Story
Hi, I’m JJ, a sweet and spry 10-year-old Beagle mix with a heart full of love to give. For most of my life, I was a devoted companion to one person, but sadly, they passed away. Now, I’m looking for my next special someone to love and protect. I thrive on routine and enjoy several walks a day – they're the highlight of my day! I’ve been diagnosed with a thyroid condition, but it’s well-managed with medication (easy peasy to take!), and I’m feeling great. Everyone says I’ve slimmed down nicely, and I must admit, I love showing off my svelte figure during my strolls! I’m a people-focused pup and bond deeply with my person. My protective instincts came from living with my last owner, who I loved dearly, and I’m ready to share that same loyalty with someone new. While I’m polite around other dogs during walks, I prefer to keep my distance and would do best as your one-and-only furry friend. If you’re looking for a faithful companion who will adore you unconditionally, I’m your guy! Complete an application to meet me – I can’t wait to start our new adventure together. 🐾 Please complete the application to meet me and let’s make it happen. Neutered with all updated shots Please fill out the application on this link https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/POSH/Dog

Story
Meet Belle, a gentle soul with unshakable strength and a heart full of love. Belle’s story began behind a Piggly Wiggly in Camden, AL, where she lived alongside her friends Lizzie and Buster. Life there was harsh—food was scarce, danger was constant, and survival was never guaranteed. At some point, Belle suffered a broken hind leg that healed crooked, leaving a visible reminder of her struggles. But Belle never let her past slow her down. She walks, runs, and plays like any other dog, and the only thing she carries from her injury is her remarkable resilience. The leg doesn’t affect her daily life, though we keep an eye on it since the skin there is thin. What truly defines Belle is not her scar, but her sweet, gentle nature and her quiet determination to love and be loved. With her soft eyes and tender heart, Belle is ready for a forever home where she’ll be cherished for the survivor she is. If you’re looking for a companion who embodies grace, courage, and unconditional love, Belle is waiting to meet you.

Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website.Meet Maw Maw: A Senior Beagle with a Heart Full of Love Maw Maw (AL) is a 10ish-year-old Beagle who was picked up as a stray and traced back to a breeder—who sadly refused to claim her. But Maw Maw didn’t let that rejection define her. She wandered onto the property of a kind family, where the children instantly fell in love and gave her the name that suits her perfectly: Maw Maw. Despite her age, Maw Maw still has plenty of pep in her step. She adores strolling through the yard, nose to the ground, tracking every scent like the curious little hound she is. She walks beautifully on a leash and is fully house-trained, always waiting to potty outside. Maw Maw is a gentle soul who’s wonderful with kids and other dogs. She’s patient, polite, and calm—an easy companion who fits right into any loving home. She already knows how to “Sit” and takes treats with the softest touch. Though she’s currently very thin, just skin and bones, her spirit is strong and her heart is open. Now, Maw Maw is waiting for someone to see her for who she truly is: a sweet, spunky senior with so much love left to give. Please apply to adopt Maw Maw (AL) at www.rescuedogsrocknyc.org. Please also be sure to reference this pet's name as Maw Maw (AL) in case of duplicate names within the rescue. Thank you!All pets are also current on age-appropriate core vaccines at the time of adoption. Given technical constraints on this database, this pet's location may not be as listed here. Story
Calypso - 12 weeks & 17lbs (as of 1/10/26), Beagle/Aussie Mix, Neutered Estimated full grown size about 50lbs  Level of dog ownership experience needed:INTERMEDIATE: As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. The adopter must have relevant primary care experience with a similar breed, temperament, and/or energy level. (Primary care experience includes ownership, fostering, or dog sitting as an adult, not a dog you grew up with.) Relevant puppy care experience is a huge plus, but bare minimum the adopter must have TONS of time and patience. Raising a puppy can be a lot of fun, but it’s also  tremendous work. Puppies’ personalities and exercise/stimulation requirements change dramatically between now and when they’re a year old as their bodies and brains develop, so an active lifestyle and the ability to adapt to a pup’s evolving needs are a must. We strongly urge professional dog training with a rewards based trainer from the get go. Adults only or kids ages 8 and up – all puppies go through a mouthy, rambunctious phase and often accidentally hurt children when playing. PLEASE DO YOUR OWN BREED RESEARCH to make sure you have a better understanding of the kind of temperament and exercise requirements this dog may have as an adult. EXPERT: As an adult, this dog will need loads of structure and daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 2+ consecutive hours of quick paced movement plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day. Energy levelMEDIUM: Very young puppies sleep and nap a lot, but their energy level skyrockets when they become teens (4 months to around a year). As an adult, this dog will need significant structure and plenty of daily exercise, training, and mental stimulation – 90 consecutive minutes of movement in the morning plus potty break walks and brain games throughout the day at a minimum. (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  EXPERT: Very young puppies sleep and nap a lot, but their energy level skyrockets when they become teens (4 months to around a year). (This is regardless of dog size – many small breeds were designed for lots of activity and will exhibit unwanted behavior when they’re understimulated.)  POTTY TRAINED?Working on this skill. Puppies under 12 weeks old are often on track with their wee pad skills, but they’re too young to walk outside in public NYC areas yet because they haven’t finished their puppy vaccine series. Puppies older than 12 weeks are usually learning to do their business outside. Potty training takes a lot of patience, consistency, and clean up.  SOCIAL WITH DOGS?Yes. Some puppies are shy, others are bold, but all have the potential to be taught healthy socializing skills. It’s a huge part of raising a puppy and must be done carefully. How they interact with other dogs depends largely on how their humans help them learn to.  SOCIAL WITH CHILDREN?  (ALWAYS requires adult supervision)Yes… but most puppies are not a great match for a home with kids under age 8 because they go through intense mouthy play and rambunctious phases and often accidentally hurt young kids while playing. Children must always be monitored and taught to interact with dogs of any age respectfully.   SOCIAL WITH CATS?Yes. Almost all puppies have the potential to be friends with a cat. It’s on the adopter to know their cat’s temperament and preferences and to teach their puppy respectful manners.  MOUTHY PLAY: High! All puppies go through phases where they chew your stuff and grab your hands, arms, feet… puppies naturally explore the world, play, and test boundaries with their mouths. (It also happens when they’re teething.) Their teeth are super sharp though, so it can be a very painful phase for humans and other animals in the home. Proper training, outlets, and socialization are key. SEPARATION ANXIETYMEDIUM: Most puppies have some level of separation anxiety as they learn to self soothe. Often they cry the first 10+ minutes when they are left home alone or in a crate. Consistent training and alone time is crucial. LEASH MANNERS:None. :) Will need to learn this skill.   CRATE TRAINED:Nope. None of our new puppies have been formally trained, but many of our foster parents/adopters choose to crate train. It can be a great way to keep puppies safe and teach them independence. MEDICAL STATUS:Healthy as far as we know. Up to date on their DHPP and Bordetella vaccines (for dogs under 4 months old, adopters will need to finish the DHPP vaccine series and administer the Rabies vaccine at 16 weeks of age), spayed/neutered; microchipped; treated with dewormer upon HOW DID THIS DOG END UP WITH US?Most of our dogs come via partner groups who help us save them from shelters where they are at risk of euthanasia in Tennessee, Los Angeles and Puerto Rico. There are very few spay/neuter resources there and many more animals in those areas than there are people to adopt them. Rescue groups like ours bring them to the northeast where the desire for pets like these allows us to save their lives.  PLEASE NOTE: We cannot guarantee any breed mix, exact age, or full grown size (if the dog is under a year old). We do our best with very educated guesses though!  This animal is not at the Social Tees office, all are in foster homes.
