Story
Missy is one of the silliest and sweetest dogs you will ever meet! This 2 year old Aussie/Heeler mix is also a big ball of energy who absolutely loves playing with her humans as well as her foster dog brothers. She even gets along with the cats in her foster home as well! Missy is a tri-colored, medium sized girl who should be all done growing topping out at around 41 lbs, is crate/house trained, and is super smart as she picks up training lessons quick. Her new adoption family will still need to be committed to continuing this training and building upon it along with providing plenty of exercise and enrichment to be a true success. Since she is still learning and on the higher energy side, we would recommend her go to a house with older children and/or active adults. Missy loves belly rubs, nylabones, giving kisses, and toys of all kinds as well! Come meet this adorable sweetheart today! One of Missy's favorite things to do is cuddle up with her humans. Will literally snuggle into your lap. So if you're looking for a cuddly companion, Missy is a sure fit! Missy is available to adopt in the Chicagoland area and is being fostered in a home. Appointments to visit her will be set up for approved adopters only. Adoption fee is $300.00 which includes all appropriate vaccines, and she is spayed and microchipped. Missy would do best in a home with children 10 years old and up. Please visit our website at http://newstartdogrescue.org and fill out an application if you are interested.

Story
Blue is an attractive, male, 28 pound Blue Heeler who is about 3-4 years old. People he meets on his neighborhood walks frequently comment on what a beautiful dog he is. Blue loves to go to the dog park where he runs playfully with all the other dogs. He is friendly and interactive. When he meets other dogs while he is on a leash, he is more apt to be reactive. Blue is a sweet pooch who will bond strongly with his family. When he first meets people he is cautious and worried that their outreached hands mean they will hit him, not pet him. He would live best with a person or family with a fenced in yard and without small children and cats. Is Blue housebroken? Well, sort of. He can sleep through the night with no problem at all. During the day he has to pee shortly after drinking water. He is on a water/pee schedule to manage this. He eats a prescription dog food that keeps his chronic GI condition in check. Blue is a smart dog who would benefit from formal dog training sessions with his new owner. This would encourage the bonding process between them and help him learn the behaviors that are expected of him. With consistency, patience and understanding, Waylon will give back to ‘his person’ unlimited affection and devotion. If you would like to meet him, contact Teri at 630-897-7454. His adoption fee is $150. Adoption fee includes: - microchip - spay/neuter - age appropriate vaccinations: Bordetella, DH(L)PP, rabies - heartworm preventive & flea/tick preventive - deworming

Story
Ostentatia Wallace is a gentle, thoughtful soul who has quietly mastered the art of being an excellent house companion. She is fully house trained, non-destructive, and respectful of her surroundings—no counter surfing, no table begging, and no mischief when left alone. She crates well (with just a short moment to settle) and is incredibly easy to live with, making her the kind of dog who quickly feels like she’s always belonged. This smart girl is eager to please and very attentive to her people. She enjoys being near her humans, soaking up affection and attention, and loves being handled and petted. While she’s not a fan of being picked up (she’s a sturdy 60 lbs, after all!), she shows her affection by staying close and being a calm, loving presence. She already knows “sit” and, with her intelligence and willingness to learn, she has so much potential to pick up more cues and confidence-building skills. Outdoors, Ostentatia enjoys exploring and taking in her surroundings at her own pace. She isn’t particularly toy-motivated or fetch-focused, preferring relaxed romps and sniffing adventures. On leash, she can be reactive when she sees other dogs or people, and this behavior appears to be fear-based, likely due to limited leash experience earlier in life. With patience, consistency, and positive reinforcement, she has every chance to make progress and feel more secure on walks. At home, Ostentatia shines brightest. She naps comfortably during the day, sleeps well in her crate at night (though she’d happily trade that for a spot in bed someday), and settles beautifully into a routine. She does best with older kids and teens (13+), and while her experience with cats is unknown, her overall demeanor is calm and affectionate. Ostentatia Wallace is a truly good girl—steady, loving, and ready for a home that will continue to help her grow in confidence while appreciating the wonderful dog she already is. Interested in adopting this dog? Visit our website (http://www.SecondCityCanineRescue.org) to fill out an application and to find out where this dog may be shown this weekend. We love our dogs. Story
Hi, I'm Bucky! Thanks for checking me out! I know my cute face is hard to resist, but here's the scoop: I'll need a lot of your time and attention as I grow up into the amazing adult dog I'm destined to be! I'm looking for a forever family that will help me with socialization, training (yes, that includes house training!), and plenty of exercise. And let's not forget the chewing and teething-I'm still learning what's okay (and what's definitely not okay) to put in my mouth. So, be ready for some puppy-proofing! Don't forget those vet visits! I'll need to stay up to date on my boosters and vaccines, which means a few trips to see my favorite vet in the first few months. But trust me, all that effort will be worth it when you experience the endless love, puppy kisses, and pure joy I'll bring into your life. So, if you're up for the challenge and the fun, why not come meet me in person? Stop by during our adoption hours. For more details, email bloomingdale@ahconnects.org or give us a call at 847-697-2880 x: 90. The friendly folks here will be happy to answer all your questions! Can't wait to meet you and start our adventure together! All of our dogs and puppies go home spayed or neutered, microchipped, and heartworm tested (for dogs 7 months and older). They are also up to date on core vaccines, as well as heartworm, flea, and tick preventatives. Each adoption includes a 3.5-pound bag of dog or puppy food and a free vet exam at one of our participating veterinary partners.

WE DO NOT DO OUT OF STATE ADOPTIONS Thank you for considering the adoption of one of our rescue dogs. We are committed to finding our rescues the perfect home. Together we can make a difference in the life of a dog. The adoption process should be a fun and exciting time for families and dogs. Our goal is to place our babies in forever homes. The potential adopter needs to be dedicated to their care and training for life. Understand that sharing your life with a dog can be a commitment of 15+ years. This would include feeding, exercise, training, vetting, and providing a loving home. Ask yourself, "Am I ready for this type of commitment?" If you are ready, we are here to help. We do have some requirements to help us find the perfect placement of our babies. WE ARE A FOSTER BASED RESCUE ONLY. WE DO NOT HAVE A PHYSICAL BUILDING 1. Apply online at https://www.foreverhomedogrescueil.org We must have an application, conduct a phone interview, and meet your entire family (including other dogs) to approve an adoption. Only a final approval for adoption can take place after a successful meet and greet. This is done by appointments only. We will not proceed with the adoption if everyone has not met the dog. This will allow others the opportunity to adopt the dog. 2. Adopters MUST be 25 years old. Information on all adults/members living in the home is required We REQUIRE you to provide proof and vet reference that all current and past pets have been kept up to date on all routine medical. 3. Illinois law requires that all of our dogs and puppies be spayed/neutered within 30 days of adoption. In order to fully comply with this regulation and reduce the number of homeless dogs and puppies, 4. If you do not own your home, you must provide landlord contact information on the application and a copy of your lease that outlines the rules for dog ownership in your residence. Large breed dogs will not be adopted into apartment settings or where there are breed/ size restrictions. Puppies have special needs and require a home where someone is available to care for, socialize, and give basic training.
