Story
Meet Bella! She is available for adoption but will be staying at her foster home until adopted. If you'd like to meet, please contact the shelter and we will make arrangements for the foster home to contact you about meeting her.Meet Bella! The following information is provided by her foster home:Bella is one of the sweetest dogs I've had the good fortune of knowing. She is loyal, playful, and distributes her love evenly among those she cares about. Be sweet to her and you've got a friend for life. She is outrageously adorable, to boot.Bella loves to go for walks. A daily walk between 30-60 minutes keeps her content, otherwise she can get a little restless. That being said, she does not strike me as one who would need a huge backyard. She mainly uses ours to go potty and saves her activity and sniffing for walks. Using a gentle-guider, she's really well-behaved on a leash. She is reactive to other dog walkers, though. She is aggressive with other dogs and isn't comfortable around children, but she has been fine with both adult men and women. She prefers it when people let her come to them. She gets excited with new people and can tend to jump up and give kisses a little too forcefully. She loves to lick and can be kind of an attention hog! All you have to do is look at her and say her name and she'll start wagging her tail.Bella LOVES her toys, especially plushies. She'll often go get a toy and bring it over to you to play or sometimes just to show it off. She even started knowing them by name! She is a toy destroyer and destuffer and they don't last long. She has even ripped a rubber Kong toy into pieces in under two hours. She is extremely smart. She already seemed to know sit, speak, shake, roll over, kiss, up, and stay. We worked with her on "spin around" and she caught on quickly. Bella is very food motivated. She loves to eat. Teaching her tricks and rewarding her behavior is best done with nibbles in hand. She is also very responsive to love and positive reinforcement. She is sensitive to discipline. She is a velcro dog and she seems to enjoy having someone around at home. She likes a routine. When off routine, she can be anxious. Her best days are comprised of sleeping, eating, belly rubs, following her people around, and going for a long walk. Car rides stress her out. She's excited to get in the car, but once she's in and moving she gets very anxious. She is very well-behaved at home alone, but gets a little sad and prefers to have her people home with her.She likes to snuggle on her terms. She likes to have her own doggy bed nearby so she can freely sleep wherever she wants. She may be older in years old but she acts very young in spirit. She is sweet, cheerful, protective and perceptive. She will alert you (loudly) if someone is at the door or if she hears something unusual.Bella just finished nano laser treatment for a mast cell tumor on her left hind leg. It was successfully removed and she is in clinical remission! She has periodic check-ups to ensure it stays that way. Her next appointment is scheduled for late January. She receives two over-the-counter medications, twice a day. She will need to remain on these for life. They are inexpensive and she will eat them if you just put them on her food. After spending a year and a half with Bella, I would deem her ideal adopter to have:· No other pets and no children· A work-from-home family member so she doesn't get lonely· Acreage for her to run around and explore, or the ability to consistently provide her with a 30-60min walk every day· A routine-based lifestyle - travel and unpredictability cause her stress· Commitment to her cancer follow-up appointments and medication· A desire to both give and receive a whole lotta loveBella is a happy girl who deserves a family that's going to be just as sweet to her as she is to them. A family that will take loving care of her for the rest of her Bella days. If that sounds like you, then I'd love to talk further with you!The dog adoption fee is $90. They come spayed/neutered, microchipped, first set of vaccines including DHPP (parvo combo), Bordatella (kennel cough), and Strongid (wormer). Our website updates every hour, but some animals may be adopted faster than we can get them updated online. Story
We have had Sassy since she was 6 weeks old. She is such a lover. She insists on sleeping on my legs. She sits on her sisters. No sense of boundaries. She barks at anything passing by our yard but she has gotten out a few times and just ran up and gave kisses. Her and her sister (same parents, different litter) get along 95% of the time. But every 6 months or so, when one or both are in heat, they gang up on our other dog. She has bitten the other dog but has never bitten a person. And we have a 5 year old and 1 and a half year old and they both climb all over her and she loves every second of it. She guards our babies. She's a love butt and is so sweet. We have a one year old cat and she loves to play with her too. No chickens though. Sassy will 100% kill your chickens. Not leash trained as they have over an acre to run around on so we never walked them on leashes. She's used to being in the house most of the day and all night.

