Story
Rhyli came to BENCHS from another shelter with his brother, Bayli, and he is ready to find a family to call his own. At just over a year old, he is all teenager, full of curiosity, energy, and personality. He loves to romp around, explore, and is always looking for his next adventure. Rhyli is a smart boy who is just beginning to learn the ropes. He has recently started clicker training and is enjoying the challenge of learning new skills. Like many young dogs, he is still working on his manners and learning appropriate boundaries. Because of his enthusiasm and strength, he would do best with a confident, consistent handler who can continue building on his training in a positive way. We are unsure what breed Rhyli is, but he has a medium length coat that does shed. He would likely be a little more allergy friendly than a typical heavy shedding breed. He enjoys playing with toys, chewing on bones, and would thrive in an active home that can provide plenty of exercise and mental enrichment. Since we are unsure whether Rhyli has ever lived in a home before, he may need patience as he learns potty training and household routines. He previously lived with his brother and enjoyed having a canine companion, so we believe he could do well with another dog following a slow and thoughtful introduction. Because Rhyli is still learning boundaries and can be a bit exuberant, he would do best in a home without very small children or elderly family members. With continued training, structure, and lots of love, this goofy young dog has all the potential to grow into an incredible lifelong companion. If you're looking for a fun, active best friend who is eager to learn and ready for his next chapter, Rhyli just might be your perfect match.

Story
Ozzy is a sweet and loving 3.5 year old Saint Berdoodle. He had an unexpected addition to his family and with the new infant his owners do not have the time he deserves. He's a lover, especially to kids and mom, but defends the home and will bark at new people. In public, he does not bark at others. He has never been aggressive. He takes Prozac which helps separation anxiety, but likely would not need it if owners do not work long hours away from home.He joined us at 4 months of age and to our knowledge he has never been abused, but prefers females and children. He is anxious at the groomers, especially with his paws, but does well with a patient groomer. He was crate trained when he was young, but was extremely stressed by the crate and does much better with free reign of the house. He is great with kids, but is big (84lbs) and would do best with kids that are age 5 or older.

Story
**Currently Residing in a Foster Home.**I’m Merlin, a handsome 3-year-old grey Standard Poodle with a soft heart and a gentle soul. I was found as a stray, and when no one came to claim me, I made my way to Animal Ark to start fresh. I’m a sweetheart through and through. I am sensitive, smart, and eager to bond with someone who understands me. I do best in a calm home with adults or older teens (16+), where I can feel safe, loved, and appreciated for the loyal companion I’m ready to be. I do need a home with a fenced-in backyard. I may have had a mysterious beginning, but I’m hoping my next chapter is full of comfort, kindness, and a family who sees just how great I am.

Story
“BOBO” is a happy 7-year-old (06/24/2019), neutered, apricot AKC Standard Poodle who weighs 51 pounds and is 25 ½ inches tall. BoBo’s records show that had been called “Boaz”, but his previous owner called him “Bo”. While Bo is a cute name, the one syllable word made it sound more like “No”. So, with the help of various people and the staff at Barrington Oaks Veterinary Hospital (thank you, Kat!) it was decided to call this cute boy “BoBo”! Perfect! BoBo, (who likes his new name) had been deeply loved and well cared for by a senior couple. Sadly, after the couple’s health began to fail, they could not keep up with the care of BoBo. The family stepped in and provided care for their parents while BoBo came to us. BoBo is a RARE OPPORTUNITY for the right family! Despite all that Bobo has endured, he is a VERY friendly, sociable and loving boy who greatly enjoys being with us and everyone he meets. He follows us around the house, greatly enjoys attention that people give him when we are out in public and if you don’t pet him, he will use his muzzle to get your attention. He has been a perfect house dog (housetrained), so he has free access to our home all the time, even when we are gone and at night. While he has been an only dog, he likes our older Standard Poodles but really would enjoy playing tag with another large dog. BoBo is a typical Standard Poodle that has a strong hunting instinct. He will chase the squirrels (and any other rodent) that come into our backyard, bark at the deer who look at him and sniffs out a treat that has been misplaced. BoBo loves going for our daily 2-mile walk. Just grab his leash and he knows what’s going to happen next: “A WALK!! Yeah! Let’s go so I can see some more people and squirrels!” BoBo does pull on the leash but is learning to walk a little slower. BoBo also greatly enjoyed watching all the people and the Sauk Rapids Girls Varsity tennis team playing in Big Lake. *A SECURLEY FENCED YARD WILL BE RECOMMENDED. *You must be physically able to handle a Standard Poodle. *Preference will be given to a family with past Poodle experience. *PLEASE: *NO cats and NO small dogs as he will chase them. *No aggressive or assertive dogs as they scare him and me. *Like most all rescue groups, we do NOT adopt our Poodles to homes more than 1 day’s drive (round trip) from our location here in central Minnesota. As pictured on our web site, we had to shave BoBo naked because he was so badly matted. Our Vet had to sedate BoBo to remove the massive balls of hair that were growing down into his ear canal. They were then able to flush his ears clean and insert an Oto Pack (antibiotics) which treated his ear infection. BoBo has now been Vet checked healthy, ears are clean, vaccinations and worming are up to date, teeth cleaned and dental work has been done. He is heartworm / Lymes / Anaplasmosis / Ehrlich tested negative, placed on a preventative, Home Again microchipped and registered. Please be aware that BoBo’s sensitive ear canals need to have a Vet clean the hair out of them every 3 or 4 months; sedation may be required. BoBo’s adoption fee is $556.00 plus $44.00 for our 7.875% Minnesota state sales tax. This fee helps pay for some of his vet work, a leash, collar, a bag of quality dog food, a large 10-gallon dog food container, treats, a winter sweater, his 2 large dog beds and lots of good information to help your Poodles adoption move forward on the right paw. Sorry, but BoBo’s AKC papers were lost during his family’s move. Yes, these papers are not important for BoBo, but we do try to preserve the AKC lines (heritage) of these Poodles by supplying them to the “Poodle Pedigree” data base.
