Story
Age: Almost 1.5 years old Weight: 48# Dog friendly: Yes Cat friendly: Unknown Kid friendly: Yes, Older/considerate kids only Potty trained: Yes Crate trained: Yes Tobias is an energetic 1.5-year-old standard poodle who loves to play with toys and especially his foster sister. He has a silly/goofy personality but is fairly quiet. He’s starting to vocalize a bit more as he’s learning from his foster sister, but overall is very quiet. Tobias will require a lot of patience in the beginning as it takes him some time to warm up to new people, but he so desperately wants all the affection and to just be part of the fun! He enjoys pets, belly rubs, and scratches when he does allow us to do those things. He’s definitely cautiously optimistic when it comes to affection! He would do best in a home with at least one other dog. We aren’t sure how well he would do with other children. He doesn’t seem to mind our 13-year-old but often growls at her when she enters a room for no apparent reason. We haven’t had him around young children, and because of that we don’t feel confident saying he’d be okay with them. He’s fully potty trained and has had no accidents. He does sometimes pee when frightened (like when we have to put his harness on to go somewhere or to give him a bath). Tobias sleeps well in a kennel overnight, and during the day we keep his kennel door open so he can go in and out as he pleases. His kennel has become his safe spot. He will go in there if a noise or sudden movement scares him. He eats and drinks very well. He’s definitely food and treat motivated! He also does very well in the car. We use a vehicle-safe tether that’s connected to the anchor in the back seat and the other end to the back of his harness. He would also do fine in a vehicle’s kennel. He needs some work on leash. He tends to walk in circles and doesn’t seem to like the leash much, which is possibly due to inexperience. We have a fenced backyard where he runs around, plays with his foster sister, and potties. He wants to be around the people and dogs in his home, even if he’s not quite ready to snuggle or get lots of pets. With the right family that will give him the time and patience he requires, we know that Tobias will be an excellent pet. We know the perfect family is out there and has no idea yet what an amazing addition he will make! Adoption Fee: $695

Story
Meet Obi: Your Loyal, Playful, and Loving Companion! Obi is a 2.5-year-old Standard Poodle with a heart of gold and a spirit full of energy and affection. After being surrendered due to a little sock mishap (yep, he ate one, and it needed surgery to remove!), Obi is now looking for his forever home with someone who understands his unique needs and is ready to give him the attention he deserves. What’s Obi Like?Obi is a super sweet, fun-loving guy who is all about people and other dogs. He's very social, loves to go outside for adventures, and enjoys being active. But when the day winds down, he’s all about snuggling up on the couch, ideally in your lap if you'll let him! He’s got a gentle side and is loyal to those he trusts—once he warms up to you (he’s a little shy at first), he’ll be your best friend for life. He’s smart and well-trained, knowing many commands—so you’ll find him eager to please and easy to teach. But, like any dog, he’s still got a few quirks to work on, like his excited habit of playfully mouthing when he gets really happy. Don’t worry, it’s never aggressive, but it’s something he’ll need to keep improving with some guidance. What Obi Needs:Obi would do best in a home with experienced dog owners who understand the strong, intelligent nature of the Standard Poodle. He’s not a first-time dog’s dog—he needs a family that’s ready to engage with him, provide consistent training, and include him in daily activities. He’s got a lot of energy to burn, but also a lot of love to give, and he needs a family that will meet his active lifestyle and commitment to his emotional needs. Obi is looking for a home where he can be part of the family, whether that means playing in the yard, going on walks, or just curling up on the couch at the end of the day. If you’re ready to bring a fun, loyal, and loving dog into your life, Obi just might be your perfect match! Ready to meet Obi? He's waiting to become your new best friend!  ##2372245##

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Piper, a sweet and playful Standard Poodle X born around April 12, 2023. At 56 lbs, she’s the perfect size—just the right balance of energy and affection. Piper is a bit shy at first but once she warms up, she’ll show you just how loving and fun she is! She gets her confidence from other dogs, so she’d thrive in a home with a friendly canine companion. When we first brought her in, Piper wouldn’t come near us until she met our dog—after that, she became a confident little gal who loves following her fur sibling around. Piper loves walking, she literally bounces around the whole walk like a little tigger, so a daily walk would not only do good for her (and you!), it makes her so happy. But otherwise, she is pretty low energy, happy to chill and sleep around the house most of the day, leaving you to work. Housetrained and crate trained, Piper is great with kids, cats, and other dogs, though she’d do best in a home with slightly older children, as her gentle nature might not mesh well with toddlers. She’s quiet, well-trained, and super sweet—if you're looking for a low-maintenance dog that isn’t glued to your side, Piper might just be the perfect fit for you. She does have a skin condition called Sebaceous adenitis (SA), which is an immune-mediated issue affecting the oil glands in her skin. While it doesn’t cause her much trouble day-to-day, it does mean that she needs regular baths to keep her skin and coat in good shape. This is mostly an issue if you need a hypo allergenic dog, as was the reason she was surrendered. Please take the time to read up on this condition so you are aware of what it take to manage it in he long run. Her case is not very severe and is easily managed right now but that could change as she gets older; requiring additional treatments and therapies. She’s still as lovable and adorable as ever, though, so she is a sweet, easy-going companion with a bit of extra grooming needs. So, if you already have another dog and are looking to add a sweet, well-mannered little sister to your family, Piper might just be your perfect match.    Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Interested in adopting this lovable animal? Please go to our website www.wagsmn.org and fill out an Adoption Application.  Once the application is processed, a Wags representative will contact you, answer any questions you may have, and set up a time/location for a meet and greet!  A home visit is required prior to adoption.  Thank you for choosing to adopt! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Lena is playful, sweet and slightly anxious 68 pound golden doodle. She adores human attention and affection, is a people person and needs to know where everyone in the house is at all times, and will find her person to attach to and specifically follow that human around everywhere (even poking her head into the bathroom to find that human).   She took a good week to transition to feeling "safe" at home but was able to work up to being able to be left alone for a few hours at a time, though still gets anxious when people are getting ready to leave and does not like the kennel still.   Lena loves to play outside and would have a ball in her mouth at all times if given the opportunity. Her stubborn poodle side has started coming through, as evidenced by her lack of desire to listen to commands when outside (we have learned some tricks to get her to come to us when it's time to come inside). She loves to go for walks, but is easily distracted by other dogs and animals, and will need to solidify her basic obedience to improve her listening to her leader.   Lena LOVES to have play dates with other gentle playing dogs and could play for hours on end with a furry friend, though her perfect home would have no other animals as it is hard for her to settle and stop playing.   Once she feels safe, Lena settles comfortably to being inside and will lay calmly, gladly accepting pets and affection at any moment. She has the sweetest eyes that speak to your soul and will make your heart melt. She deserves a home that can give her the time and dedication to training, building trust, and building a relationship to feel safe and loved, something she missed out on the first couple years of life.    Lena is from a local impound. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please fill out an adoption application. An adoption application is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is not a binding contract. To learn more about Ruff Start’s adoption process and the care our foster animals receive, please visit our How to Adopt page. If you are unable to adopt but want to help this animal and others in our care, you can donate   to support the medical and veterinary needs of all Ruff Start Rescue animals.   Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.May 18, 2025, 6:50 pm

