Story
Ruby is approximately 8-9 years old and has been a member of our family for the past 7 years. She is a snuggler and a “go anywhere” with you dog. She will be a little shy in new situations, so will need comfort in a lap to observe, but once she feels safe, she is fun-loving and gets along GREAT with other dogs, cats, and kids of all ages.My home circumstances have changed and I can no longer provide her best life. She is a wonderful companion dog and I am searching for a home where she will be the only dog and not have to compete for attention.

Story
Meet Otis, a young pup with a big heart, a loyal spirit, and a bright future ahead. Otis is one of our special Ridglan Farms Beagles who recently got a second chance after spending the first year of his life in a commercial breeding and research facility. Now, he's discovering all the wonderful things life has to offer—soft beds, tasty treats, toys, and, most importantly, the love and security of a family. At just over a year old, Otis is already a pro at cuddling and keeping a watchful eye on his people. He's your classic "shadow" dog who loves to stay close and snuggle whenever he can. He's happiest when he's part of the action, whether that's relaxing on the couch, playing in the yard with his dog and cat friends, or doing his adorable little prance at mealtime (raw food is definitely his favorite!). Otis is crate trained, leash trained, and almost fully potty trained. Like many dogs experiencing home life for the first time, he's still learning, but he's a quick study and enjoys having a predictable routine. He sleeps soundly at night, especially when he can be near his person or his canine companions. He's gentle with other dogs and cats and would do best in a calm home with older, considerate children. Because much of the world is still new to him, Otis appreciates slow introductions, patience, and encouragement as he continues building confidence. He can be wary of unfamiliar men and doesn't enjoy being left alone in a closed room, but he's making wonderful progress with the help of a trainer. His adopter should be committed to continuing that positive reinforcement and helping him discover that the world is a safe place. Otis isn't destructive and loves collecting bones and toys, strategically placing them around the house for later. He's adaptable, affectionate, surprisingly brave (even in the rain!), and eager to bond with the people he loves. Dogs like Otis are incredibly rewarding to watch blossom. With a patient family willing to let him settle in at his own pace, you'll have the privilege of watching him experience life's everyday joys—many for the very first time. In return, you'll gain a devoted companion whose gratitude and loyalty run deep. If you're looking for a sweet, loving Beagle who's ready to leave his past behind and embrace a lifetime of love, Otis may be the perfect addition to your family. Apply today and help him write the next chapter of his incredible journey. Otis' Ideal Home: The ideal home is a house with a fenced in yard, a quiet environment, a work-from-home owner, another dog is preferred, a single woman or couple where the man is kind, patient and willing to work with Otis would be good for him. Story
About The Ridglan Farms Beagles In May 2026, The Rescue Crew welcomed nine beagles rescued from the Ridglan Farms research breeding facility. For many of these dogs, life in a foster home has been their first experience with things most dogs take for granted—soft beds, toys, walks, backyards, and the love and companionship of a family. Over the past several weeks, these remarkable dogs have been settling into foster homes, receiving veterinary care, and learning what it means to simply be a dog. While each beagle is unique, many are still building confidence and adjusting to a world that is entirely new to them. Several of these special dogs are now beginning the search for their forever homes. What to Expect Adopting a former research beagle can be incredibly rewarding, but it is not always easy. These dogs may require additional patience, understanding, and support as they continue adjusting to life outside of a commercial breeding environment. Some may still be working on: House training Leash walking Confidence building Navigating new environments Being left alone Exposure to everyday sights, sounds, and experiences Progress often happens in small steps. The most successful adopters are those who celebrate those victories and allow the dog to move at their own pace. Adoption Requirements To help ensure successful placements, applicants must meet the following minimum requirements: Fenced yard required No apartments No young children in the household Strong veterinary history, with current pets up-to-date on routine veterinary care and spayed/neutered Live within approximately 4 hours of the Twin Cities metro area Preferences Given To: While not required, preference may be given to applicants who: Have another confident dog in the home Have previous beagle or hound experience Can provide a schedule where the dog will not be left alone for extended periods, particularly during the initial adjustment period. Important Information At this time, all Ridglan Farms beagles currently available for adoption are male. We are accepting applications for the Ridglan beagles as a group rather than for specific dogs. Our goal is to carefully match each dog with the home that best fits their personality, needs, and long-term success. Because of the significant interest in these dogs, we expect to receive more qualified applications than available dogs. Submitting an application does not guarantee adoption. Applications will be reviewed based on overall fit, and selected applicants will be contacted regarding next steps. ---------- WHERE IS THIS PET LOCATED? The Rescue Crew is a foster-based rescue, which means all of our pets are cared for in homes throughout Minnesota. Story
Meet Lexie! She is a happy, energetic 6-year-old Beagle mix weighing about 45 pounds. A very loyal dog that loves to follow you around the house and lay at your feet. Lexie's favorite activities include chasing balls or the flirt pole and going on walks and hikes. Needs an adult household without any children or cats. She gets anxious around small children and bit our toddler. Enjoys the company of other dogs in the home but is reactive to strange dogs when on leash. Lexie has an indomitable spirit and boundless happy energy!

