He came to us around 9 months old, and has been waiting for a foster or forever home with us for 4 years. He would love to find his forever family ❤️ Junnie is a happy and sweet boy who loves to play and be active! He will require an active family that has experience with working breeds. He would make a great outdoors (hiking/camping/running etc) partner. He loves to play with toys and loves fetch! Junnie has been working on his dog socialization skills during his time with us and has made massive strides in what used to be overexcited puppy mouthiness, pretty typical for a young Malinois mix! He has done great with other dogs in our care on walks, and during meets, and group socializing. Animal Information: Ranger is an estimated 6.5 year-old male German Shepherd mix currently weighing approximately 60bs. It appears that Ranger had been in the shelter in 2019 and then returned recently. Foster Profile: Ranger is a gentle boy who is settling in well. I gave him a bath the day he arrived and he seemed to love it, didn’t fight me at all, and even laid his head on my leg at one point! He is friendly with dogs and people and seems to love attention. It took a few days of walks together, but he has started playing with my resident dog which is great to see! He is generally calm inside, though he does enjoy playing with toys, and now that the two dogs are playing there has been a little friendly wrestling inside as well. Ranger walks well on leash and hasn’t shown any reactivity to people or other dogs on our walks. He doesn’t seem to need a ton of exercise and is doing well with a walk or two a day. Ranger is house trained and we are working on crate training. Although he does prefer to be with his people, he will sleep through the night in his crate, and is making progress on settling when alone. Overall, Ranger is a calm, gentle boy who will make a great addition to a lucky PNW family. Animal Information: Niley is a 1-year-old female Shepsky mix with striking eyes and a beautiful coat. She’s friendly with both people and other dogs, but found herself at risk for euthanasia due to her extended stay at the shelter and the kennel stress that came with it. That environment can be especially tough on dogs like Niley, so once we had a committed foster in place, we were able to step in and save her life. Foster Profile: Niley is still a bit shy but very sweet and friendly! She’s a gentle dog who is interested in playing with other dogs, but nothing too rough and tumble. Niley is a bit more human motivated than a typical Husky and comes and leans in for pats . She has the typical energy level of a young Husky, but is able to calm down better than expected. Niley sometimes makes noises or yips when she is put back in the crate or if there is a lot of action she doesn't get to participate in, but she calms after a few minutes. With structure I think she'll get the rest of crate training pretty fast. She sleeps through the night in her crate without issue. She is still a little confused by the leash but she kinda goes with the flow and will start walking with you or following leash pressure. I think Niley will really benefit from ongoing structure and consistent training; breed experience is a plus! More to come as this sweet girl settles in. Medical Note: Shortly after her arrival to Seattle, Niley developed some difficulty walking and balance issues. She has been evaluated by our vet without definitive diagnosis, however, has improved on oral medication. We believe she will need ongoing medication and will benefit from adopters comfortable managing these issues. Animal Profile: Leo is an estimated 5-year-old male slight-structured Shepherd mix who was adopted as a young puppy after we accepted him from California where he was found as a stray in a Chino dumping zone along with his sibling Sansa and mom Catelyn. He joined us in Seattle on 10/10, along with Sansa and Catelyn. Leo was returned to the rescue after a couple of years due to a divorce in the family, lacking socialization and training. He was fostered with a trainer for several weeks and is now thriving and ready for a loving forever home. Seattle Foster Update: Leo has progressed well in his time with us as a foster. When Leo arrived to us from training he was moderately reactive, but quickly blossomed to a friendly, tail wagging, bouncy boy. Leo is in a word eccentric. He is a cuddle bug and a hermit and assumes the oddest positions imaginable to get close to his owners. He is crate trained perfectly and enjoys the safe environment the crate provides for him. If you’re unwilling to give Leo a crate then you’re not the right home for him. He needs his escape and downtime to be the best boy. Leo warms up slowly to new people and dogs, and his new owners should be selective in dog introductions as he will react if confronted and doesn’t like in your face dog encounters. He plays well with male Collie and male Malinois and he has a firm truce with our selective female Bulldog. He lives with our cats and is completely disinterested in them. So, cat friendly. Leo will never be a dog park dog. So no dog parks. We don’t have kids in the household so don’t have awareness there. He has no food aggression but he's still working on taking treats gently. Leo will be a great hiking buddy and walks beautifully on leash. He doesn’t have marked stranger danger but again the policy will likely be "please don’t pet my dog without proper introductions."
