Story
Oh my gosh, are you here to read more about little ol’ me? Oh, where do I start! Well, I’m just a happy doggo trying to live my best life and match up with a new family. DAS is helping me search, isn’t that cool? We’re still getting to know each other, but I think we’re going to find me some great friends. I’ve let them know that I enjoy long walks on warm evenings, trying all kinds of new snacks, and chewing on doggie toys. Who doesn’t love those things? Speaking of snacks, I’ve heard that Dallas is an exciting doggie-friendly place for food enthusiasts! I’d love to check out a few patios some day with my new family. Does that sound like something you’d enjoy, too? I sure hope so… maybe you could click that “Adopt Me” button and we’ll get to know each other better!

Story
Meet Nala, a charming 4-year-old lady with a gentle soul. Her dainty and gentle playgroup style reflects her calm demeanor. She`s a larger girl, with a heart as big as her playful spirit. From our observations, Nala seems to be tolerant of other dogs, allowing their greetings with grace and patience.

Story
Finn IV is a loving and friendly dog! I got him at an animal shelter when he was a puppy. He is a good dog but has outgrown my one bedroom apartment. He has a cute underbite that everyone comments on. He likes feet, and will â&#194&#128&#194&#156singâ&#194&#128&#194&#157 to you while he plays. Actually, he sounds more like a cow. Finn is a good guard dog and will bark if someone is too close to the apartment. But he is not a â&#194&#128&#194&#156barkerâ&#194&#128&#194&#157 who continuously barks all day. He can be left alone for several hours and will just sleep.

He is good with kids and other dogs. He's also up to date medically.

He loves to be outdoors to investigate. He is a hound dog so will sniff every blade of grass if you let him. It breaks my heart to have to re-home Finn, but he is just not living a quality life with me in my small apartment and because of my medical issues that keep me from taking him for long walks. You will not regret opening your heart to him!

Story
Hi! I am Cocoa! CFR rescued me from the unbearable Texas summer when me and my littermates were found living outside. Since then, I have been able to flourish in a safe foster home and am seeking my forever family.  My foster moms say I am super smart and have been quick to learn, including potty training. I use a doggy door now but if that's not open, I know where to scratch on the backdoor to go out; I am quick to learn new routines. I have a sweet temperament and am eager to please - I am still an active puppy, but definitely understand correction. I am fully crate trained, sleeping there at night and even choosing to rest in my crate during the day but I love getting to snuggle in the morning on the big bed with my new foster Mom and the big dogs. My moms say I have a calm disposition - whatever that means, I just roll with it.  I LOVE to play and run, so I really need a secure yard to run in. I would do best with older kids. Because I am a shy girl, younger kids might make me nervous. I get along with other dogs, including the two 80# foster sisters. I have not been cat tested, but the rescue can do this before a trial just in case. I am currently about 59 pounds and will likely stay medium sized once I am all grown up. I am fully vetted and ready for a new adventure. I love to run and have long legs so I can run fast. Need a running partner, I would love to go with you on your daily/weekly runs.  I had a rough start to life, so I am shy at first. Once I know I am safe, I come out of my shell and really like to show love and appreciation. Do I sound like the missing piece of your family? Apply for a trial to meet me today! ##1775632##

Hello, folks! I`m Goofy, the life of the party at this shelter! My energy is contagious, and my antics? Well, they`ve named me Goofy for a reason! Once, I mistook a squirrel for a tennis ball and chased it up a tree. Imagine my surprise when the `ball` started chattering at me! Ha! I`m not sure about other dogs, sometimes barriers make me a bit anxious. But I`m working on it, promise! I`m not just a ball of energy, I`m a ball of love too! Adopt me, and I promise to fill your life with laughter and endless tail wags!

DAISY and POPPY ARE SIBLINGS. All abandoned in the country. There were originally three and one was adopted on her own. We have had these precious girls many months now, with plenty of opportunities to watch their interactions and play style. While, in general, we do NOT recommend adopting siblings, these two have proven to be the exception to the rule. They LOVE each other and have never, ever had a raised lip, a side-eyed look, a growl or anything else. We would really love for them to be adopted together. HOWEVER, WE WILL CONSIDER ADOPTING THEM SEPARATEY. All the girls are very smart, but Poppy is also the LOVE BUG! She is either kissing you, wagging, or falling down for you to rub her tummy. If Poppy were in high school she would be a cheerleader and probably Queen of the Prom. Her personality is a wonderful match to Daisy's low key independence. For more information on adopting Poppy, please email Gail at can.adoptions@yahoo.com.

