Then Dennis is your man! He's a little Shih Tzu with a PhD in Friendship and a minor in Following You Everywhere. Dennis is super friendly, loves people and wants nothing more than to be right by your side at all times. Because he loves his humans so much, Dennis can struggle with a bit of separation anxiety. He’s not being dramatic — he just truly believes life is better when you’re together. A home where someone is around more often (or willing to help him build confidence over time) would be ideal. The good news? He gets along great with other dogs, so a friendly canine buddy might be just what the doctor ordered to help him feel secure. We also have discovered that Dennis is heartworm positive, but with treatment provided by K-9 Lifesavers, he'll be healthy and ready to find his forever home.     At 12 pounds, Dennis is the perfect portable size — big enough to keep up with you, small enough to tuck under your arm like the precious treasure he is. Dennis isn’t just looking for a house, he’s looking for his person. So, if you’ve been searching for a tiny shadow with a huge heart, apply today — Dennis is ready to stick by your side for life. To learn more about heartworm please visit: https://www.webmd.com/pets/dogs/features/heartworms-in-dogs-facts-and-mythsYour new pet will require a refresher in house-training. K-9 Lifesavers strongly recommends all new adopters enroll their new pet into obedience training. This provides for an easier transition into a new home, ensures the dog remains well socialized, and helps form a bond between the dog and the new family.    Adoption fees cover basic vetting, rabies (if puppy is old enough), distemper/parvo vaccinations, deworming, monthly heartworm prevention while in our care (if old enough), monthly flea/tick prevention while in our care, and transport costs. K-9 Lifesavers will also cover the cost of spay/neuter at our partner vet at 6 months of age or reimburse adopter for up to the amount of our partner vet cost should you choose to spay/neuter at your own vet.Foster Program:    Foster homes provide for the temporary care of a rescue until the dog is placed into a loving, forever home.  For more information on becoming a foster parent, and our Foster Program, visit http://www.k-9lifesavers.org/foster/ or email our Foster Coordinator at foster@k-9lifesavers.orgSPONSOR ME! Help Save Lives!    Make a tax-deductible donation today and help save a life. Story
Gizzy is a 14yr old senior girly that is in excellent health. She spends most of her time napping but she also enjoys walks or simply sunbathing on the porch. She is very low key. She is looking for an adult only household. Young children are too much for this girl at her older age. She is fully house trained and will use a doggy door. She enjoys napping next to her person. She doesn’t require much at all- just someone home most of the day that will take her out to potty. She prefers a peaceful, quiet environment to spend the remainder of her days. She does NOT do crates! She must be able to sit on the furniture and sleep in bed with her person! She likes to sleep in and she does not shed.

Story
Mina Paws is a rare and beautiful black Shih Tzu girl who is estimated to be about 7-8 years old, though you might never guess it by looking at her bright expression and those surprisingly beautiful teeth. This sweet little lady weighs about 17 pounds and has recently begun a new chapter in life after losing the only home she had ever known.   Sadly, when her owner passed away, Mina’s life took a heartbreaking turn. The remaining family members left her outside for a period of time, and this gentle girl went from being someone’s companion to being neglected and forgotten. By the time rescue was able to step in, Mina was in very poor condition. Her coat had thinned drastically from untreated skin issues, her nails had grown so long they were nearly curling into her paw pads, and she was understandably frightened and confused. But even through all of that, Mina’s sweet spirit was still there waiting to shine again.   With proper veterinary care, treatment for her skin, and the kindness of a loving foster home, Mina has been transforming day by day. Her hair has almost completely grown back in, her skin is healing beautifully, and she is beginning to look like the lovely Shih Tzu girl she was born to be. Even more importantly, her heart is healing too.   Mina can be a little shy at first when meeting new people, which is understandable after everything she has been through. But once she feels safe, her affectionate personality blossoms. She loves to cuddle, happily settling into a warm lap where she feels most content. She has even started to rediscover the joy of play as she slowly lets go of the sadness from her past. It’s truly wonderful to watch her greet each new day with a little more confidence and happiness.   Mina Paws also gets along beautifully with other animals. She lives peacefully with both dogs and cats and enjoys their quiet companionship. She would do well in a calm home where she can continue to feel safe, loved, and cherished.   This sweet senior girl is fully vetted and ready for the next chapter of her life. She has been spayed, microchipped, fully vaccinated, heartworm tested negative, and has even had a complete senior bloodwork panel to ensure she is healthy moving forward.  All Mina wants now is a gentle home where she will never again have to wonder if she is loved.   If you are interested in giving this precious girl the safe and happy future she deserves, please write to Critter Cavalry Rescue at ccrtennessee@gmail.com and tell us where you live.   Mina Paws is currently in Nashville, TN, and we also transport every to families in the northeastern region.   PLEASE NOTE:  Our dogs are transported from Tennessee to meeting places in the states where we have posted.  Further information about us is given on our Adopt-A-Pet site.  The adoption fees vary and will be provided as well as noted on the application you receive.  Contact us at 615-661-5333 or ccrnewengland@gmail.comMarch 9, 2026, 9:09 pm

