Story
Jackpot's story didn't start out easy, but he's proving every day that resilience, love, and a wagging tail can overcome just about anything. This handsome beagle mix was found as a stray alongside his brother after what appears to have been a rough start in life. When he arrived in rescue, he was underweight and suffering from mange. Thanks to good care, regular meals, and lots of love, Jackpot is healing beautifully. His fur is growing back, his confidence is blossoming, and he's just looking to add a few more pounds while he waits for his forever family. If you're looking for a dog that will keep you laughing, keep you active, and then curl up next to you for a nap, Jackpot might just be your winning ticket! This playful boy is full of personality. He loves tug-of-war, playing with other dogs, and collecting toys from his canine friends whenever the opportunity presents itself. Jackpot adores toys of all kinds, especially the ones he can enthusiastically de-stuff and "customize." Like any true hound, Jackpot experiences life through his nose. Walks are one of his favorite activities, and he's always ready to investigate every interesting scent along the way. Squirrels are his greatest weakness. Spotting one may result in some very dramatic beagle commentary as he expresses his disappointment that they refuse to come down and play. Despite his energetic side, Jackpot is also a champion cuddler. Personal space isn't really his thing. He loves being close to his people and can often be found stretched across the back of the couch, keeping watch over his kingdom while enjoying a well-earned nap. Jackpot gets along well with the cats in his foster home. He's curious and sometimes a little too enthusiastic when meeting feline friends, but his intentions are friendly. He also loves people of all ages and is happy to make friends with just about everyone he meets. He's a wonderful passenger in the car and rides quietly on trips. At home, he sleeps through the night and settles nicely once it's bedtime. Jackpot may let you know he'd rather not be in his kennel at first, but after a little protesting, he relaxes and settles down. Jackpot is highly food motivated, which makes training a lot of fun. He is currently working on housetraining, leash manners, and learning that good things come to dogs who have a little self-control. He's smart, eager, and making great progress every day. Jackpot would thrive in a home that enjoys walks, playtime, and continuing his training. In return, he'll provide endless entertainment, expert squirrel surveillance, loyal companionship, and all the snuggles you could ever want.
