Story
Meet Comet! Here is a bit about him, in his own words… or woofs… -I LOVE toys but not small ones, bones to chew and I get the zoomies all the time. -I’m very loving, I’m learning how to cuddle and love to lay on the couch with a bone. -I think I would like a doggy friend but also could be happy as an only dog. -I’ve been neutered and got a clean bill of health from the vet as well. -I would love someone who would work with me on learning better leash skills and manners training. Comet was a shelter pull at risk of euthanasia due to space and the time he had been there. We were able to get him full vaccinated, neutered, and even allergy tested. He’s been doing great on the specific allergy friendly food he is on. We are thankful we could give him the chance at a forever life by bringing him to our rescue and helping him on his journey to finding a family! If Comet sounds like he could be a match, please fill out an application on our website.

Story
Meet Reba! This sweet girl was unfortunately dealt a tough start to life where she was chained in the backyard and neglected to a point where her collar had to be surgically removed from her neck. The sweet lady has made incredible strides in her life since then and we know the right family will leave all her bad memories in the past and fill up her future with only love. We’ve made up a list for what this special girl would like in a forever home: -An active home with lots of walks and time to play ball. -I am crate trained but it’s not my favorite place so I would love to sleep in bed and cuddle on the couch with you. -Older kids would be best since I can be a little hyper I might knock a little one down. -She is open to having a doggy sibling but no cats If interested in applying for Reba, please fill out an application on our website. She can’t wait to meet you!

Story
Meet Frannie: Ready to Start a New Chapter in Her Life! Frannie is a true survivor and a loving soul who has dedicated herself to raising her 7 precious babies. Now, it's her turn to find the loving home she truly deserves! Frannie is a well-behaved girl who's potty trained and crate trained, although she's such a good girl that she doesn't really need to be crated. She's a social butterfly who adores other dogs and relishes in playtime. Frannie's boundless energy and love for fun make her the perfect companion for active households! Frannie does have a special requirement—a fully fenced-in yard, preferably with a privacy fence. She's quite the jumper and wants to ensure she stays safe in her new home. This sweet girl thrives on attention and affection. She's a cuddle expert who loves to be petted and is as sweet as can be. Frannie came to the rescue pregnant, and all her 7 babies have found their forever homes. Now, it's time for Frannie to have her own loving family. She may not be a fan of small dogs, but we believe she could do wonderfully with a larger male companion. If you have a heart full of love and a fully fenced yard that Frannie can call her own, she's waiting for you with open paws and a heart full of affection. Give Frannie the loving home she's been longing for.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. If interested in any of our animals for adoption, or to foster an animal, please fill out the respective application here to get the process started. Visit our FAQ webpage for commonly asked questions about our adoption/foster process. Tiger is an extremely cuddly dog - he would be content to spend all day long snuggled up on the couch with his person! He makes an excellent blanket, and will climb right on top of people and lay down to be as close to them as possible. While he is very calm and loving when he is comfortable with people, he can get anxious in new situations and become overstimulated easily. He will let you know when he is overstimulated with his high energy and inability to settle down. We are working on being calm in new situations, but he would still like a home that will give him the time he needs to get used to everything new. Once he is comfortable with you, his calm and snuggly personality will come out! Tiger is also very smart and easy to train - he can learn a new trick or behavior in minutes! He picks up on repeated behaviors easily, and will start to anticipate what gets him rewarded at specific times of day or following certain environmental clues. Because of this, he absolutely thrives with a routine. So far, Tiger has learned "sit", "down", "paw", "other paw", "leave it", "stay", and "come", and is also doing pretty well with "drop", "mat", "crate", and "roll over". He walks very well on a leash and only pulls if he sees a cat or squirrel. This prey drive means he probably wouldn't do well in a home with a cat, but may do okay with another dog as long as he has plenty of time to get used to them slowly. His overexcitement at meeting new dogs tends to put them off, and he isn't great at taking their social cues of not wanting to play. Similarly, he isn't used to being around kids and may be overstimulated by their energy at first.  Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.Last Day Dog Rescue now microchips all animals before adoption. Microchips are implanted between the animals shoulder blades and are a permanent form of identification. The microchips are registered to Last Day Dog Rescue with the adopter's info added once adopted. If the animal is ever lost and slips his/her collar/tags the microchip allows the finder to know who to contact if scanned for a microchip. Animals MUST still have a collar with tags on at all times. Per our contract, we take all our animals back if for any reason you can't keep your adopted animal. Please understand the statements about this animal are based upon the foster home's evaluation of the animal. The animal might behave differently (negatively or positively) in your home. While the animal might be good with the current foster’s dogs, cats, children, etc., it may not be with your animal(s) or children. The animal may be housebroken or litter trained in the home of the foster but may relapse in your home. The animal is represented to the public as it performs in the foster home and any statements made regarding the animal are conditional to that foster home setting. Please understand that statements made regarding this animal are simply overviews and are not guaranteed. The Petfinder.com system requires that we choose a predominant breed or breed mix for our animals. Visual breed identification in animals is unreliable so for most of the animals we are only guessing at predominant breed or breed mix. We get to know each animal as an individual and will do our best to describe each of our animals based on personality, not by breed label. Thank you for looking through our list of animals needing forever homes and choosing rescue first. We appreciate you stopping by. April 23, 2024, 8:59 pm

Story
They call me Exuberant, Handsome and Sweet but you can choose a new name for me when we adopt each other. I don’t care what you call me, as long as you call me. I’m a happy dog who loves people more than anything else in the world. I’m a 4 year old Pitbull Lab (?) mix, with a 22” collar and am very big and strong. The Vet said I weigh 73 pounds. Don’t let that scare you because I am just a mushy ball of love. I like to let everyone know how happy I am to see them by twirling around and wagging my tail as fast as it will go. This is usually when they call me Exuberant. I like to have fun. Because I’m such a good boy, I’m allowed in the house and have good potty manners. I prefer being inside with people at night especially. You can hold the TV remote for us. Since I have a lot of energy and need exercise, your large fenced yard will be well-used. My foster peeps say I need a family, not a job. They know that I’m a quick learner and will be someone’s best dog ever with some training. Because I’m big and young at heart, my new humans should have some experience with dogs and be able to work with someone of my stature. I promise I will try to do everything you ask enthusiastically. Fortunately, my past dog life doesn’t include any physical abuse so I’m not afraid of people or other animals. I don’t like loud booming noises (fireworks or dynamite) or gunfire so I wouldn’t be a good hunting dog. Health wise, I am terrific; up to date on shots and tested negative for heartworms. Recently I was tricked into getting “tutored” and woke up with my bubbles missing. Foster peeps say it means I will get my forever home very soon! Maybe it’s yours!
