Story
Rooster Meet Rooster, a 1-year, 7-month-old Australian Cattle Dog with a big personality, an even bigger love for water, and all the intelligence, athleticism, and energy his breed is known for.Rooster has really come into his own! Thanks to regular outings and enrichment, he`s become much more confident and genuinely enjoys meeting new people. Whether he`s attending community events, visiting local pet stores, or heading out on an adventure, Rooster happily greets adults, kids, and other dogs with a wagging tail and loves soaking up attention. If there`s water nearby, you can bet Rooster will find it! Kiddie pools are one of his favorite things, and at our Fast & Furriest event, he was the only dog who enthusiastically jumped in to cool off. He`s happiest when he has an outlet for his energy, whether that`s splashing around, exploring, or joining you for a run. During a recent 2.5-mile run, he started off a little overexcited but quickly settled into an excellent running partner. Even when an off-leash dog unexpectedly lunged at him, Rooster simply created space instead of reacting, showing just how level-headed he can be.Rooster has been a star on his shelter outings. At Fast & Furriest, he greeted people, children, and dogs with ease, rode well in the car, and showed off his playful personality. During a visit to Pet Supplies Plus, he quickly won everyone over with his friendly nature, enjoyed attention from kids and adults alike, and played wonderfully with both Manchi and Denali. He`s still polishing a few manners—like remembering that every water bowl isn`t a swimming pool and gaining confidence hopping into the car on his own—but he`s eager to learn and continues to make great progress. And if you`re wondering what treats win him over, skip the French fries... this picky guy would much rather have meat!Rooster is potty trained and was surrendered because of his strong herding instincts, so he`ll thrive with an adopter who understands working breeds and can provide structure, consistency, and plenty of mental and physical enrichment.Rooster has enjoyed making both male and female dog friends at the shelter, though he tends to be a bit more selective with male dogs. As with any dog, proper introductions are important to help set him up for success. He would do best in a home without small children. If you`re looking for a smart, active companion who loves adventures, making a splash, and being part of

Meet Freckles — Red-Spotted, Smart, and Sweet-as-Pie Freckles is a 1 year, 7-month-old Cattle Dog/Pit mix with the cutest red freckles you’ve ever seen and a heart full of potential. She’s silly, smart, and secretly a snugglebug... once she trusts you. Nervous Nellie at first — new people and places make her shy, but give her time and patience, and you’ll unlock the most loyal little lovebug you’ve ever met.* Once she’s comfy, she’s: • A total lap dog• Can’t control her licker (seriously, brace for kisses!)• Treat and toy obsessed• Professionally trained – sit, down, stay, come, and even waits politely for her food ??• Crate trained and house-ready!!! A few things about our freckled friend:*Needs a secure fenced yard*No kids – too scary.*No cats – hard pass.VERY SCARY *Could be OK with a respectful, calm dog friend. Forward dogs are very scary. ??*Needs someone with herding breed or high-energy dog experience*Looking for an adventure buddy who’ll give her lots of enrichment and guidanceShe’s got that “nervous at first, best friend forever” energy — and if you’re patient and kind, Freckles will blossom into your shadow, your hiking pal, your snuggle partner, and your little ray of sunshine. ??Are you the one for her? Come meet Freckles!

Story
Millie — A Soft Soul Learning That Home Can Be SafeMillie came to the shelter after being surrendered due to unforeseen circumstances. She arrived very shut down, fearful, and unsure of the world around her—overwhelmed by even simple everyday sights and sounds. As a sensitive cattle dog-type, she needed time, space, and patience to begin decompressing and learning that she was finally safe.Since entering foster care, Millie has truly started to blossom. The shy, unsure girl is still there—but she is now layered with a growing affectionate, playful, and deeply loving side that is beginning to shine through. In her foster home, Millie has discovered the joy of comfort and connection. She loves attention and will happily curl up next to anyone willing to share the couch. She enjoys lying on the deck soaking up the sun and taking in the world at her own pace. At night, she is a dedicated snuggler—once she’s settled in bed, she stays put until morning, soaking up closeness and security.Millie has done very well with the 8-year-old child in the home and has shown that once she trusts her environment, she can be gentle, affectionate, and deeply bonded with her people. She is also house-trained and has been doing well being left alone for a couple of hours without needing a crate, though she does not tolerate kenneling well. She enjoys her daily walks and benefits from activity to help her release energy. Like many cattle dog mixes, she can become focused on movement—she loves chasing squirrels—so an adopter who can confidently guide her on leash is important. She appears to prefer male dogs over females and enjoys canine company once she has had time to warm up, though introductions should always be slow and thoughtful.Millie is: House-trained Affectionate and highly cuddly with her people Good with respectful children (has lived successfully with an 8-year-old) Crate-averse (does better left loose for short periods) Dog-selective (may prefer males; slow introductions required) Active and enjoys daily walks and enrichmentMillie is still a sensitive dog at heart, but she is no longer shut down. She is learning how to trust, how to relax, and how to love her people back. With patience, structure, and a home that understands both her softness and her energy, Millie is ready to fully unfold into the devoted companion she was always meant to be.
