Story
Meet Sebastian! Sebastian is a special kind of boy.  He has a pretty rough life that only he knows what happened.  He lost his eye due to some kind of blunt injury and it left him a bit skittish if he can see you.  He is the kind of boy that really loves to be one persons dog.  He does amazing with our whole family (5 of us) and other dogs.  But trust is something you earn with him.  He will need time to warm up and meet and greets do not always go well but if you give him a chance he will surprise you.  He loves to snuggle, does great in his kennel even though he does not need to be kenneled.  He is house broken, does great in the car and loves walks.  Sebastian deserves so much more than his past, but he will need the most amazing people to give him is future.  Will that be you? Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, alter, prepaid microchip, dewormed, Rabies vaccine, DAPP vaccine, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX , flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Story
My name is Mason and I am in search of my forever home. I am a beagle mix born 1/20/23 and I weigh about 43 lbs. If you are looking for a running partner, I’m your guy! I still need leash training cuz I get a little over excited and forget my manners and tend to pull. I am a great jumper too. My foster mom thinks with the right training I could compete in agility competitions. I’m willing to try if you are! I love to go on car rides, but my tummy doesn’t always like it. I take a pill when we’re going on long car rides and my tummy doesn’t get upset anymore. My foster mom thinks I have a little anxiety so I wear a belly band whenever I can’t be watched or when she leaves the house. The dog who lives here is so much fun. So I think I’d like to have a furry friend in my new family. He really helps to get my energy out! I’m even getting used to the cat who lives here. My beagle nose tends to lead me astray sometimes so I probably need a fenced yard to explore. I also like to explore countertops for food. My mom uses the word off and l’m slowly learning to stay down. I know how to sit, shake and lay down. I don’t like to be locked in a kennel at all. My mom lets me sleep with her and roam freely when she’s gone. I am very leery of new people. I will hide until I feel comfortable, getting to know someone has got to be on my terms. But once I know you I will give lots of kisses and cuddle up by you on the couch. I’ve been around older kids and I love them, I’m sure I’d do just as well with little humans. There is so much more I could tell you about myself. Why don’t we meet so I can show you what a great addition to your family I could be! Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. Adoption fee: $550.00 Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.June 17, 2024, 10:09 am

Story
From a shy breeder dog to a fun, loving, playful pup. What a change she’s made over a short period of time. Chifon loves to be near people almost as much as she loves being near other dogs. She will need to go into a home with another dog she can look up to and help her confidence and security. She is the shadow of the resident dog in her foster home but also runs zoomies alone or plays with the other dog in the home. Chifon loves her toys and carries them around. She also loves Nylabones. She is very food motivated and can’t control herself at feeding time, in a good way though. At nighttime Chifon has to always touch her human. She also does great with the cats in the house. She is still shy around new people but warms up quickly. She’s still working on leash walking but is doing really well. She does get scared when a loud car or a motorcycle drives by, but is getting better with every walk. There are no small children in her foster home. She would probably do best with older kids or kids that will give her space and let Chifon warm up and go to them on her terms. She is a good car rider, just taking in her surroundings. Chifon also does well on her potty training. Overall, she is just an amazing dog that finally gets to be a dog and she’s loving it. Adoption fee includes: Full veterinary exam, Alter, Prepaid microchip, Dewormed, dental, Rabies vaccine (if age appropriate), Distemper combo vaccine(s) appropriate to age, Bordetella vaccine, 4DX (over 6 months of age), Flea/tick and heartworm preventative while in rescue. You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee: $550 plus taxHello to my future family…you found me! My name is Statler, but foster mom calls me Sassy Pants. My momma (Astoria) had us in Oklahoma, and I made it all the way to MN with my mom and brother when we were three weeks old. Foster mom describes me as sassy, independent, and confident….and a really good eater! I am ready to go to my forever at 8 weeks of age, which is Saturday, May 18.  I love all the dogs in my foster home, but haven’t had too much interaction with them as I am still pretty small. But we give each other kisses through the pen, and I run around with them outside a few times a day. I play with my brother and mom though, and that keeps me busy. As a puppy, I am getting used to so many new things! Foster mom introduces new toys and things everyday, like things that make different noises, or things that move…everyday is an adventure. I am also getting used to new sounds, as the music piped into my area includes daily household and outdoor sounds, and this makes the world far less scary! I am teething, so teething toys are my favorite, especially the ones you freeze. Other favorites are frozen chunks of watermelon and blueberries. Are you the family for me? Maybe you have a kid or dog who needs a dog? I always have the sweetest look with my big puppy eyes and am always attentive to the human. Foster mom says that she can tell that I just want to please the humans…get the cuddles…and eat all the food! I would do great with any family, with or without kids, with or without other dogs. Fill out an app to meet me…you won’t be disappointed!  * Puppies under 5 months should not be left alone for more than 4 hours at a time to help them with potty training and socialization.   If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.  or    *The pet you are viewing is a rescued pet which is most often from an animal control facility and does not come with a pedigree. The breed(s) listed are our best guess and are in no way guaranteed. Sometimes the pets appear to be a particular breed(s) in the pictures we receive from our rescue partners and when they arrive we are surprised to see an entirely different breed(s) in person!  If you choose to DNA test your adopted pet, test results may vary from company to company and our breed guess may not be reflected in those results as it is just that, our best guess. It is with deep longing that we wish there was a breed called 'cute' as we believe all of our dogs would fall under this new breed classification! Completion of an Adoption Application via our website www.midwestanimalrescue.org is the best way to show your interest in an animal and is the first step in our adoption process.  *Animals who are not fully vaccinated and altered are not eligible for long distance adoption. When you adopt a pet from Midwest Animal Rescue and Services, your adoption fee covers: Microchip and registration, Core Vaccines including Rabies, Distemper and bordetella, age appropriate heartworm testing or FeLV-FIV testing, sterilization, heartworm/flea-tick prevention and deworming while in foster care.  Adoption fees are non-negotiable and can be paid by cashier's check, money order or credit card. We do not accept personal checks. Any issues that arise after adoption are the full responsibility of the adopter after the finalization of adoption. Adoption fees are only part of the expense of owning a pet, so we ask you to consider the costs for the life of the pet before adoption. We recommend pet insurance. //

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus taxHello to my future family…you found me! My name is Astoria, and I came to MN with my two babies from OK. I am a happy little spitfire of a momma…and my days of being tied down are nearing an end. My kids are fully weaned and I am ready to be spoiled by you. My foster mom says that I have the playfulness and curiosity of a cat, without the whole “being a cat” thing…she thinks it’s hilarious.  I get along with other dogs well, although don’t just throw me in the dog pit and run! I might be a little timid at first, but warm up quickly. There are so many dogs in my foster home! A Lab, a Pittie and a Great Pyrenees (resident dogs). There are also some puppies from another litter who are as big as me (around 25 lbs), and boy are they fun! I get along with all the dogs here but have my favorites. We haven’t done much obedience training, which is weird because my foster mom has a hobby job as a dog trainer! But we have done a lot of confidence building exercises because when I came here I was pretty shut down. We do this through agility work, scent work, learning tricks, and allowing me to be curious and adventurous! She said we will start training a few things here and there now that I’m a confident young lady! Are you the family for me? Maybe you want to take long hikes with a canine companion, or your kids want a pal to play with in the yard! I am quiet (rarely bark), potty trained, and seem to like my kennel (even though the door is never closed because I have babies here). Fill out an app to meet me…you won’t be disappointed! Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. //   Find our applications at www.midwestanimalrescue.orgAdoption Fee $400 plus taxReba was found along with her 8 pups and brought to our rescue partner’s shelter. She has been a great momma, sweet and gentle in nature. Now that the pups are weaned she has gotten to get out into playgroups and has had a blast with her new friends. Reba was introduced to several shelter cats and was way more interested in getting pets from staff.  Reba has a shorter stocky build along with her beautiful black and tan coat. We suspect she may be a beagle mix perhaps with some rottweiler. Given her sweet  personality she will be a great addition to just about any home.Foster UpdateReba has been doing really well. She gets along great with our other dogs. Leaves our cat alone and wants to greet everyone with a wagging tail and wants to lick them up. Completely house trained. Has not needed a kennel. She will make a great family pet. Gets very excited when we get home but calms pretty quickly after we greet her. Wants to be with us all the time but does fine when we put her in the house and leave her. She walks on a leash well. She is not a runner so will be easy to train to off leash. I think she will learn commands pretty quickly also. She is a smart girl.    If you have previously applied with us please email adoptionatmars@gmail.com to reactivate your application with new interest. All fees are subject to MN sales tax and a processing fee at the time of adoption.
