GENT is a fantastic dog who is being cared for by one of our trusted rescue partners. GENT is NOT a Woof River dog. To apply for GENT please download an adoption application here Please email the completed application to John at jhayesp@gmail.com Please submit an application rather than an inquiry with no application attached. 🐾 Meet Gent – A True Southern Gentleman! 🐾 Handsome GENT is ready to leave his stray days behind and start the next chapter of his life—with a family of his very own! Rescued just a few months ago as a stray, GENT arrived with a long, heavily matted coat. After a much-needed grooming and veterinary care, this handsome poodle/doodle mix has blossomed into the happy, active, and lovable boy he was meant to be! GENT is as smart as he is handsome. He's highly intelligent and has wonderful manners. He walks beautifully on a leash, rides like a perfect gentleman in the car, and even takes his treats ever so gently. ❤️ He's a sensitive soul, too. Traffic and loud noises can make him uncomfortable, so he would love a patient, understanding person who will help him feel safe and secure as he adjusts to his new life. GENT has been fully vetted and neutered, and now all that's missing is YOU! He's looking for someone who will take him on walks, give him plenty of love, cherish his gentle nature, and remind him every day that he's finally home. GENT has done his time waiting. Now it's his turn to be someone's beloved companion. GENT is neutered, microchipped and up to date on all vaccinations. His $550 adoption fee covers his interstate health certificate and the cost of transport to the Midwest. For an adoption application on GENT click here Please email the completed application to jhayesp@gmail.com. He will reach out to you as soon as your application is processed. Thank you in advance for your patience. Like all of Woof River's dogs, GENT will be beginning his journey in Memphis, Tennessee where he will remain until adopted. Once adopted, some pups stay local in Memphis. Many others travel via one of our transport partners to their new forever homes. We use Pet Express Transport (https://petexpresstupelo.wordpress.com) for our Nashville, Knoxville and New England adoptions. Breed selection is done in conjunction with two local vets and is not to be considered a guarantee but rather a well-educated decision from well qualified staff. Please LIKE Woof River on Facebook! Story
Say hello to “IRIS” (not IRS) who comes to us from a family in North Dakota. Iris was their family pet who was deeply loved and well cared for. Sadly, a life-changing family event gave them little time for the attention and care Iris deserved. So, she came to us in need of a new loving family. Iris is an AKC Standard Poodle who is a very soft, easy going, gentle girl that was born March 27, 2021. We do have her AKC Registration Certificate along with her AKC Certified Pedigree (lineage). She weighs a healthy 69 pounds and measures 26 inches tall from the floor to her withers (shoulder). Iris is a smart dog and had been used for hunting. TRUE FACT: Poodles are great hunting dogs because they are originally from Germany where they were developed as water dogs to retrieve waterfowl for hunters. Yet she is very friendly and a “Velcro” type of Poodle who greatly enjoys following me and my husband around while being a part of our family. She also loves our older grandchildren to come and visit with her. Be aware that when she looks at you, her eyes WILL search your soul. Going for a walk, a ride on a boat, going to the beach, playing fetch with her toys, meeting other people or going for a car ride is on the TOP of her list of fun things this girl just loves to do. Wherever we go, Iris attracts attention as she just wants to be loved and hugged by everyone. She is a quiet Poodle but will bark (or talk) when someone comes to the door or she sees another dog as she really wants to play with them! This 5-year-old pretty girl is truly a wonderful Standard Poodle who is perfect in our home (housetrained), wants to sleep on her big soft bed in our bedroom at night and quickly comes when she is called (especially if a treat is involved). She is just fine with other easy-going large dogs, like our Standard Poodle Lola and Tucker. While Iris has been around other dogs all her life, she is not looking to be a “best buddy” with another dog as she considers herself a member of a family and NOT a dog. She also doesn’t like her muzzle shaved, but as you can see, we worked that out as she looks so cute with a shaved face. *A SECURELY FENCED YARD will be required! *You must be physically able to handle a large Standard Poodle. *Preference will be given to a quiet family with past Standard Poodle experience. *Large, easy going, gentle dogs are fine. BUT PLEASE: *NO small dogs, puppies or cats. *NO aggressive or assertive dogs. *Like most rescue groups, we do NOT adopt our Poodles to homes more than 1 day’s drive (round trip) from our location here in central Minnesota. Yes. This is a very rare opportunity for the right family as we all know that a good Standard Poodle is hard to find. With the introduction of Doodles, sadly the quality Standard Poodles are becoming harder to find. Why Doodle when you can Poodle? Iris has been Vet checked healthy, is spayed, a dental cleaning has been done, vaccinations and worming are up to date, Home Again micro chipped and registered, heartworm / Lymes / Anaplasmosis / Ehrlich tested negative then placed on a preventative. Her adoption fee is $742.00 plus $58.00 for our 7.375% Minnesota state sales tax. This fee helps to pay for vet work and includes a leash, collar, a bag of quality dog food, a 10 gallon dog food container, treats, dog toys in a cute toy box, leash, collar, a blanket and her big soft doggie bed along with lots of good information to help your Poodle adoption move forward on the right paw! Please visit our website for more pictures and information about our “Adoption Application” which is required if you are interested in adopting Iris.

