Bobby has a puppy-sized heart and a whole world he’s excited to discover! He’s playful, energetic, curious, and SUCH a sweet boy.
Bobby loves to do zoomies around our fenced backyard, then happily flop down on the patio for a nap. His perfect day would be spent completely outside adventuring and relaxing with his family. He loves daily walks to learn all about the world and work out his energy, and he’s gone from timidly slinking along with his tail tucked to confidently leading the way for adventures.
At home, Bobby caught on to our routines quickly. He’s potty trained and crate trained, settles nicely in his crate at bedtime, and hasn’t shown any interest in destroying anything he’s not supposed to. He likes being near his people and will happily hang out in the same room, though he’s usually more independent than cuddly. Once he trusts you, he’ll sit beside you and invite you to rub his belly and is more than happy to accept all the kisses you can give.
Bobby absolutely loves other dogs, especially friendly and predictable ones. He enjoys trying to play with his 11 yo foster brother who has been patiently teaching him that playtime has boundaries. Bobby is learning, although his puppy energy can occasionally be a little too much for an older dog. A home with a confident pup playmate or regular opportunities for playdates would be ideal for him. (Note: a pup with a very aggressive-seeming style of play wouldn’t be a great match - he doesn’t yet understand the difference between “aggressive” play and real danger.)
Bobby is fantastic with adults and warms up to them quickly. He is anxious around kids, particularly younger ones, so we’re gently introducing him to calm neighborhood children to help him learn that they aren’t scary. A quieter to moderately active home would be the best fit. He’s still learning about the world and some new or unexpected sights and sounds can startle him. But watching his confidence grow over the past three weeks has been incredibly rewarding.
Bobby’s ideal family will have the time and energy to give him plenty of exercise, patience to help him continue building confidence, and a securely fenced yard where he can regularly run and explore off-leash. He’d love a canine companion, too. Especially one who could zoom around with him!
He’s still very much a puppy in both body and mind, and he’s learning things every day. He can get a little mouthy when he’s excited, sometimes playfully nipping at his foster family’s legs, but he responds beautifully to redirection and has already made great progress toward using his mouth gently and appropriately.
And that’s what makes Bobby so special: he’s learning. Give him a little patience, guidance, and reassurance, and he rises to the occasion. In just three weeks he has become noticeably more confident, adventurous, and comfortable in his world. He’s a smart and observant little guy!
Bobby is good natured, adorable, curious, and eager to be part of someone’s life. He wants to play, explore, learn, snuggle when he’s ready, and, above all, spend time with his whole family. If you’re looking for a sweet young beagle who will keep you laughing while you help him discover the world, Bobby might just be your guy.
