Story
Meet Texas Pete — Spoilet Alert- he’s amazing  As the new year begins, Texas Pete is ready to turn the page and start the chapter he’s been waiting for — one filled with love, security, and belonging. This sweet 8-year-old gentleman has a story of resilience, hope, and second chances written all over his soulful eyes. Texas Pete came to us from Georgia worn down from years of neglect — thin, tired, and overlooked in the shelter because of his gray and white coat. But even through it all, Pete never stopped believing his time would come. Today, he’s a healthy 75 pounds, has completed heartworm treatment, and is truly thriving. His gentle spirit shines just as brightly as ever, and his tail still wags with pure joy. Pete is dog- and kid-friendly, though as a big, happy guy, he may offer a few enthusiastic hugs along the way. Cats, however, are not on his list for this next chapter.  He is house- and crate-trained, neutered, and up to date on vaccines. Pete rides beautifully in the car and handled his long journey to his foster home in Harrisburg, PA, like the gentleman he is — calm, patient, and grateful every mile of the way. Don’t let his age fool you — Texas Pete still has plenty of playful spark left. He loves all toys, but balls are his absolute favorite and bring out the puppy joy that still lives in his heart. This new year, Texas Pete has just one resolution: to find a forever home where he can finally feel safe, cherished, and loved. If you’re looking to begin the year with unconditional love and a loyal companion by your side, Pete is ready to make 2025 his best year yet.   Fostered in Harrisburg, PA  Adoption inquiries welcome — let’s make this his year. Story
Doc is a sweet boy who just loves his people. He just loves to be loved and loves to love you right back. Unfortunately, my husband and I have separated and I'm not sure where I will end up. I will not be able to take him with me. Wherever Doc winds up needs to have space for him to run. He is a fence hopper and he is quick so anytime he is outside he has to be on a leash and is just not fair to him. He also likes to pee a lot and house training has been a bit of a struggle. >

Story
Shelby, a 2-year-old American Bulldog mix. Shelby is a very shy and sensitive girl who needs time, patience, and a calm approach to feel safe. Please go slow with her—once she trusts you, her true personality starts to shine. She knows her basic commands and wants so badly to be a good girl. Shelby would do best as the only dog in the home and prefers older children, as younger kids can make her anxious. The shelter environment is scary for her, and she’s overwhelmed right now—but in a quiet, loving home, she blossoms. Once she’s comfortable, Shelby is incredibly affectionate and will happily cuddle up and become your loyal protector and best friend. She’s looking for someone who understands that love takes time—and is ready to give her the patience she deserves. If you are interested in meeting Shelby, please visit the shelter during our open hours; Mon, Tues, Wed, Fri 10a-12p & 2p-4p, Thurs 10a-12p & 2p-5:30p, and Saturday 9a-1p. Adoption application are done in person at the shelter. If you do not own your home, bring consent from the property owner to have a dog on the property. As always, if you have another dog in the home, plan to bring them for a meet before you complete the adoption. Adoption fees: 6m and younger $250, 7m-5y $200, 6y-10y $150, 11y and older $100. Watch for adoption specials!!

Story
🐾 Meet Oscar! 🐾 This handsome boy was found crying under a van during a storm, and thanks to a Good Samaritan, he’s now safe and ready to find his forever home. 💙 ✨ About Oscar: Young pup full of energy and love ⚡ Crate trained 🐕‍🦺 Great with kids, but still learning manners 👧👦 Loves other dogs! 🐶🐶 Enjoys walks, outdoor playtime, and then curling up on the couch for snuggles 🛋️💤 Cuddler extraordinaire 💕 Oscar is playful and can roughhouse with dogs close to his age, but he also has a big soft side. Once he’s had his fun, he’s happiest curled up in your lap soaking up affection. With his enthusiasm for life, he’ll thrive with a family who can give him structure, exercise, and plenty of love. 🐕 Ideal Home: Oscar would do best in an active home. A family ready to continue his training will help him grow into the amazing companion we already know he can be. If you’re looking for a sweet, goofy, and loving boy to add to your family, Oscar may just be the perfect match. 🌟 If interested in adopting one of our available pets, please fill out an application at https://www.cognitoforms.com/DixieGirl1/PetAdoptionApplicationForm2 PLEASE MAKE NOTE- OUR DOGS ARE FOSTERED IN ALABAMA (UNLESS OTHERWISE STATED), OUR DOGS TRANSPORT TO THEIR NEW FAMILIES IN PENNSYLVANIA AFTER THEY HAVE BEEN ADOPTED.