Story
Meet Jace 🐾 Jace is a 14-month-old sweetheart that i’ve had since he was 12 weeks old. He is fun, quirky, playful, and a big baby at heart; he loves cuddles, belly rubs, and being close to his person. He thrives on companionship and attention. This is a very hard decision, but my schedule no longer allows me to give him the time and engagement he deserves. I want him to have the happiest, fullest life possible. I am looking for a loving, responsible home that understands the commitment of a young dog and can dedicate time, structure, and affection to him. My priority is the right fit, not rushing the process. Please reach out and tell me about your lifestyle if you think you’d be a good match for Jace.

Story
Meet Darlene! This tiny Shih Tzu girl was found starving to death locked in an abandoned home in DC alongside another dog. Darlene survived, but her friend - the other dog - did not. Fortunately, she made her way to Miri's Haven and is thriving in recovery. Darlene is steadily gaining weight and slowly, tenderly coming out of her shell. Watching her figure out that the world can be kind has been such a sweet thing to witness. Once she realized that she's allowed to want things, Darlene made it clear that she absolutely loves 1) attention and 2) food. If her foster mom is petting one of the other dogs, she will sprint over like the annoying little sibling who must IMMEDIATELY be included. She is pretty much game to do anything along as she's doing it with a person! Darlene is still polishing up her house manners as she settles in and builds routine. She enjoys going for leash walks; she's less of a fan of car rides. She sees and hears well and can go up and down stairs with no problem. She has started learning some tricks, as she is very treat motivated, and loves chasing balls. She especially loves snuffle mats filled with hidden treats - she'll search and sniff with focus and confidence until she's found every last one. She will sometimes try to nosh on things that aren't exactly food (e.g., socks) so it's good to keep an eye on her. Darlene does not like to be alone, which is understandable considering what she has been through. She has started medication to help manage her separation anxiety, and will need a patient forever family committed to helping her work through it. Darlene is hoping to find a home with people who are home a lot, love to snuggle and play with her, and will take her on lots of walks and fun adventures. She'll do best in a home without young children and with at least one other dog to help her continue building her confidence. She thrives with structure and a predictable routine and will do best in a home that's generally calm and quiet. She'd also love to have a fenced in yard to explore! Darlene is blossoming in her own tiny, hilarious, stubborn, determined way. If you can be the one to make her next chapter is her best chapter, apply to meet her today! Darlene is approximately 6 years old and 10 lbs. Fostered in Warrenton, VA Please apply at MirisHaven.org

Story
King has been apart of our family since he was born in 2021, we have grown to love him so much. Recently my daughter had my first grandson and King is having a hard time adjusting to this new family member. He used to love my daughter but now he snaps at her and sometimes at my son. We have tried to get him adjusted to the baby, but I am not willing to take the chance of him snapping on my Grandson. He needs a lot of love and attention, but is a sweetheart when he is getting everything he wants. I believe King will be happy in a home where it is just him, not sure if he will be good with other pets, maybe a cat but not sure of a dog since he has been our only pet. King loves to eat, take nice walks and play with his toys. May hope is to find him a nice loving home that he can get all the attention and love for himself!!
