You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. Brooks is a playful, sweet-hearted pup who will always make you smile! He loves to entertain himself (and you!) by tossing his toys in the air and catching them. He’s a one-dog comedy show. When he’s not clowning around, he’s a total cuddlebug who loves curling up in your lap for snuggles and sleeping through the night (preferably in bed with his person). Brooks is doing well with housetraining. He’s had just one accident and keeps his kennel clean. He weighs about 25 pounds and is great on a leash, enjoying walks and the company of other dogs. He recently met a neighbor’s similar-sized female dog and, after a proper introduction, play-bowed and had a great time! He has done well in the kennel and has not shown reactivity when being let out. He was initially reactive when in his kennel. Because Brooks is young, energetic, and still learning boundaries, he would do best in a home with no kids. He can be mouthy and sometimes treats hands like toys, so he’ll need continued guidance and consistency. Brooks can also be protective of his food and high-value items like a Kong, so care should be taken during mealtimes and when giving chews or toys. When taking treats, though, he’s been gentle. With time, patience, and positive reinforcement, Brooks will continue to grow into the confident, loving companion he’s meant to be. History: We welcomed a group recently from a partnering organization of ours, Villalobos Animal Rescue. Zille is a sweet fella who is working hard on his trust and confidence and is hoping to find a patient and quieter environment where he will thrive in! A Note from the Foster: Zille has come a long way coming out of his shell. Zelle has got along with all the dogs he’s met. No interest in my cat. Also, did well with kids. Zille is very sweet and loves attention on his terms. He is pretty independent, he’s happy to be near you but also just fine chewing on a dog bone by himself. He’s doing great on potty training. Loves food and treats! Zille is a gentleman. He has never chewed on anything he shouldn’t. He sleeps on his dog bed but also does well in a crate. He is still learning about the good life and all dog things. He is startled easily still and needs reassurance. We are still working on walking a leash, he is still pretty uncomfortable but showing improvement. If you’re looking for an easy going, low maintenance, sweet boy Zille might be the perfect companion for you.

A program launched to make an impactful difference for our partner shelters in Texas facing the overpopulation of animals with limited resources and low adoption rates. We are excited to help these southern gems find loving forever homes to call their own! A Note from the Foster: Astra arrived to rescue with her puppies who were old enough to go on their own. She is doing wonderfully and really coming out of her shell. She loves, loves, loves the snow despite being a southern gal. She seems to be housebroken and potties outside when she is let out, loves other dogs, does not show any interest or attention to the resident cats, and is quiet in her crate. She seems to enjoy car rides and is up for adventure if she is so lucky to be invited to go! She has a good time playing with toys and they keep her busy for quite a while. Astra is an A+ petite girl with a fun personality guaranteed to make you smile and laugh! Affectionately called Scaredy-Mere or Mere-Bear. From my nicknames, you might’ve already guessed that I am still fearful of strangers, but I am also a bit of a cuddle bug. It doesn’t take too long for me to open up, though! After some TLC and patience for a day or so, I’ll let you know when I’m ready. If you give me a chance, I might even come right up to you, with my cold, wet nose almost touching your face, and look right at you as I gently lean in for pets. This is my way of letting you know I’m open to trust, and hoping you’ll just give me some love in return. Once we get to know each other, I might even give you a kiss! I am perfectly sized at around 35-40lbs, but I am probably smaller than you’d expect from my description and pictures. My foster thinks I might be a red hound mixed with a corgi, and maybe even some sausage dog. I have a beautiful ginger coat, golden-orange eyes that match, floppy ears, and short legs for my torso (or a long torso for my legs)-kind of like a corgi with a hound body. Definitely compact through the mid and very sturdy… Yes-I am as cute as I sound, and even sweeter! At night, I like to cuddle. I’ll come right to the head of the bed and lay on your pillows with you. I won’t go anywhere if you give me pets and don’t move around too much. If the bed gets too crowded, I’ll go to the floor and find a small space (like a crate or under the bed) to hide out until morning. I could easily be crate trained, and settle when I am in, but I am such a good girl that I get to roam free! I never have accidents, and prefer napping over snooping (unless there’s food in the dog bowls-in that case, I lick them clean). When I’m outside, I do have a prey drive and love to catch a new scent (this is why they’re thinking hound), but can easily be redirected and never resist going back inside. I’m great on leash and you honestly probably wouldn’t guess how scared of people I am if you saw me walking by on the street. I act very normal-even if there are loud sounds and changes in the environment (like snow). I still show interest in others dogs when they’re being walked by their humans. I even seem to be okay when people are walking in my general direction and around me. But if a person I don’t know tries to touch me or take my leash, that’s when I run to hide. Otherwise, I really don’t pull and know to trust the person holding the leash. I’m not very energetic, but will sometimes play with my pittie foster sister. Nothing too rough, but I can definitely stand my ground! I’m surprisingly confident when I’m solo, but another dog in the home would help me feel more at home sooner than later. I’m currently taking medication for my anxiety-it helps with stressful situations like transitions and meeting new people. But once I find my forever home, I might be able to be weaned off because I get so much confidence from my caretakers. So once I know you’re not going anywhere, I might not need it! I’ll just count on you to let me know everything is ok.
