Story
Ozzy is a sweet and loving 3.5 year old Saint Berdoodle. He had an unexpected addition to his family and with the new infant his owners do not have the time he deserves. He's a lover, especially to kids and mom, but defends the home and will bark at new people. In public, he does not bark at others. He has never been aggressive. He takes Prozac which helps separation anxiety, but likely would not need it if owners do not work long hours away from home.He joined us at 4 months of age and to our knowledge he has never been abused, but prefers females and children. He is anxious at the groomers, especially with his paws, but does well with a patient groomer. He was crate trained when he was young, but was extremely stressed by the crate and does much better with free reign of the house. He is great with kids, but is big (84lbs) and would do best with kids that are age 5 or older.

Story
**Currently Residing in a Foster Home.**I’m Merlin, a handsome 3-year-old grey Standard Poodle with a soft heart and a gentle soul. I was found as a stray, and when no one came to claim me, I made my way to Animal Ark to start fresh. I’m a sweetheart through and through. I am sensitive, smart, and eager to bond with someone who understands me. I do best in a calm home with adults or older teens (16+), where I can feel safe, loved, and appreciated for the loyal companion I’m ready to be. I do need a home with a fenced-in backyard. I may have had a mysterious beginning, but I’m hoping my next chapter is full of comfort, kindness, and a family who sees just how great I am.

Story
“BOBO” is a 7-year-old (06/24/2019), neutered, apricot AKC Standard Poodle who weighs 51 pounds and is 25 12 inches tall. BoBo’s records show that had been called “Boaz”, but his previous owner called him “Bo”. While Bo is a cute name, the one syllable word made it sound more like “No”. So, with the help of various people and the staff at Barrington Oaks Veterinary Hospital (thank you, Kat!) it was decided to call this cute boy “BoBo”! Perfect! BoBo, (who likes his new name) had been deeply loved and well cared for by a senior couple. Sadly, after the couple’s health began to fail, they could not keep up with the care of BoBo. The family stepped in and provided care for their parents while BoBo came to us. As pictured on our web site, we had to shave BoBo naked because he was so badly matted. Our Vet was able to remove the massive balls of hair that was growing down into his canal. It was extremely painful, so he had to be sedated to remove the hair. Then they were able to flush his ears clean and insert an Oto Pack (antibiotics) which treated his ear infection. Despite all that Bobo has endured, he is a VERY friendly, sociable and loving boy who greatly enjoys being with us and everyone he meets. He follows us around the house, greatly enjoys attention that people give him when we are out in public and if you don’t pet him, he will use his muzzle to get your attention. He has been a perfect house dog (house trained), so he has free access to our home all the time, even when we are gone and at night. While he has been an only dog, he likes our older Standard Poodles but really would enjoy playing tag with another large dog. As a typical Standard Poodle, BoBo has a strong hunting instinct. He will chase the squirrels (and any other rodent) that come into our backyard, bark at the deer who look at him and sniffs out a treat that has been misplaced. BoBo loves going for our daily 2-mile walk. Just grab his leash and he knows what’s going to happen next: “A WALK!! Yeah! Let’s go so I can see some more squirrels!” BoBo does pull on the leash but is learning to walk a little slower. *A SECURELY FENCED YARD WILL BE RECOMMENDED. *You must be physically able to handle a Standard Poodle. *Preference will be given to a family with past Poodle experience. *PLEASE: *NO cats and NO small dogs as he will chase them. *No aggressive or assertive dogs as they scare him and me. *Like most all rescue groups, we do NOT adopt our Poodles to homes more than 1 day’s drive (round trip) from our location here in central Minnesota. BoBo has now been Vet checked healthy, ears are clean, vaccinations and worming are up to date, teeth cleaned and dental work has been done. He is heartworm / Lymes / Anaplasmosis / Ehrlich tested negative, placed on a preventative, Home Again micro-chipped and registered. Please be aware that BoBo’s ear canals are very sensitive and hairy. So to prevent ear infections, he needs to have a Vet clear the hair out of his ear canals every 3 or 4 months; sedation may be required. BoBo is a RARE OPPORTUNITY for the right family! His adoption fee is $556.00 plus $44.00 for our 7.875% Minnesota state sales tax. This fee helps pay for some of his vet work, a leash, collar, a bag of quality dog food, a large 10-gallon dog food container, treats, 2 large dog beds and lots of good information to help your Poodles adoption move forward on the right paw. Sorry, but BoBo's AKC papers were lost during his family's move.  Yes, these papers are not important for BoBo, but we do try to preserve the AKC lines (heritage) of these Poodles by supplying them to the "Poodle Pedigree" data base.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.  Do you want to meet me? I will be at Chuck and Don's in West Bloomington, 5145 W. 98th Street, Bloomington, MN 55437 for an Adoption Event on Saturday, October 10th from 12:00 - 2:00 pm. Please email inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com for questions regarding the dogs.   