Story
Maggy is the most loving, kind, and nurturing four legged family member you could ever ask for. She is an indoor dog 100% and very low maintenance. An unfortunate turn of events has sadly required us to find a new home for her. I will include two doggy beds and food/water bowls. Breaks my heart to let her go but some insitutions just don't understand that there are no bad breeds of dogs, only bad owners. And Maggy has had a truly loving environment which she shows to everyone she meets. If you are looking for a gaurd dog then she is not for you because she hardly ever barks and is more likely to greet a stranger with a wagging tail than anything else.

Story
Camilla is a cross breed of an American Staffordshire Terrier and a Labrador Retriever.  She is small in size and has beautiful markings.  Camilla does pretty well as she loves going for walks with anyone and has worked well on her leash manners.     She can be a little excited at first but really anticipates her daily walks or time in the yard.  She is a sweetheart when all is said and done.  You can find Camilla lounging in her house most days, or laying in the warm rays of the sun.  She also very much loves to run around and be sprayed off with the water hose which will most likely make her a great dog to join with you at the river or lake.     Camilla is spayed, fully vaccinated and microchipped.  She can also be transported to anywhere in the United States and Canada.   ##1501879##

Story
Meet GrimmMy name is Grimm and I’m on the hunt for my fairy tail ending. I am a Pitbull Presa Canario mix according to my DNA test. And by looking at my color, one would think I’m cookies and cream ice cream but my proof paper says I’m part Neopawlitan Mastiif ice cream. Cool! I sound yummy. Foster Mom says I’m a big loving goof ball but one would think soccer ball based on my coloring. Or futbol as my Spanish hairytage might say. I’m quite a regal breed mix. Staffordshire England and Presa Canario Spanish, wow, fancy. No wonder I wear a tuxedo-ish outfit. I love all sports such as playing in water, team sports such as romping in the yard with my mates and any other outdoor games whether it’s a futbol, football or soccer ball. When I’m not having fun, you can find me chilling on the floor or couch. I’m house and crate trained too. I know SIT and leash walking. I can learn a bunch more if you teach me, I’m a quick learner and very attentive to humans. After all, they know how to open treat jars. I am good with other dogs and kids. I haven’t bothered the kittens in the cat condo but more testing could be done if you have cats. I’m pretty sweet though, so might be fine. I would be very happy and proud to be your dog. Oh, and although my DNA test doesn’t list it specifically, I’m also 100% Hunk and 100% Good Boy but if that math doesn’t add up, don’t worry, dog math works different. Basics:Grimm- neutered male, large, DOB 1/16/21, white/black spots, vaccinated, chipped, American Staffordshire Terrier/Presa Canario, house/crate trained, good with dogs, good with kids, okay with cats (more tests needed), playful, attentive, sweet, knows sit and has leash experience How To Adopt:Pitty Paws Bully Rescue in Victoria Texas. Great semi energetic snuggly little boy!! Please contact us to submit an application directly at Kzyrnr17@yahoo.com or info@dogdiggityrescue.com or  https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HTX/Exotic/Other Rubble is a 6 mos old  (DOB 8 Feb 2023) 40 lb Boxer/Retriever mix.  He will be a medium to large dog as an adult.  Rubble, his mom (45 lb) and littermates were found running down access road of a highway when they were 5 weeks old.  Everyone in litter and mom died of Distemper (due to owner not giving them shots).  Rubble is the sole survivor.  He will be special needs throughout his life.  He is a very special puppy that has tons of love to give and loves all humans, children, playing with other polite /low energy dogs, playing with toys and visiting with volunteers/staff getting chicken /treats. Did we say he LOVES his humans?  When he plays and does his walk abouts you do not see any affects of distemper.  He is crate trained, walks on a leash and loves car rides.  He will benefit from some continued obediance training and public socialization with new environmental objects.  He will play, then will hang out on the couch or your lap.  He requires an owned home with a securely fenced yard in a colder climate as the hot TX temperature is not conducive to his health.   He is looking for a special needs mixed breed dog experienced family.  He will do best with another dog companion and someone that works from home or caregiver (female) is home.    No apartments.   Courtesay post for the Helotes Humane Society.
