get my bearings. But now I’m ready to tell you about me.  I’m supposed to be some terrier-poodle mix. Foster Mom wonders if there’s some Dachshund hiding in me. I don’t know; that’s just what the humans say. I’m 4 years old and really sweet, love being loved on and a pretty good lap warmer.  I’m mostly potty trained, but really just trying to get my Foster Mom to get with my program. I like toys and especially playing fetch, but I love going outside. I can play fetch there, too, and have more room to run. The terrier in me loves to sniff stuff outside. What kind of dog are you looking for? I’m really pretty happy but still a little jumpy after my stint at the vet’s. I'm not a big fan of vets! My foster home is much more relaxing and quiet. I like to relax! I also like to bark when I hear stuff outside that might be a danger to my people or greet you when you come home so you can start paying attention to me. Foster Mom says condominiums and apartments might not be the best for me.  So, if you think I’m your kind of guy, you need to apply for me. The Angel people will do the rest. Several years ago a good samaritan in Nashville saved me, I was running down the road. She took me in for 3 years, but couldn't afford to take me to the vet. I developed skin and ear issues so she reached out for someone to take me, and here I am getting the health care I need and responding very well. Yes I'm mostly blind, but I'm a gentle fellow that enjoys being petted. I could spend the day sitting on a lap being company and enjoying a persons company. I'm quiet and I would be fine in a small home with a small fenced yard because I love to sit in the sun and snooze.

I was part of a backyard breeding operation. Once I was rescued I was so happy to be out of a tiny cage. I wasn't taken care of very well. I have been neutered, and I've had the one tooth I had in my head pulled. My bloodwork looks good. Since I lived most of my life in a cage I need some work with my potty training. If you like a Shih Tzu I'm your typical one. Loving, and independent. My coloring is dark brown and white. I know the photo's aren't that flattering, but I'm a good looking fellow.

Luckys mom died. I am no longer able to care for Lucky because I care for my 88-year-old mother-in-law who has fallen twice. Lucky is 13 years old .He is very sweet and calm. He is house trained. He is lovable. He was in an accident when he was younger and lost an eye. Lucky gets a long well with other dogs. I love him and want to keep him but I am not able. My mother-in-law ended up in the hospital last time she tripped over him. I need help soon