Story
Meet Evan! He is a 8 mo old male Shepherd/Black Mouth Cur that weighs 36lbs. He came into the Mesquite Animal Shelter as a stray on 11/28. This adorable boy has such a happy go lucky personality. Everyone he meets he greets with a big tail wag, twinkle in his eyes, and if you are sitting down, you get a hug and kisses from him. That is his favorite thing to do is being close and enjoy spending time with his human companion. He is still a puppy so he does jump on occasion but listens very well when redirected. He walks well on a leash and takes treats gently. Even tho other dogs are barking as we walk through the shelter, he keeps his head held high, with a big smile on his face, happy to go for a walk. He would make such a wonderful family companion. If you are considering him to be part of your family please be sure to ask the shelter for a dog test. He enjoys running through the shelter yard chasing balls and would love to have his own secured backyard he can play in. Most importantly he needs to live indoors where he can share his affection for his loved one, and having his own fluffy dog bed to snooze on would be a dream come true. Come meet Evan!

Story
Meet Owen, Owen is a Black Mouth Cur with a bit of Carolina dog in the mix. He weighs 55 pounds, is approximately one year old and is neutered. This is one happy-go-lucky pup, fun-loving, and with a delightful personality. During our photo shoot, he ran and played in the yard, played with squeaky toys, and had the time of his life! He was so happy to be out of his kennel and romping about. When he wasn't running or playing with toys, he was doing some serious investigative work with his nose to the ground and covering pretty much every square inch of the yard. Oh, and he walks nicely on a leash. He is perhaps house trained as he did his business in the yard. When he wasn't running, playing, or investigating, he was happy to hang out with me and appreciated the loving touch he received. This fellow would seem best suited for a home with active people who would give him the time and energy he needs to fit in well with his people. Daily playtime, exercise and enrichment would be important for Owen. Manners training would also be beneficial.

Story
Re-introducing Morty! Morty was pulled from the EU list in FTW south campus shelter the morning he was scheduled to be euthanized due to space. He is currently our foster who has been waiting the longest for his furever home. He is a big puppy at 75 pounds and is about 2 years old. Morty is confirmed to be a Rhodesian Ridgeback and German Shepherd mix. Morty wants to just melt into your arms as he just loves to be hugged. He Loves car rides and exploring. Morty loves to play with other medium to large dogs. Would do great with a big sister or brother. He is a velcro dog that sticks close to his people. He has learned a lot from his foster family. He is kennel trained and food trained, he only eats from his bowl. He knows a few commands like sit, wait, drop it and he walks well on a leash. Morty would do better in a home without cats. He is a good boy. Beautiful red vibrant coat. Shepherd mix with bright eyes. Watching him chase butterflies, dragonflies, and any other bug is a real treat. Morty LOVES to play in water! He Blows bubbles in his water bowl! He is Very excited about play time. Would do better with an active owner since he is high energy. Loves to play ball and Frisbee toss! Still working on the retrieval part, though. Morty is a couch crasher, too. Loves to sit and watch anime, YouTube dog streaming, or Disney channels. He is motivated with treats and food. Morty will give you his undivided attention if he sees you have snacks! One hug from Morty, and you're in love with this snuggle buddy. To meet Morty, please fill out an application! Story
Meet Callie! Callie is a four year old Rhodesian Ridgeback mix. She is super loyal and loving to her people. She loves to hang out inside with her people, but enjoys rolling around in the yard and sunning herself on a pretty day. When her mommy and daddy had a baby, she was a little stressed out by all the chaos and they knew she would be happier in a home where she did not have babies crying or toddlers invading her space, so she is looking for her forever home. She is currently staying with her grandparents while waiting for a forever family. She is up to date with vaccines, spayed, and has an appointment to be microchipped soon. She weighs 100 lbs and is working on taking off some of that weight with daily exercise and weight management food. She would love to accompany you on your own wellness journey if you too are looking for daily exercise!

Callie LOVES her adult people. She will sit at your feet and hang out with you for hours. When she gets spurts of energy, she invites you to play and will go get toys and sticks you throw for her. She is not a big fan of giving them back to you, but loves the chase. She thrives when she gets her daily walk and would be your best friend if you took her on a neighborhood walk each day. She is super friendly to people and pets out in the neighborhood, but needs to make your acquaintance before you come into her space. Her first family had babies and dogs, and she prefers life as the diva, free of children or other pets in the house.

Callie is potty trained, and sleeps in her crate. She is the best at walking on a leash and aced her obedience training. She is super smart and learns quickly. She is the type of pup who will take some time to warm up to you, but will be very loyal to her new family. She will thrive in an adult only household where she can be queen!

Callie is so smart and loyal. Apply to adopt Callie today!
