Story

Meet Zed Zed arrived at the shelter with his brother Zander, who was adopted. This hound mix (maybe beagle and others) is friendly with everyone! Approximately 11 months old and about 35 pounds as of September 2024, Zed puts the “tri” in “tricolor.” He’s all puppy, ready to play. For a young dog who hasn’t had much training, he’s fairly calm on the leash. Zed likes to lie in the grass and has an endearing way of occasionally throwing himself to the ground during his walks so that he can get a good belly rub before continuing. (We're not sure why, but he's recently become fearful of the environment outside the shelter gate. We're confident that once he's acclimated to a new home and family, he'll become more adventurous again.) Zed would do well with an active family who’s ready to give him lots of puppy training. He’ll reward them with love and companionship. We think he’ll learn fast in his forever home. A fenced in yard would be ideal. Older kids, please, because Zed's play still is too rough for little ones. He's at a great age to be adopted--no more teething, but still full of puppy wiggles and fun. hi! meet nova! i got nova from a breeder when she was 3mo. old. she came from ohio, & it was a transition for her to get acclimated to city life- specifically nyc. she was a bit shy but she’s grown out of it. she’s good with dogs but doesn’t tolerate getting sniffed in other parts of her body except nose. she’ll let you know when she’s had enough-she’ll do a low growl if a dog gets too comfortable in certain areas she doesn’t like. about a year ago i moved out into a studio apartment in midtown and nova has not been able to settle down. because of this i’ve gotten noise complaints, which resulted in me leaving her with my mom. i feel like she could thrive so much better in a different environment, especially if there’s a yard involved. it’s important for me to find her a family who’s committed in caring for her, understanding her and training her. she does well with structure but could use the help, dedication & (space!!) from someone who has more time than what i’m able to provide.

You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Shortcake (GA) is a female Beagle mix estimated to be 6 years old at the time of intake in July 2024. Shortcake is up to date on vaccines and is microchipped. She will be spayed prior to joining her forever home unless there is a medical reason why it has not yet been completed (in which case RDR NYC will work with the adopter to ensure this is done at the appropriate time). Shortcake is good with people, other dogs and even cats. We don't know what Shortcake's life was like that landed her in a shelter suffering with some untreated medical issues. Fortunately, Shortcake was pulled out of the shelter so she could receive the medical care she required and when we received a request to provide that medical care to Shortcake, of course we said YES! Shortcake's medical issues have been treated and this adorable girl is ready to start her life over with her forever family. Shortcake is sweet (of course!). She is quite a chunky girl and is on a weight loss regimen. Her joints are a bit squeaky, but she's on an arthritis supplement as well. Shortcake is literally one of the easiest going dogs ever and even a little person could walk her easily! Shortcake is on a special food as she cannot have chicken. ❗Current location: in a foster home in South Korea❗ Say hi to OhGong👋 a sweet, friendly boy with a charming black muzzle! He was found on the street in South Korea at 3 months old and taken to a high-risk city shelter along with his five other siblings. Luckily, they were rescued right before euthanasia by the rescue team and started living with other dogs in the local shelter. Despite some time spent at the shelter, Ohgong was given a chance to live in his current foster home in June 2023. His current foster family has been taking good care of him since, and Ohgong has learned how to harmoniously live with people with love, and now he is ready to find his forever home😊 • Personality: Friendly, Sweet, Gentle Just like when OhGong was widely known for his super friendly personality among the shelter staff, he continued to be very loving and sweet to his foster family. He loves to kiss you and be petted by you. His energy level is medium. He is usually calm at home but becomes active when playing with toys! Plus, he is such a gentle walker. • Affinity with - Dogs: Very dog-friendly! He doesn’t even bark towards other dogs. - Cats: He tends to chase cats out of curiosity but doesn’t show aggression. - Adults/Kids: Good with people in general but a little bit shy around male adults / Okay with kids. He is rather indifferent to them. • Walking Manners: Super well-mannered! Pacing with his person without pulling the leash. He responds to “Let’s go” while sniffing around. • Housetrained: Fully housebroken, going potty outdoors as well as using pee-pads indoors • Bathing/Brushing: Tolerates both very well. • Car Rides: Very comfortable with car rides. • Separation Anxiety: None. He showed some signs of separation anxiety at the beginning of foster, but not anymore when two months of foster passed. He spends most of his time sleeping while he is left alone at home. • Barks/Howls: Almost none. Just a little bit of barking only when greeting his family at home. • Appetite/Food Allergies: No allergies. • Likes/Dislikes: OhGong LOOOVES playing with toys, especially squeaky ones! He seems to even prefer toys to treats. • Shedding level (1~10): 5-6 If you have an open heart and a loving home for Ohgong, please don't hesitate to apply!
