He's as sweet as they come and absolutely loves being with his people. Doug has lived successfully in a home with children and has a friendly, affectionate personality that wins everyone over. Doug is a total goofball who loves to entertain himself and everyone around him. He'll happily pounce on his toys, toss them into the air, and proudly bring them to you in hopes you'll play a game of fetch. His playful spirit is contagious, and he's always ready for the next adventure. Doug absolutely loves other dogs and would enjoy having a canine sibling to play with. However, because he's still building on the training and structure he's learned, he will need a home that can provide clear boundaries and consistency. While he'd be happy with the right dog companion, Doug may ultimately do best as an only dog where his new family can focus on continuing his training and helping him succeed. Because Doug has a high prey drive, he'll need a home without small pets. Squirrels are simply too tempting for him, so he'll need a family that's prepared to manage his instincts on walks and outdoor adventures. Doug recently completed a four-week board-and-train program with our training partner, Northstar Family K9 Training, where he made wonderful progress building confidence, improving his leash skills, and learning the foundations for success. His future family will need to continue reinforcing everything he's learned through consistent training, structure, and positive reinforcement. Ongoing leash work, continued crate training, and practicing his obedience skills will be important as Doug settles into his forever home. Doug is a very busy young dog who thrives when he has a job to do. He needs an active family that is dedicated to both training and daily exercise. Right now, his ideal day includes a trip to the dog park—Minnehaha is his favorite!—plus a 3-mile walk. Regular physical activity and mental enrichment are essential to keeping this smart, energetic boy happy and well-balanced. Doug is fully potty trained and has excellent house manners. Because he enjoys companionship and can become anxious when left alone, he'd love a family where someone works from home or has a hybrid schedule. That routine will help set him up for success as he continues adjusting to life in his forever home. I'm a growing puppy and I'm still learning! While I've made great progress, I'll need a family committed to continuing my training so I can keep building confidence and making good choices. I'd love to attend obedience classes with my new family and continue practicing all the skills I've learned. My ideal forever home will be with people who are home most of the day and won't leave me alone for longer than 3–4 hours at a time while I continue building confidence in my crate and settling into my new routine. I’m a growing puppy and I have not yet had a lot of experience with crates, kids or cats and I might bark if something alarms me, but I really love to learn and hoping for a family who will take me to a basic obedience class to continue to help me build confidence and dog skills. Ideally my forever home would need to be home during the day to help me with my potty training and not leave me for breaks longer than 3 - 4 hours. Get your toy box ready! **Obedience classes are required when adopting this puppy from Underdog Rescue. Many of our puppies have a mama who was not properly socialized before coming to Underdog Rescue. Since coming to Underdog, this puppy has been in a socialized and loving home, but that needs to be continued with its Adopters. Training classes teach puppies the ins and outs of being a pet while creating a bond with their new Adopter. Obedience classes are key to creating a relationship with your puppy while having it be a happy and successful member of society. Proof of Obedience Class registration is required for this puppy before adoptions can be finalized. If you would like some suggestions, we would be happy to send some trainers who have experience with Underdog Rescue, but a Basic Obedience class in your area should work! Please note that some of our dogs are obtained from shelters, surrendered to our care, or released from breeders. Each animal's bio is based on our experience of the animal within our care, an educated guess based on physical characteristics, temperament and information shared. Each dog receives basic grooming when coming into rescue, but for some dogs they have not received grooming attention until recently and grooming may be required shortly after adoption. This will be at the adopter’s expense, so we encourage you to research the breed and be prepared for grooming expenses. Underdog cannot guarantee hypoallergenic or non-shedding qualities of any dogs in our rescue. Some of the animals come from situations where they are lacking experience in a home and confidence in humans. In turn, they require another companion dog and/or a fenced in yard in their forever home in order for them to feel safe. Ozzy is a sweet and loving 3.5 year old Saint Berdoodle. He had an unexpected addition to his family and with the new infant his owners do not have the time he deserves. He's a lover, especially to kids and mom, but defends the home and will bark at new people. In public, he does not bark at others. He has never been aggressive.He takes Prozac which helps separation anxiety, but likely would not need it if owners do not work long hours away from home.He joined us at 4 months of age and to our knowledge he has never been abused, but prefers females and children.He is anxious at the groomers, especially with his paws, but does well with a patient groomer. He was crate trained when he was young, but was extremely stressed by the crate and does much better with free reign of the house. He is great with kids, but is big (84lbs) and would do best with kids that are age 5 or older.

**Currently Residing in a Foster Home.**I’m Merlin, a handsome 3-year-old grey Standard Poodle with a soft heart and a gentle soul. I was found as a stray, and when no one came to claim me, I made my way to Animal Ark to start fresh. I’m a sweetheart through and through. I am sensitive, smart, and eager to bond with someone who understands me. I do best in a calm home with adults or older teens (16+), where I can feel safe, loved, and appreciated for the loyal companion I’m ready to be. I do need a home with a fenced-in backyard. I may have had a mysterious beginning, but I’m hoping my next chapter is full of comfort, kindness, and a family who sees just how great I am.

Meet Maui!  Maui is a fun, goofy, high energy guy who is looking for a home that can keep up with him! He absolutely LOVES getting out and doing things. Walks are one of his favorites, and he’s even happy running alongside a bike. If you’re looking for a dog to join you on adventures, Maui is ready to go! Maui loves toys, but fair warning this boy needs the BIG, durable ones. He plays hard and has a blast doing it but he will swallow small toys / things he gets into his mouth.  He’s also a total love bug. Maui loves attention, affection, and being close to his people. One of his favorite ways to show his excitement is by jumping up to give “hugs.” We’ve been working with him on waiting until he’s invited, and he’ll need someone willing to keep reinforcing those manners. When Maui gets excited or overstimulated, he can also get mouthy/nippy. It’s more than the gentle puppy mouthing you might expect, but it isn’t aggressive biting. He’ll do best with someone who understands energetic dogs and can continue working with him on appropriate play and boundaries. Also would consider not having small children handle him until that is more under control.  And somehow, underneath ALL that energy, Maui has a couch potato setting. Once he’s gotten his energy out, he’s perfectly happy curling up next to you for some serious cuddle time.  Maui would be a great match for an active person or family who wants a goofy, affectionate adventure buddy and is willing to give him the exercise, structure, and continued training he needs. Danube, or “Dani” as we call her, is a 9 week old lab mix puppy with tan fur, darker markings, and pretty hazel eyes.  She is the smallest of her litter of three, with a lot of energy.   She is the most energetic of the group, and also the most social.  Wherever there is fun to be had, she’s already there.     Danube is quite affectionate and enjoys snuggle time with humans.  She likes to be carried around, but also loves walking with humans (and the pack).     Danube and her siblings are quite lab-like in personality – they love to run, wrestle, and play tug-of-war.  Dani enjoys carrying toys around, and when she’s not, she remembers exactly where they are.    The pups have been in a large open pen, but we’re starting to crate train for short periods.  They settle in quickly and remain quiet through the night.  In fact, this litter has always been pretty quiet, making noises mainly when hungry.  They have been a dream to foster!  Potty training is still a ways away, but all three pups are learning to run straight to the door when coming out of their kennel in the morning or at meal times.  Dani might grow to be a bigger dog, so a home with adequate space would be best.  A fenced yard with room to roam would be wonderful, but with consistent training she could do well in other settings.  If you think this could be a good fit for your home, Dani would love to meet you!         Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue.