Meet Fred! Hi, my name is Fred, and I’m a fun, affectionate guy who is loving this new life! I’m great on leash and very excited to meet new people and dogs. I absolutely LOVE to play—especially fetch! Balls, please! I also enjoy a good game of tug-of-war and could play with toys all day. I’m wonderful with kids and love being part of the family. Their excitement can sometimes get me excited too, so I’m still learning how to keep my manners when things get busy. I’m a pretty good listener and already know “sit,” and I’m learning more every day. I’m also very good about dropping things I shouldn’t have once I’m reminded. Since I’m still figuring out this whole house-living thing, I need some supervision. I’m curious and may decide that shoes, things on the table, or items on the counter look like fun toys. With consistency and guidance, I’m learning what’s mine and what’s not. My crate manners are still a work in progress. I bark when I’m first crated and can take some time to settle, so I’ll need a family who is patient and willing to help me learn that my crate is a safe, comfortable place. I’m affectionate, playful, eager to learn, and just an all-around fun guy! I’m looking for a family who will continue helping me learn good manners while giving me plenty of love, playtime, and—of course—lots of opportunities to fetch! Fred is such a fun guy, and he can’t wait to find his forever family! ❤️ Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.   ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there*** Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Check back for updates on which events they will be attending. If an event is not listed within their bio above, the animal is not planning to attend.  Please understand that all of our pets are in volunteer foster homes and sometimes "life" happens and the foster family cannot make it to their scheduled adoption event. If you are traveling from a far distance to meet a specific animal, please understand we cannot guarantee event attendance. We recommend filling out an application and we will set up a private appointment. Private appointments are only scheduled after an application is submitted and approved. ADOPTION PROCEDURE: The first step in our process is to complete an online adoption application on our website: http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/adoptionprocess/   Note: In most circumstances Underdog Rescue will only adopt within 60 miles of Minneapolis, MN.  All of our foster animals can be seen by appointment with an approved adoption application. Contact us at http://www.underdogrescuemn.com/contact-us/ if you have further questions. FOSTER CARE: All of our animals are fostered in individual homes or doggie daycare facilities. While they are in our care, they are part of our families and given lots of love. We work on training, crate-training and socialization prior to adoption, but each bio is written by the foster as they see them, in their home. Each animal's behavior is evaluated and we have a sense of its temperament and personality, but it cannot be guaranteed. We look for adopters who will give each animal the wonderful life and permanent home that he or she deserves in time and with patience.  If you have an interest and ability to be a foster home, please visit our website  www.underdogrescuemn.com/foster-applications  and fill out a foster application. NUTRITION: Nutrition is vital to the rehabilitation and life-long health of our pets.  All of our foster animals are fed a premium diet such as NutriSource, Canidae, Orijen, Nature's Variety, Fromm, Pure Vita, Stella and Chewy's, Primal, or balanced raw diet.  All adopters are required to continue providing premium diets for the life of the animal. Story
Hey, it’s Maui here! My foster mom wrote my bio a couple weeks ago, but I’ve been learning a LOT since then. Let me give you the good scoop… Yes, I jump. It’s because I love her, duh. But apparently, if I keep all four paws on the floor, I get TREATS?! Who would’ve thought no hugs meant snacks? I still forget sometimes, but I’m learning! I’ve also learned not to nibble so much. Surprisingly, treats taste much better than people. Have I mentioned I LOVE treats? All kinds. Yummy. Now, one weakness I’m still working on… socks. I like to eat them. Maybe it’s the sweaty-feet flavor? Mom says they’re dangerous to swallow, so they have to stay out of reach. As she tells foster dad, “If you don’t leave them lying around, he can’t get them.” Don’t worry—we’re still training Dad. He’ll get there. My leash manners? Getting pretty amazing! I figured out that walking nicely earns me—you guessed it—TREEEEATS! I hardly pull anymore. When I do, Mom asks me to sit until I’m calm, and then we keep going. When you’re a guy on a mission, stopping is inconvenient, so I’m learning to focus and keep walking nicely. Mostly. Off duty, I love couch cuddles and sleeping next to my foster mom. Women are usually my favorite, but my foster dad is soft-spoken and doesn’t have a deep voice, so I feel comfortable with him, too. I do best with someone calm, patient, and clear about what they want me to do. Firm directions are okay. Yelling? No thank you. I have feelings, you know. I’m also still learning about sharing. If my foster brother tries to take my toys, I can get vocal and protective of them. I haven’t hurt him, but I need my people to give us space and help manage those moments. I prefer eating in my kennel or a separate room, where I don’t have to worry about another dog coming near my food. Sometimes I get loud because I’m worried I’ll have to compete for it. Mom is helping me learn that my meals will always come and I can eat in peace. Seriously though, have I mentioned the treat lady? Her supply seems unlimited. Excellent household management, if you ask me. I’m potty trained, too! Mom thinks she’s taught me to go on command. What I’ve learned is that a pee earns one treat and a poop earns TWO. We both think we’re training each other, and honestly, it’s working. I haven’t had any regular potty accidents in the house. Okay, there was ONE little excitement tinkle when Mom came home after a long day. I was just soooo happy to see her. Whoops. Love leaked a little. Also, have I mentioned my impeccable recall skills? Call my name and I’ll come right to you. I do not think a non fenced in yard is a deal breaker in my future! I really love my foster family, but Mom says someday I’ll find a forever family of my very own. Someone who will keep teaching me, understand the things I’m still working on, and let me curl up beside them when the day is done. I believe her. Because surely nobody with that many treats would lie to me.                     Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $675.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.October 8, 2026, 5:52 pm
