Looking for a local adopter!
Hazel Mae is such a great girl; you don’t want to miss out on her! This girl is the whole package. She is so sweet and affectionate, smart, quiet, and can live with kids, cats, and dogs. Watch her video here to see some of her personality, and read on for more:
Hazel is currently fostered in a one-bedroom apartment with a small female dog. Her foster mom works 12-hour shifts and Hazel is quiet as a mouse in her crate all day. She has no separation anxiety and doesn’t cry when her foster mom leaves. Hazel will still need regular walks, playtime, and enrichment activities to meet her mental and physical needs, but she can easily live in an apartment. She would also love a yard to do zoomies in, though!
Hazel loves to cuddle! She is very sweet and loving. She loves to give hugs, kisses, and roll over for belly rubs! She meets new people with confidence. She is so tolerant to people and to being touched and petted. She just wants to be loved and spoiled, as she should. She would love to go with you to run errands, stop and get coffee, grab lunch with friends at the brewery, or wherever you want to take her. She loads in and out of the car on her own, and will sit quietly on your trip. I bet she would love to take trips to the beach!
Hazel is great with small dogs! She lives with a small female dog in her foster home, and has lived with a small female dog before. She loves to play with them, and is not too rough. Her current foster-sibling even nips at her face and picks on Hazel, but she doesn’t mind at all. She’s so tolerant! She has been to the “small” dog park and does great there. She also does well with dogs her own size and bigger. She has a more confident and dominant personality, so we just don’t recommend she live with large dominant female dogs.
Hazel has lived with multiple children in the home, ranging from babies to teenagers and does well with them all. She is not too rough or hyper, but she does jump up on people for attention. She did pass her cat test and could possibly live with a calm, dog-savvy, avoidant cat. She might try to chase a more energetic, playful cat.
Hazel is crate trained, potty trained, and knows “sit” and “shake” already. She is working on her leash skills and is making good progress. She does pull a lot, especially when she wants to meet a new dog. She will need a firm handler and continued leash training. She’s not leash reactive and does well meeting other dogs while she’s on leash. She’s just very excited to meet them. She does not resource guard, but she would do best eating from a slow-feeder as she is eager to eat.
We think that Hazel is a 4 year old pittie mix, but with rescue we never know for sure. What we do know is that whomever adopts Hazel is going to be blessed with endless love and affection. You will be greeted home from a long day at work with a very happy, wagging tail. If you are a local (Houston) adopter, we will reduce the adoption fee by $200 (transport costs). We would really like to see this girl stay local as her foster is very attached to her and would like to keep in touch. Don't miss out on this special girl!

Your adoption fee is considered a donation towards actual costs.
Why adopt from Three Little Pitties?
The stray and animal overpopulation in the Greater Houston area is the highest in the nation. Statistics show that there are over 1 million homeless animals in this region alone. Three Little Pitties Rescue is a nonprofit dog and cat rescue that partners with the community to make a difference. Our mission is to reduce the homeless pet population through community outreach, free spay and neuter services, and saving all breeds of dogs and cats from the streets or animal shelters that oftentimes have no other option but to euthanize animals for space. This dog you’ve found online is lucky to be in our program, and even luckier to have you notice it!
Three Little Pitties wants to set you and your new pet up for success! We know our dogs and we work hard to prepare them socially for adoption. We are a network of dedicated people who are heavily invested in seeing our animals thrive. From the moment they are accepted into our program, our Intake, Behavior & Medical teams prepare them for adoption by properly vetting, behaviorally assessing, and providing customized plans depending on the dog’s needs. We seek to adopt to families who understand that these are rescue dogs and will require continued training efforts, but will be well on their way to being the best dogs that they can be!
It doesn’t stop there! Our adopters also receive these special perks:
• 30 day trial of pet insurance with Trupanion (must register within 24 hours of first vet appt.)
• A free private online dog training session with GoodPup plus low pricing for future sessions (approx $25 weekly for an 8 week course of one session per week)
• One free bonus toy in every BarkBox when signing up for their Super Chewer subscription plan
• 70% off of your first order of Fetch, a PNW based, organic fresh dog food loaf meal subscription plan
• Coupons for a fun visit to Petco
• Access to our exclusive FB Adopters page, where you can network for play dates, resources, and connect with other adopters that share their passion for their adopted pup!
We celebrated our 5 year anniversary this year! Through the combined efforts of all of our hardworking staff and volunteers, we have placed over 12,000 very lucky dogs and cats into amazing homes! By adopting from us, you save TWO lives! The pet you adopt, and you create an opportunity for another animal to be saved in that spot. Together, we can be heroes.