Story
Mac was born on June 6, 2020, and I shortly picked her up in July 2020. She has been my special girl ever since! Mac is full of so much personality and loves to play, run around, cuddle with her toys, and chase after squirrels that she's only caught a handful of times. She is shy with other dogs, but loves to play and entertain. Whenever someone comes home, she loves to sit and shake for a treat (or greet them with lots of excitement). Mac means the world to me, but being away at college means I can't give her the time, attention, and care she deserves. My mom has been taking care of her, but Mac has a bit too much personality with her and her lifestyle. Although it makes me incredibly sad to rehome my special girl, I know it's the right thing to do for her. Mac is microchipped and has received shots in her lifetime, but she is currently not up to date. She is also not fixed. She would love a home where she can run outside or at least be walked often.

Story
Hey, it’s Maui here! My foster mom wrote my bio a couple weeks ago, but I’ve been learning a LOT since then. Let me give you the good scoop... Yes, I jump. It’s because I love her, duh. But apparently, if I keep all four paws on the floor, I get TREATS?! Who would’ve thought no hugs meant snacks? I still forget sometimes, but I’m learning! I’ve also learned not to nibble so much. Surprisingly, treats taste much better than people. Have I mentioned I LOVE treats? All kinds. Yummy. Now, one weakness I’m still working on… socks. I like to eat them. Maybe it’s the sweaty-feet flavor? Mom says they’re dangerous to swallow, so they have to stay out of reach. As she tells foster dad, “If you don’t leave them lying around, he can’t get them.” Don’t worry—we’re still training Dad. He’ll get there. My leash manners? Getting pretty amazing! I figured out that walking nicely earns me—you guessed it—TREEEEATS! I hardly pull anymore. When I do, Mom asks me to sit until I’m calm, and then we keep going. When you’re a guy on a mission, stopping is inconvenient, so I’m learning to focus and keep walking nicely. Mostly. Off duty, I love couch cuddles and sleeping next to my foster mom. Women are usually my favorite, but my foster dad is soft-spoken and doesn’t have a deep voice, so I feel comfortable with him, too. I do best with someone calm, patient, and clear about what they want me to do. Firm directions are okay. Yelling? No thank you. I have feelings, you know. I’m also still learning about sharing. If my foster brother tries to take my toys, I can get vocal and protective of them. I haven’t hurt him, but I need my people to give us space and help manage those moments. I prefer eating in my kennel or a separate room, where I don’t have to worry about another dog coming near my food. Sometimes I get loud because I’m worried I’ll have to compete for it. Mom is helping me learn that my meals will always come and I can eat in peace. Seriously though, have I mentioned the treat lady? Her supply seems unlimited. Excellent household management, if you ask me. I’m potty trained, too! Mom thinks she’s taught me to go on command. What I’ve learned is that a pee earns one treat and a poop earns TWO. We both think we’re training each other, and honestly, it’s working. I haven’t had any regular potty accidents in the house. Okay, there was ONE little excitement tinkle when Mom came home after a long day. I was just soooo happy to see her. Whoops. Love leaked a little. Also, have I mentioned my impeccable recall skills? Call my name and I’ll come right to you. I do not think a non fenced in yard is a deal breaker in my future! I really love my foster family, but Mom says someday I’ll find a forever family of my very own. Someone who will keep teaching me, understand the things I’m still working on, and let me curl up beside them when the day is done. I believe her. Because surely nobody with that many treats would lie to me. ❤️                     Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee:  $675.00Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.November 5, 2026, 10:38 am
