The reason we HAVE to re-home Roy is because he is un-neutered and has begun peeing/marking our home as his territory, because we have an un-spayed female pitbull (Cuddles). We are a disabled couple on a fixed income and would not be able to afford to take care of him, her, and her puppies, if Cuddles got pregnant. Also, we are not able to afford to fix both pups. We love both of them: they enjoy each other, but we were only supposed to be fostering Royale until his huparents were in a place that accepted large-sized dogs. Recently, they have fallen on hard times and had to re-home him or get evicted. Royale is gentle and loving and good with kids, even special-needs children. My wife is a paraplegic with related health issues. I am a TBI/stroke survivor with physical health issues, including a recent total left hip replacement, broken left foot, as well as neck, shoulder, and spinal issues, etc. It saddens us to have to do this, but we are left with little choice.

Barbie is a tender-hearted, deeply loving pup who forms strong bonds once she feels safe and secure. She will love her person with her whole heart, but she needs time and patience to open up in a new environment. Barbie does best with consistency, calm guidance, and a home that understands she is sensitive and still learning to trust. This sweet girl has had a rough start to life and it appears she lived out doors. Barbi e came into rescue when she needed surgery due to trouble giving birth to her puppies. Barbie does experience separation anxiety, so she will thrive in a home where someone works from home or is not gone for long hours. When her person is away, she will need appropriate outlets such as Nylabones, Kongs, and enrichment or puzzle toys to help her stay calm and occupied. Metal feeding bowls will be a must and a predictable routine and positive reinforcement will go a long way in helping her continue to build confidence. She tends to prefer women and appears fearful of men; however, this is likely due to very limited exposure rather than true intolerance. With time, patience, and positive experiences, this may improve. Barbie would do best in a home without small children, as she can be rough and rowdy when excited and may not always realize her own strength. Barbie has a high prey drive and should not live with cats. She may also not be a good fit for homes with small dogs, as she showed a bit too much interest in a smaller dog in her foster home. She has, however, done well around pot-bellied pigs, showing that she can coexist successfully with the right animal companions. Barbie is fully vaccinated, spayed, and microchipped and is working on both crate training and potty training.She is not a “one-size-fits-all” dog, but for the right adopter—someone patient, understanding, and ready to provide a stable, loving home—Barbie will be an incredibly devoted and rewarding companion. ##2642993##
