Story
(01/04/26) FOSTER OR FOREVER HOME NEEDED Meet Haunter! Haunter is a 4-year-old, 15 lb Shih Tzu/Pekingese mix with the cutest little underbite and a soft, fluffy coat. He’ll need a home committed to regular grooming to keep him comfortable and looking his best. Haunter came to us from a difficult past where he missed out on early socialization, and because of that, the outside world can feel overwhelming for him. He is very fearful in unfamiliar environments, especially with loud noises and busy surroundings, and he will need continued support learning the basics—including leash walking—at his own pace. For this reason, Haunter will do best in a standalone home with a fully fenced yard. Apartments or high-traffic living situations would not be a good fit for him. At heart, Haunter is a gentle, loving boy who just wants to feel safe. He loves being close to his person, enjoys being held, and prefers a calm, predictable lifestyle. He has not shown to be a high-energy or playful dog and would thrive in a quiet home where he can move at his own pace while slowly building confidence with the world. Haunter would do well as an only dog with an adopter committed to patient, positive socialization, or in a home with a laid-back, calm dog companion who can peacefully coexist and help him feel more secure. He will need a patient, understanding adopter—ideally someone experienced with shy or fearful dogs—who can help him learn that the world doesn’t have to be scary. This sweet boy has so much love to give and is looking for a soft place to land with someone who will give him the time, structure, and compassion he deserves. Haunter is UTD on vaccinations, microchipped, and neutered. His adoption fee is $500.

Story
Gold Fish is a Shih Tzu/ toy Poodle puppy. He is a sweet pup with a big heart. He likes to play with his toys and can self-entertain, though he prefers human interaction. Goldfish is learning to play fetch with a poof ball and loves being praised when he returns it. He loves cats, but can sometimes be a bit too energetic for them. Goldfish enjoys Zoom meetings and is an excellent office companion. He will happily play and nap while his person works from home. Goldfish sleeps in a crate at night with his foster sister. After a few whimpers, he goes right to sleep and generally sleeps through the night. He likes a nightlight in the room. During the day, he will sometimes choose to sleep in his crate for naps, though he prefers to nap in a bed or lap near his people. Goldfish does a good job of going to the bathroom outside each morning. He will also go potty outside anytime he is outdoors. When in his room/pen, he usually goes on the mat. However, when out in the larger areas of our house, he tends to go wherever is convenient, so he needs help learning to go win appropriate places. Goldfish is playful and snuggly when in a room with his people, however, when left alone in a room, he tends to whimper for a minute until he settles. He is good with cats and dogs and Ok riding in a car. He is one terrific little dog! -----

A Quick but Important Note to All Adopters:
Please remember that none of our dogs arrive fully trained. Most come from tough or uncertain beginnings and may have never lived in a home or known basic routines. That means:

✧ They are not potty trained on arrival. Most dogs regress in potty training when moving to a new environment.

✧ They may lack basic manners (like leash walking or appropriate chewing).

✧ They’re learning, growing, and doing their best—but they will need patience, structure, and compassion to succeed.

The majority of these pups have lived in the confinement of a cage or kennel run for most - if not all - of their lives. Because of this, we strongly discourage the use of crates for anything other than vehicle transport. They deserve the chance to decompress and learn what true freedom and comfort feel like.

Our amazing foster homes work hard to start these dogs on the right path, but they are rescues, not finished products. These dogs need time, consistency, and a loving home willing to meet them where they are.

Also, breed designations are our best guesses based on appearance and behavior. We can't guarantee breed, size, adult weight, or coat type.

Story
Top Knot is a Shih Tzu puppy and he loves to play with toys. He's very good with other dogs and cats. He sleeps in the bedroom near his humans in a pack n play. He does not want to be right in the bed, but does not want to be alone. During the day he sleeps in the office on a rug. He watches the other dogs go on a mat and will go on it occasionally and then, sometimes he just goes wherever he is. He is very timid and afraid so when he goes somewhere other than the mat we give him general encouragement to use the mat instead. We just clean it up and move on. He was used to cleaning up after himself (yuck) when he was in his kennel, so picking it up very quickly to try to stop him from doing that is good. He is nervous around every one. I think he will grow out of this but he's just not there yet. His good with other dogs, cats, and cars. He's very sweet and if you can win his trust he is just going to need some extra effort to get to the point where he trusts humans. He is so sweet and he deserves lots of love and care. -----

