Story
Lady is a 3 month old, 14 lb Black Mouth Cur mix. She will probably weigh about 55-60 lbs when full grown. Many people have not heard of this breed, so here are some of their traits. They are friendly, lively, loyal, active, playful, and bright. This pretty little Lady is all of these and more. She gets along great with the other dogs in her foster home. She is great with kids, but we are recommending no kids under the age of 6. Lady loves to play with toys and investigate the backyard, cuddle and take long naps. If you would like to meet Lady, please submit your application, and an adoption counselor will contact you.

Story
Meet Rumble! He is a super-intelligent, playful, and healthy young adult dog who is looking for his forever family. This handsome Black Mouth Cur mix is two years old, neutered, and house-trained. He has a beautiful brindle coat and kind brown eyes that will melt your heart. Don't worry about the name - Rumble does not growl or like to fight. When his current pet parents adopted him, the pound said his name was "Rubble." Well, rubble means trash, and he is not trash, so his name was changed. His parents choose a name that sounded similar so as not to confuse him. Rumble is a very active pup and loves to go for long walks. He likes to go for at least 2 miles a day, and he will keep up with you every step of the way. He knows how to "heel" and is reasonably good on a leash, but needs a prong collar so as not to pull. He has "auto-sit" down pat - he will sit when you stop walking, stay sitting as long as you are standing still, and start up again when you start. He will jog when you jog. He would probably love to run alongside a bicycle but hasn't tried that yet. He also knows the command "free" and knows that only when he hears that command is he free to lose the "heel", go up in the grass, sniff a bit, and potty. Rumble gets along well with other dogs and loves to play, play, and play with them. He is not good with cats, as he wants to chase them. Rumble is great with people of all ages, and he loves children! In fact, a characteristic of the breed is that they are very good with children. Here is part of what the Continental Kennel Club says about Black Mouth Curs: The Black Mouth Cur is still primarily utilized as a working dog to this day. They are bred to be exceptional hunters . . . consequently, they tend to be highly driven . . . which can become problematic if matched to families that do not allow the breed to exercise its natural instincts, drives, and energy. Black Mouth Curs are loyal, even-tempered, and predictable when properly matched to suitable homes. They are known to bond strongly with their families, becoming especially fond of “their” children. A regular “job” is a must for this breed, or else behavioral problems could arise. Black Mouth Curs are finding a new following in dog sports such as agility, search-and-rescue, and obedience. Their eagerness to please their families and their high intelligence make them great candidates for these activities. That description fits Rumble well. He is very food-driven and will do anything for a treat. His love for treats makes him a quick learner, and he can master tricks and commands in no time with positive reinforcement. In fact, we think he would be excellent in agility training. His current family began getting him to jump through hoops and it was quite easy for him, but due to work and time issues, they have not kept up with it. They are in their sixties and no longer have kids at home, and have realized that Rumble needs people with far more energy than they have in order to provide what he needs. His family wants nothing more than to find him a wonderful home where he'll be cherished and allowed to blossom. Rumble is currently located in Lufkin, Texas, but he is willing to travel for love. He would be happiest with a big, active family who can keep up with his energy level, or with a young adult who loves to walk or jog every day. He would not be happy with a family where all members leave the house all day and then are too busy in the evenings with other activities to play with him or walk him. If he does not get the exercise or attention he needs, he may dig holes in your yard or even try to dig out. This playful and affectionate dog is a prime example of his breed's loyalty and high energy levels. He will bring lots of joy and happiness to your life, and he deserves a forever home with a family who will love him unconditionally. Adopt Rumble today, and you will gain a loyal companion for life!

DAISY and POPPY ARE SIBLINGS. All abandoned in the country. There were originally three and one was adopted on her own. We have had these precious girls many months now, with plenty of opportunities to watch their interactions and play style. While, in general, we do NOT recommend adopting siblings, these two have proven to be the exception to the rule. They LOVE each other and have never, ever had a raised lip, a side-eyed look, a growl or anything else. We would really love for them to be adopted together. HOWEVER, WE WILL CONSIDER ADOPTING THEM SEPARATEY. All the girls are very smart, but Poppy is also the LOVE BUG! She is either kissing you, wagging, or falling down for you to rub her tummy. If Poppy were in high school she would be a cheerleader and probably Queen of the Prom. Her personality is a wonderful match to Daisy's low key independence. For more information on adopting Poppy, please email Gail at can.adoptions@yahoo.com.

If the sisters were in high school, Daisy would be on the debate team and in honors classes. For more information on adopting Daisy, please email Gail at can.adoptions@yahoo.com.

