Porky Pete is a special boy, and will need a special home dedicated to meeting his needs. He’s a spry, silly, happy dog who also loves to snuggle and snooze - often matching the vibe in his foster home. He’s very independent, and will chill somewhere comfy while you go about your day. He’ll even bring you a toy if he wants to play fetch or tug with you. Porky Pete is a sturdy little fella, a healthy weight, and not a dainty small dog as you might expect!Porky Pete spent several months in an out-of-state shelter, and needs some TLC as he continues to deal with that experience. He is tapering down two anxiety meds, and is doing very well. His med adjustments will take some time yet - and a patient, structured, and caring forever home would suit him best. Likely due to his shelter experience – Porky Pete is NOT a fan of other dogs. His ideal home would have no other pets, and an experienced handler that can redirect him when encountering other dogs on walks. Our vet recommends a couple of long walks each day to tire him out and help his anxiety, so a crowded neighborhood might not be best for Porky Pete. A securely fenced yard or a tie out with privacy would be ideal for Porky Pete to lounge outside, he loves to lay in the grass.Vet visits before his arrival to JR’s indicated possible arthritis, hip, spine and joint concerns – but there have been no issues since arrival on 5/23. Our vet says there’s no indication of pain or discomfort, and foster mom has not seen any mobility issues. He can run, walk, play, do stairs, and hop on the couch with no issue. He’s especially cute when he flops down belly up and wiggles to scratch his back on the carpet! It may be best for Porky Pete to live in a single-story home, just to keep any future issues or pain to a minimum.Porky Pete does a great job letting you know when he wants to go out, or when he wants your attention in general. Because he’s a loud barker for these things, it’s best if he lives in a single-family home. He does wear a belly band in his foster home, but keeps it dry more and more as he settles in, so will likely not need to wear one long term. Porky Pete does well with going potty outside, except when foster mom is gone for work – so a home with someone to let him out more often would be ideal. Rosie is a sweet little Yorkie with a heart full of love and a gentle soul to match. This social butterfly absolutely adores her people and loves making new friends—both human and canine! She does wonderfully with kids, enjoys meeting everyone she can, and is happiest when she’s close to the people she loves most. Whether she’s joining you for a neighborhood stroll, soaking up cuddles on the couch, or simply following you from room to room, Rosie’s devotion shines through in everything she does. Rosie enjoys her daily walks, especially when the weather is cooler. On warmer days, she tends to slow down a bit, which is common for small dogs like Yorkies—especially since Rosie has been diagnosed with a collapsed trachea. A collapsed trachea is a condition often seen in small breeds where the airway becomes narrowed, causing coughing or sensitivity with heat, excitement, or overexertion.