Story
Bouffant is a 2 year old Shih Tzu. She’s a bit shy around other animals (cats and dogs) but not aggressive. She is still opening up a bit, but only time will tell. She has experience around other small dogs, but not around big dogs or high energy dogs. She likes to be carried around and snuggle on laps. She is not timid or aggressive. She sleeps in the bed. She has a play pen but she escaped by climbing the side so that does not work. “ So far pretty good with potty time as long as she goes outside a lot. She does not like the rain much. She is nervous around the cats and dogs a bit but may warm up with time. She does not like it when other dogs are barking. She is sweet and gentle and not all that playful yet. She probably just needs some time to come out of her shell as time goes on. -----

Story
Beef Jerky is a Shih Tzu puppy with a curious spirit, a playful side, and just the right amount of cuddle. He’s the perfect little sidekick who loves being near his people—following you from room to room—but doesn’t need to be glued to you 24/7. BeefJerky is a confident little explorer who enjoys checking out his surroundings, playing with toys, and having the occasional playful wrestle with other small dogs. That said, he’s also grown comfortable being a solo pup and would do just fine as your one-and-only or with a canine companion. He’s not possessive of his humans and has shown no signs of aggression—just a happy, curious puppy figuring out the world. He’s great with kids, though like many puppies, he appreciates his space when he’s tired and may give a gentle “hands off” warning. He’s perfectly comfortable being handled by his trusted humans and absolutely loves greeting you with sweet little kisses. Beef Jerky is already picking up on some basics—he knows how to sit and is working on “lay down.” He’s very food motivated (which helps a lot with training!) and has no issues around food. He’s doing well with puppy pads most of the time, though he’s still learning, and hasn’t quite figured out going potty outside yet—but he does love exploring the yard. At night, he sleeps in a crate or playpen and does well. He may wake up briefly for a little nighttime wiggle or play, but settles back down easily. He’s comfortable in his crate and has even made it his little treasure den—don’t be surprised if your socks or shoes mysteriously disappear and end up tucked away with him! 😆 He also has a soft spot for cozy spaces like baskets, where he keeps his favorite blankets and toys. BeefJerky rides well in the car after a short adjustment period and has even done great in a backpack carrier while out and about. He’s a quiet, adaptable pup who just wants to be part of the action—whether that’s playtime, adventure time, or winding down at home. BeefJerky is truly a sweet, silly, and lovable little guy who’s ready to find his forever home. Whoever adopts him is getting a loyal companion with a playful heart and lots of love to give. -----

Story
Bosier is a darling little Shih Tzu puppy with a personality that’s equal parts sweet, snuggly, and spunky. This amazing little guy might be a bit hesitant if you reach right for him, but the moment you get down on his level, he’s all in—trotting over to climb into your lap for cuddles like he’s known you forever. Bosier has that perfect puppy balance—he loves to play, chase his toys, and show off his impressive fetch skills (seriously, he’ll retrieve like a pro and bring the ball right back every time!), but he’s just as happy curling up beside you, in your lap, or in his cozy bed for a nap. At night, he’s a total dream, sleeping soundly in bed with his people—usually perched on a pillow where he can catch a little breeze from the fan. He’s already off to a fantastic start with his potty training. Bosier is very consistent with potty pads and also goes outside first thing in the morning and after playtime. Like any puppy, he’s still learning to let you know when he needs to go out, but he’s doing so well and picking things up quickly. He eats and drinks great (though he can get a little distracted—there are toys to play with, after all!), and does best when he has a calm space to finish his meals. Bosier is respectful, gentle, and gets along beautifully with other dogs. He takes correction well and only needed one reminder about giving other pups space during mealtime. He can live with cats too—he might be curious if they run, but once he gets close, he just wants to sniff and say hello. He hasn’t been around very young kids yet, but he’s friendly and responsive, so with guidance, he should do just fine. He may get a little excited and jump, but with his tiny legs and eagerness to learn, it’s easily manageable. He rides great in the car, does wonderfully during bath time, and is overall a pretty quiet pup—he doesn’t bark much, but will give you a little alert when someone comes through the front door. Bosier absolutely adores people and will happily nap wherever his humans are—on the couch, in his bed nearby, or curled up right next to you. While he loves his brother, he’s also perfectly comfortable doing his own thing and settling in independently. This sweet boy truly is something special. So many of the typical puppy challenges have already been worked through, making Bosier an absolute dream for someone ready to welcome a loving, playful, and cuddly companion into their life. -----
