Since then, he`s been adjusting to the overwhelming changes in his life, and doing his best to be brave. Scottie is understandably cautious around new people and environments. He may bark, retreat, or show signs of fear at first. He needs time, patience, and gentle understanding from someone who will let him move at his own pace. Once he knows he’s safe, Scottie has shown glimmers of trust and even knows a couple of cues like `sit` and `paw.` One place Scottie has started to feel more like himself is around other dogs. Being around calm, confident canine companions helps him open up and feel more secure. He would do best in a quiet, adult-only home, ideally with another friendly dog to guide him and show him the world isn’t so scary. Scottie doesn’t need much, just someone with a kind heart, and the patience to help a grieving soul find joy again.
