Bates is one of our longest residents. He has been in and out of the shelter system since August of 2022. He was found as a stray and brought to a crowded city shelter. He was then adopted and returned because he was too much for the elderly woman in the home. Bates is a big guy, probably around 85 lbs. He is a giant, goofy, big boy. Aside from shelter staff he has never had anyone who supported him and gave him routine, boundaries and structure. He will need to work on his manners but loves treats and is super loyal. He looks to his handler for direction. He loves other dogs of all sizes, but plays hard and doesn't like to share his toys or food with them. No kitties or small kids . He is good with the tweens/ teens. Bates needs a home where he is given structure and exercise. He loves to run and play and would benefit from another dog. Cranberry found herself abandoned at a high intake shelter in December of 2022, as if this wasn't bad enough she had a large stab wound on her back. She was treated but then found herself timestamped for length of stay. We took her in in January of 2023 and she has been here ever since. She is a sweet, silly playful girl who loves toys and people. Her dog meets have been more bad then good and we feel she would be happier as an only pet. She likes bigger kids and no small animals or cats for her. She needs some work on her basic manners and leash but other then that she is a good girl. Buster is an eight year old Pitbull mix. He is presently with a foster and has done very well in a home environment. He seems to accept and obey house rules. Buster is a happy dog and loves best being on a couch with his special person. He does not like walks on a leash and prefers going out in a fenced in yard. A fenced in yard is a must. He does enjoy truck rides. He would be perfect for a man or a strong woman who just wants a buddy to watch television with. He would not be good with children or other dogs. He needs to be an only child so he can get the individual attention he deserves. When he came to the foster he was very thin but now he is approximately 68 Lbs. He did live with other dogs his size and will do fine with or without a canine companion. Nugget is a senior dog at 9 years, but you would never know it by looking at him He is a darling and should not be sitting in the shelter at his age.
