Meet Zander Zander arrived with his brother Zed. This hound mix (maybe beagle and others) is a bundle of energy. He’s ready to run, play, and wrestle! Approximately 9 months old and about 30 pounds as of July 2024, Zander has an unusual brindle coat with white socks and other white markings. He starts his leash walks with lots of energy but calms down about halfway through. He’ll learn quickly with consistent training. If you’re looking for an active buddy to walk, run, or hike with, Zander’s your guy! This little powerhouse needs positive training to direct his puppy energies. He’s very friendly and loves attention from humans. Zander has learned not to be so mouthy. He’d do best with adults ready to offer him regular training and teenagers who can work with him. (He may have a little too much energy for younger kids.) He’s going to make a great family companion once he becomes secure in a forever home and learns the ropes! A fenced-in yard would be great. Meet Zed Zed arrived at the shelter with his brother Zander. This hound mix (maybe beagle and others) is friendly with everyone! Approximately 9 months old and about 30 pounds and as of July 2024, Zed puts the “tri” in “tricolor.” He’s all puppy, ready to play. For a young dog who hasn’t had much training, he’s fairly calm on the leash. Zed likes to lie in the grass and has an endearing way of occasionally throwing himself to the ground during his walks so that he can get a good belly rub before continuing. (We're not sure why, but he's recently become fearful of the environment outside the shelter gate. We're confident that once he's acclimated to a new home and family, he'll become more adventurous again.) Zed would do well with an active family who’s ready to give him lots of puppy training. He’ll reward them with love and companionship. We think he’ll learn fast in his forever home. A fenced in yard would be ideal. He's at a great age to be adopted--no more teething, but still full of puppy wiggles and fun. Zed is up to date on vaccines and neutered. Sunny, as his name suggests, is a gorgeous, golden-colored, bright and beautiful 3 year old Beagle/Collie/Boxer mix who is 100% housebroken, non-destructive inside the home, and responsive to several commands, including sit, stay, down, and paw. He is much more of a peace-and-quiet kind of dude, than a chaos-and-confusion type of guy and will thrive in a home outside of the city. Unfamiliar dogs, skateboarders whizzing by, strangers in his face, can cause Sunny a little bit of anxiety, especially on leash. He can be reactive on a leash, but with a little practice and patience, he can likely be taught to settle down...but set him free in the dog park and he's totally cool with everything...and he'll even play and run with other dogs! C'mon, chase me, chase me! Sunny is extremely smart and food-motivated and is a pretty good listener, especially if he sees a treat in your hand. This active boy loves toys, going for walks, and trips to the dog park. Wanna go for a car ride with him? Sunny will always be down for that. Vroom,vroom, let's go! And what a handsome co-pilot he'll make. Once you've earned Sunny's trust, you'll have a friend for life. He enjoys pets, cuddles, and scratches behind the ear from his loyal friends and loved ones. Although Sunny likes making doggie friends on the outside, he would do best as your one and only fur-kid in an adult-only home.
