Story
Meet Belle, a gentle soul with unshakable strength and a heart full of love. Belle’s story began behind a Piggly Wiggly in Camden, AL, where she lived alongside her friends Lizzie and Buster. Life there was harsh—food was scarce, danger was constant, and survival was never guaranteed. At some point, Belle suffered a broken hind leg that healed crooked, leaving a visible reminder of her struggles. But Belle never let her past slow her down. She walks, runs, and plays like any other dog, and the only thing she carries from her injury is her remarkable resilience. The leg doesn’t affect her daily life, though we keep an eye on it since the skin there is thin. What truly defines Belle is not her scar, but her sweet, gentle nature and her quiet determination to love and be loved. With her soft eyes and tender heart, Belle is ready for a forever home where she’ll be cherished for the survivor she is. If you’re looking for a companion who embodies grace, courage, and unconditional love, Belle is waiting to meet you.

Story
Hi, I’m JJ — yes, the JJ — a 12-year-old Beagle mix with the energy of a pup, the wisdom of a grandpa, and the charm of a seasoned heartthrob. 💁‍♂️🐾 For most of my life, I was devoted to my person (basically their shadow, therapist, and personal trainer all in one), but sadly they passed away. Now I’m ready to audition for my next leading role: Your One and Only Best Friend. Let’s talk lifestyle. I LOVE routine. Walks? Yes please. Multiple times a day? Even better. I strut like I’m on a runway — I mean, have you seen this slimmed-down figure? Thyroid condition? Handled. Medication? Easy peasy. Fabulous? Always. I’m a people guy through and through. When I love you, I LOVE you. Think loyal bodyguard meets cuddle connoisseur. I’ve got a protective streak (comes from loving hard), so I’m looking for someone who wants a dog that’s truly theirs. Other dogs? I’ll be polite, wave hello from across the street… and keep it moving. I prefer the spotlight, thank you very much. Solo act only. 🎭 If you’re looking for a devoted companion who will adore you, keep you on your walking schedule, and make you feel like the most important person in the world… 👉 I’m JJ. And I’ve been waiting for you Please complete the application to meet me and let’s make it happen. Story
I’m looking to rehome this sweet boy. He was unexpectedly placed with me after a last-minute change, and I’m trying to find him the right forever home. He belonged to my brother-in-law, who has since passed away, and unfortunately my in-laws were unable to keep him.He is not neutered but has had vaccines in the past. I do not know if they are currently up to date. He’s about 11 years old, very affectionate, and great with my 10-year-old son. He does best with older children, as younger kids can make him an anxious but he loves kids.Fuzzy lived without other dogs for many years, so he would likely do best as the only pet in a calm home. He is very good with cats and bearded dragons! He’s a snack guy - he loves his treats! He absolutely loves to be outside in the sunshine, and he is very happy when he goes on long walks! He truly is such a loving dog, and I just want to find someone who will give him the care and stability he deserves. We do not expect him to be neutered at this point*

Story
Sweet REINA is the kind of dog that makes everyone fall in love instantly 3-4 years old just under 37 lbs. She's an easygoing, low-maintenance gal who is just happy to be included in whatever you're doing. She's living with an awesome Foster family and they say that Reina is simply happy just being by your side whether its tagging along for errands, relaxing at home, hanging out at a brewery, or just going for a walk in the neighborhood. Her photos and video show just how sweet and loving she is. She is ALWAYS excited to greet you honestly, you'll probably hear the thump thump thump of her wagging tail before you even see her. Despite not having the easiest past, Reina absolutely adores people and has so much love to give. Reina highlights: Excellent with dogs and people Would do great with kiddos with respectful dog manners Rides great in the car Total rockstar at the vet AND during baths Good in public spaces Loves being outside Walks nicely on leash Enjoys belly rubs more than just about anything Good with dog-savvy cats Likely adaptable to many different home environments House trained Does well in a crate or gated area like a kitchen Reina is missing a few teeth likely from an old injury, chewing on rocks/chains, or simply not being well cared for in the past. Whatever her story was before rescue, its clear she didn't let it harden her heart. She's incredibly trusting, affectionate, and loves everyone she meets She's also had a litter or two in the past, but those mama days are officially behind her Reina is scheduled to be spayed soon, and if she's adopted before her appointment, her spay will still be covered by the rescue post-adoption. Reina is such a special girl with the sweetest spirit, and we cant wait for her to find the family she's always deserved Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) to get lots more info on Raina! We have lots of videos of her too!

Story
Adorable BANKS is looking for his forever home! His estimated DOB 4/1/26 and he currently weighs just 8 pounds Our Vet thinks Banks will be between 30 and 40 lbs fully grown, but this is just a "best guess!" We've done a DNA test & will post the results as soon as we receive them but we're thinking he has some Beagle & small Hound in him. Banks is so beautiful and also has the most wonderful sweet personality. If you're looking for an old soul with just the right amount of puppy sprinkled in, Banks is your guy. Some puppies arrive like tiny tornadoes. Banks arrived with the energy of a retired gentleman. This sweet boy is hands-down one of the easiest puppies his Foster has ever had. He sleeps soundly through the night in his crate (and often puts himself to bed), rides beautifully in the car, and spends most of his day napping, chewing on a toy, or quietly hanging out nearby. If you work from home, Banks is the type of puppy who will snooze beside your desk instead of turning your Zoom meetings into a circus. Banks is a little on the shy side and still building confidence, but the second you pick him up, he completely melts into your arms. He has done wonderfully with other dogs and seems to understand social cues far better than most puppies his age. He'd be happy as an only dog, but another friendly pup could help continue bringing him out of his shell. He's met children and done well, though a home with older kids or kids who understand gentle interactions may be the best fit while he continues to gain confidence. He's also working on house training, knows sit and stay, and is motivated by both food and praise. Banks would do well in an apartment or a home with a yard and could be a great match for a first-time puppy owner. His ideal family will have a schedule that allows for the time, patience, and consistency every young puppy needs. Like all puppies, he's still learning and will need continued training, socialization, and guidance as he grows. If you've been dreaming of a puppy who is equal parts cuddle bug, best friend, and easygoing companion, Banks is ready to meet you! Reach out to Long Road Home Rescue (lrhrescue@gmail.com) for lots more info and photos of him.

Story
Meet Bernie 🍋🐾 This sweet lemon beagle may be around 9 years old, but don’t tell him that — he still loves being outside, exploring on walks, and enjoying life right alongside his people. Rescued from South Carolina in June 2025, this little guy is searching for the loving forever home he truly deserves. At only about 15 pounds, he’s the perfect compact companion. He loves to cuddle, nap close to his humans, and soak up all the affection he can get. He has a calm, gentle nature but still has plenty of pep left for walks, fresh air, and everyday adventures. He is good with other dogs and cats and is housebroken when kept on a consistent routine. Most of all, he still has so much life, love, and companionship left to give. Senior dogs are often overlooked, but they make some of the very best companions — and this boy is proof of that. He’s past the puppy chaos and simply wants a soft bed, loving family, and someone to spend his golden years with. Could you be the happy ending this sweet beagle has been waiting for? 💛 Please apply via www.nyshar.org/applications and once approved we can arrange a meet and greet 🥰