Story
Meet Raya, a 5-year-old spayed Beagle who is ready to find her forever family. 🧡🐾 Raya has safely landed in foster care and is now looking for an adopter who will give her the calm, loving home she deserves. She’s a gentle, loyal girl who thrives with stability, routine, and people who understand that trust is something special to build. Here’s what makes Raya such a wonderful companion: • 🐶 Does well with dogs after slow, thoughtful introductions • 👩 Friendly with women, older kids, and strangers • 🚽 Fully house trained • 🐕 Loves daily walks and dog park adventures • 💛 Loyal, affectionate, and deeply bonded once she trusts you • 🎓 Knows basic obedience Raya can be a little protective of “her person” and appreciates being given time to settle in and get comfortable with new people and dogs. She does best when introductions are calm and expectations are gentle. Once she feels safe, her sweet personality shines and she becomes an incredibly devoted companion who wants nothing more than to be by your side. Raya has done the hard part—she made it through the transition and is ready for the next chapter. Now she’s looking for a family who will give her the patience, consistency, and love she needs to truly feel at home. If you’re searching for a loyal sidekick with a gentle heart and lots of love to give, Raya would love to meet you. 🧡🐾

Story
This is Tortoise🐢 Named for his beautiful coloring but fits his demeanor as-well. Tortoise is proof that chill can be cool! Tortoise is about 7 years old and has all the perks of being a dog that age. He can still act like a puppy at playtime but is happy to cuddle right up for snuggle time. His favorite time of day is cuddling up for TV time, and also getting his morning zoomies out in the yard. Tortoise would love other dog siblings in the home, but would happily be your only companion, provided that you spend a lot of time at home. No Cats or other small creatures, unlike turtles, Tortoise has a strong prey drive. He also shows some signs of separation anxiety, so would prefer time alone to be minimal. Tortoise will need some help with leash etiquette; he has a strong prey drive so will pull towards critters. He loves to be involved with whatever you're doing. Special talents include: "helping" to change the sheets on the beds (if you need a dog to sit right on them, he's your guy), worming his way onto a warm lap for cuddles, and can even dry himself off after going out in the rain (provided a human puts down a towel for him). If you think Tortoise is turtley the Dog for you, apply to meet him today! 💚 Tortoise is from Texas. They arrive in Minnesota on 7/11/2026 and will need to be picked up from the Ruff Start Rescue office in Princeton, MN between the hours of 9am and noon. Please plan for their arrival accordingly as we cannot accommodate pickups outside of this time frame. Since they haven’t arrived yet, they are available exclusively through Ruff Start’s Foster to Adopt (FTA) Program. Visit our Foster to Adopt Program page to learn more. Once they get to Minnesota, they might require further veterinary care. Ruff Start’s veterinary suite is located in Princeton, MN, and, as the foster, you will be required to transport your dog to and from these vetting appointments.
