Meet Pearl — a gentle, 12-year-old mixed-breed lady with a lifetime of love behind her and so much still to give.Weighing about 65 lbs, Pearl is as easygoing and affectionate as they come. She’s happiest simply being near her people, quietly napping or keeping you company. She rarely makes a peep, but she’ll let out a polite bark when she needs to go outside. And when you come home, prepare for a warm, tail-wagging greeting that never fails to brighten the day. Pearl comes from a very loving home. Her former owner, a devoted animal rescuer, adored her deeply — Pearl even had her own 4-foot-deep swimming pool and spent countless hours happily paddling and lounging in the water. She was cherished, active, and always by her person’s side.After her owner passed away, Pearl stayed with extended family, despite a close friend of her owner offering to take her in. A couple of years later, she was brought to the shelter in rough shape: covered in fleas, with irritated skin and low energy. Even so, Pearl remained gentle and trusting, ready to love again the moment she felt safe. Today, Pearl enjoys slow strolls, gentle exploring, and all the soft, cozy beds she can find. She walks with a limp from arthritis in her back end, but with medication and injections she stays comfortable, and she approaches each day with quiet resilience. She may need a little help with stairs, though she tries her best to manage on her own. She gets along beautifully with dogs of all sizes and even cats. She eats well, settles easily, and doesn’t need a crate. And one of her greatest joys? Riding shotgun in the car like the perfect co-pilot, peacefully watching the world go by. With her low-energy, tender spirit, Pearl would thrive in a calm home with people who are home often and where stairs are minimal. Pugsley is a gentle and very sweet boy. He seems to be housetrained and loves being around people. He has some medical issues with his ears that will heal over time. He is very well mannered and loves attention. The vet says he is a perfect gentleman. He loves going for walks and car rides. He especially loves Dairy Queen pup cups! Given the trauma that Pugsley has sustained, we are searching for an only dog home (no cats as well) for him at this time. We think he needs time to heal from his trauma and it would be best if he gets to do that as a dog only home! He is scheduled to be neutered. ##2492850##

Um, it’s me … Athena I’m a shy 3 year old, spayed, microchipped American Bully. I came from a situation that was horrible … I was left in a crate for an unknown amount of time and suspected to be used for breeding. I was stuck in a crate filled with feces and urine … and who knows when I was fed. They had a 1 litter pop bottle that was attached to a guinea pig nozzle for me to get water from … When I was finally rescued - I was experiencing life for the first time ever. The sound of a car horn, the feeling of grass between my toes, the taste of delicious treats. Experiencing all of this for the first time is also overwhelming for me. I have anxiety and will need someone who understands that. I need someone who will be patient with me and show me that I’m still lovable My foster can now look at me and I don’t run or hide. I’m improving with my leash and collar - before I didn’t like it at all! I also place my chin in my Foster’s hand where before .. I would just hide. I also used to potty inside regularly and now I only have a few accidents if I’m left alone for more than a few hours! I also use pee pads when it happens! I’m also learning that not all people are bad and that I can trust them I recently found my voice too! I actually feel comfortable enough to bark which before I didn’t even make a peep!! I do need another dog in the home and a fenced in yard As you can imagine … living in a crate not seeing day light for an unknown amount of time caused a lot of trauma - but I’m not mean in any way and just want to be loved and understood! Due to my anxiety, I am on Prozac and Trazodone to help me over come my hard times!
