He does guard his food and toys and kids don't understand that. He’s not keen on being picked up by people he doesn’t know. Once you have earned his trust he’s your best bud! His owner lost her apartment and had to surrender him. He takes a few minutes to warm up after that very affectionate with his people. He would be great for someone retired, who wants a companion. Age: 5 years Weight: 18 lbs Temperament: Gets along with other dogs, adults, no small kids Training: Housetrained, crate-trained, has basic training Vetting: neutered, up-to-date on vaccines, heartworm negative Email for questions: To ensure we're meeting both pet and adopters' needs, we ask potential adopters to complete an Adoption Application (www.bit.ly/DH-Adoption) for caretakers to review. Meet Lottie! Lottie is a five year or Shih-Tzu mix. She is Ann awesome little lady! She is fully grown and weighs 13 pounds. She is crate trained and is working on house training. Lottie does great with other dogs and with kids. However, she does love to chase cats so she will need a home without cats. Lottie LOVES playing with toys and playing in the pool! Meet August! Back in early May, we made a visit to a metro area shelter after they had sent out an urgent plea for help. As we were walking through the back rooms of the shelter, where the public doesn’t go, August caught our attention. Not because he was acting crazy trying to get attention, but because he didn’t even lift his head to look at us as we approached his kennel. Not sure if he was scared or shy or what was going on, we opened up his kennel and found that he was actually very sick. As we held him, we could feel him wheezing - he had the dreaded upper respiratory infection so so common in that shelter. There was no way we were leaving him there! August (aka Auggie) has come so so far in the four months he has been with us! From being so sick he couldn’t even lift his head in his kennel at the shelter to super scared of strangers to a sweet happy boy….we are so so proud of his progress! Just goes to show you what a huge difference a little TLC can make and why fostering is such an important part of animal rescue! Auggie is about 7 1/2 years old and great with other dogs and cats. He’s a chill guy who lives for car rides! Even though Auggie has been enjoying the company of his four legged foster brothers, he would also be just fine being an only fur child. All he wants out of life is his very own person with a fairly quiet lifestyle who will take him on plenty of car rides! Interested in adopting Auggie?