Nathan is a total love bug! He is shy at first but bonds quickly.  He loves his people.  He loves to snuggle and be close to his human. Nathan is dog and kid friendly.  He has not been around cats, but given his demanor, it is likely that with proper introductions, he would do just fine with them as well! Nathan is more of a cuddler than anything.  He enjoys finding the smallest dog bed in the house to nap on, then stretch across the floor or next to his human on bed at night.   This sweet boy is more than ready for a family of his own!  He is fully vaccinated, neutered, current on prevention and microchipped.  He is house trained. ##1200161##

Story
I want to take a minute to brag on mama Dottie... she has to be one of the BEST dogs ever! She is so so chill, gentle and just loves to lounge and get loved on. She is a little shy but does fantastic with other dogs and LOVES puppies. She is coming out of her shell completely and just loving being a puppy herself. She loves toys... especially with squeakers and will carry them around for days. She has never been the least bit aggressive with anyone or anything! She is smart as a whip and is just an absolute sweetheart...she is heatworm positive so she will need to be treated for that once she goes through a couple of surgeries but what a love this girl is!! Anyone who adopts her will be winning the doggy lottery!! This beautiful girl was overbred; despite that she is the most chill, loving, sweet girl. She loves teenagers, loves her foster mom and dad and is amazing with her foster fur siblings. She is a perfect gal and was an amazing mother to her litter of 9 puppies. Our wonderfully sweet Dottie Peaches was found as a stray and seemed to quickly be gaining weight, we all knew what that meant for this sweet girl. She was brought home by a shelter staffer and was the perfect house guest. Friendly, sweet, gets along with other dogs. Now she gets to have her last litter in the comfort and safety of a loving home. All Dallas Dog adoptable pets are spayed or neutered, microchipped, and up to date on vaccines upon finalizing adoption. You can complete an application or view all the adoptable pets on our website at www.dallasdog.org/adopt. Upon receiving your application, please allow us 2-3 business days to review and process.

She loves giving kisses and cuddles. Her two favorite games are tug of war with her rope bone or playing in the backyard with her foster family’s dog. She is wonderful with kids, as she is a good mix of playfulness and calm. She sleeps great at night! She is very smart and has picked up on certain daily routines very well. Chewie loves companionship and being close to others, so would fit in perfectly at a house with another dog or with an owner who wants an affectionate puppy. Story
Meet Stella, a sweet 9-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. Her graying face and soulful eyes will melt your heart. Her life took a sad turn when she lost her beloved owners, leaving her in need of a loving family to provide her with the care and companionship she deserves. Stella's warm and gentle demeanor is impossible to resist. She possesses a heart of gold and has a deep appreciation for the little things in life. Her favorite pastime is simply watching the animals in the back yard, as this brings her great joy and contentment. Whether it's squirrels scampering around or birds singing in the trees, Stella finds solace in observing the wonders of nature. Stella gets along with the other dogs in her foster home, but does appreciate the calm and peace that comes with the senior lifestyle of couch time and plenty of treats. She may be hesitant around new faces initially, once she feels secure, she blossoms and showers her family with unwavering loyalty and devotion. If you're searching for a faithful companion who will always appreciate quiet moments and offer a constant source of warmth and affection, Stella is the perfect match. Open your heart and provide Stella with the secure and loving home she deserves, and you'll be rewarded with a lifetime of devotion and joy.

Story
Forrest is a four month Rhodesian Ridgeback/Black Mouth Cur mix, maybe with a bit of Boxer mixed in. Breed mix is just our best guess, but we are positive that he is 100% adorable lover boy! He's going to be a big doggie when full grown, probably in the 70 lb range. To say this puppy LOVES people and other dogs is an understatement! He does not love to be alone and would prefer to be around his people as much as possible. If you like personal space, then he may not be a good fit, as he is extremely affectionate. Forrest is a playful yet chill puppy who will entertain himself with enough chew toys. He plays great with other dogs and holds his own with the big dogs, though he is more of a follower that will listen/submit to them. Even if they don't love to play, he will make them cuddle with him. Forrest is potty trained! He will sit by the back door to signal he has to go outside, and will go every time you let him outside. He also sleeps through the night. He is motivated to please his people and loves food, so he catches on to training quickly... especially if he has other dogs to learn from. He learned to "sit" and walk on a leash by watching his foster siblings. If you are looking for a cuddly companion for you or your dog, who will literally never leave your side, then Forrest may be the pup for you! Please submit your application, and an adoption counselor will contact you.