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Hi there! I'm Jockey, a sweet and small Mini Poodle weighing in at just 8 pounds. I'm 4 years old and ready to find my forever home. When I first arrived, I was pretty scared, but I've been working hard to overcome my fears and now my true personality is starting to shine through. I've really made a lot of progress and am very comfortable in my foster home. I used to hide when someone tried to pick me up, but now that I have gotten to know my foster mom, I lay down calmly  ready for some love. I enjoy spending time in the yard, especially when the neighbors walk by with their dogs. I love sniffing and checking out all the pups and people from the safety of my fence. To help me live my best life, I do need a canine companion in my new home. I have a few adorable quirks that will make you smile. I do a little dance when it's mealtime, and if you're not paying attention to me during treat time, I'll pat your leg to make sure you see me. I'm quite the foodie and love treats and chew bones. Just a heads-up, I prefer to keep my chewies to myself! I am a foodie at heart - foster mom says I can be bribed with a treat anytime, anyplace - hee hee! Toys are also my favorite - I have become a little toy hoarder and my people find my little stashes all over the house. I'm just saving them to play with later! I also love playing with the other dogs in my foster home - we LOVE playing zoomies and take turns chasing each other.  I'm still working on overcoming some fears, like loud noises, which can be a bit scary for me. But with patience and kindness, I'm getting better every day. I'm almost potty trained as long as I'm on a good schedule, and I'm also crate trained. We're working on leash training, but I do get alarmed so a fenced yard is required. I can get a bit vocal when you leave the house, but that's just because I love being around my people. It would be best if I didn't have shared walls.  If you're looking for a fantastic companion who will dance into your heart, look no further! With a little patience and kindness, I'll be your loyal and loving friend. *Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. If you are interested in a particular dog whose bio states those needs and do not currently have them, please understand that your home might not be the right fit. Please use the filter on our Adoptable Dogs page to find the perfect match for your home.    ***Be sure to check your spam/junk folder as sometimes our emails end up there***Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.If you have other questions about me you can email Underdog Rescue at <inquiries@underdogrescuemn.com> ADOPTION EVENTS:      Adoption events are updated at the top of each dogs animals' as their foster home signs up. Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Thank you for stopping by to see me!  Please fill out an application to set up  a private meeting.    Meet Skippy, the adorable 8-pound senior poodle (or poodle mix) who’s got all the sweet vibes of a happy old man. Skippy’s a total lovebug who just wants to be by your side—whether it’s snuggling on the couch, curling up in your lap, or burrowing under a pile of blankets to make his perfect little nest. He’s all about cuddles, snacks (a soft milkbone after doing his business is a must!), and enjoying the simple pleasures of life. Skippy is potty trained and while he loves the comfort of a fenced yard to roam, he is leash trained and also loves the smells of the neighborhood when doing walks.  While he’s a little barker when left alone, he's generally a calm and docile soul who would do best in a home where he’s not left alone too much. Skippy enjoys the company of other dogs (especially those around his size) but could also be happy as a solo dog with enough attention and love. This sweet, tiny guy has a few quirks—his greasy skin and little "old dog" smell, which just means he may need some extra baths—but he’s just as cute as a button and full of love. As he has had more time in rescue and his skin has begun healing a bit, this does seem to be improving.  His vet thinks he’s around 12 or 13, but honestly, he might be even older, which just makes him even more of a little senior gem. Skippy is best suited for a home without too many stairs (he's small and has some old man joints) and would thrive with a family that’s home often and ready to give him the snuggles he deserves. If you're looking for a sweet, low-maintenance companion who will be your cuddle buddy and give you endless love, Skippy is the perfect match! He’s got a heart full of joy and is just waiting for the right person to spoil him. Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption.
