Meet Rosie! As pretty as the flower, Rosie is sure to melt your heart with her stunning looks and her "stop and smell the roses" personality. It's easy to win this girls heart. Offer her a tennis ball, a frisbee, or some delicious treats and she is all yours. The shelter was scary and overwhelming for Rosie, so she went to the most perfect foster home, where she is currently living! Her foster family reports that "she is doing fantastic [and] has become such a talker." Did we mention she also lives with cats and does amazing with them? She may also be open to meeting other dogs, as well!To meet and learn more about Rosie, email adoptions@pspca.org.

Meet Smokey! This sweet boy is, sadly, our longest resident - spending over 3 years at our shelter. But while his stay has been longer than we hoped, he isn't letting that bring down his spirits. This handsome pup is still as happy as can be. Smokey's motto is "go big or go home" and he loves to go big, doing everything with his whole entire heart. When he cuddles, he presses so tight against his person so they can feel just how much he loves them. When he plays, his eyes are always on the price. And when he snacks, he is a champion eater. He may live life on a fast pace, but the good new is that this includes falling in love with you! It doesn't take much to be Smokey's person and in return you will get all of his devotion. Smokey would prefer to be the only pet and live with only his adult friends, but after spending his whole life in a kennel, he deserves to be spoiled and have something of his very own!To meet Smokey, stop into our shelter any day between 12:00 PM - 6:30 PM. Email adoptions@pspca.org to learn more.

Story
A species rarely seen in the wild is the House Hippo....this is one the locals call Dutchess. Hailing from the America's, the House Hippo is best known for her devotion to her people and her gentle snores. This young female can be seen sniffing around the grass patches foraging for treats. You can hear her little snorts as she deciphers between her favorite snacks like chicken nuggets, and her least favorite snacks like broccoli. Not many blame the House Hippo for her lack of love for broccoli, it is common amongst the juvenile of the species to not eat their fruits and vegetables. (All parents, of any species, can relate)Living off of a diet of dry kibble and chicken flavored treats the young female rarely turns away the chance to snack on something yummy. In fact, the only thing she will love more than food is her chosen family. Hippos like Dutchess are devoted, loving and trusting of their people. On walks this specific House Hippo will lean closely to her handler and look to them for when to walk, when to sit, and when to stay as she explores the world around her. Pair this with her short legs and species like Dutchess prefer to stay close to home instead of venturing out into the rest of the world. If you think this rare and loving species would be a fit in your home please email her best friend at aperonace@pspca.org!
