Story
My husband brought Casper home at 2 months old, planning to train him. But when Casper was 5 months, my husband passed away. I fell into depression and could not give Casper structure. Later I worked long hours to support my daughter. Casper grew up without stability. He developed food guarding and growled over his bowl. I fed him separately, but one day he bit me seriously. He is now 1 year and 4 months old – still young and teachable. He is not vicious, just anxious and mistrustful around food. Outside mealtimes, he shows no aggression. I am away all day working. Keeping him home alone confined indoors like in a cage only makes his anxiety worse and risks worsening his behavior. He needs someone with time, patience, and experience – not a dog who spends hours locked inside. Vets have suggested euthanasia, but I refuse. I know there is someone out there – a trainer, a foster, or a calm adult – who can help him. He needs a quiet home with no young kids. He deserves a real chance.

Story
Honestly we wish we could keep this pup forever. That was our original plan. However military orders have taken us out of country and our fur guy needs a new home. He is such a good dog really. He is very smart and loves his family. He lives for free running. Take him to the dog beach or the dog park and he will go for hours. But he also loves to lounge and chill out. When on leash he can get excited getting close to other dogs. He doesn't want to fight but rather wants to play. He will let you know if something is outside or out of the norm. Not by barking but he is very attentive and aware. A great watchdog.

Story
A great companion! Hi, friends! My name is Alonso, and I’ve come all the way from Tijuana to find my furever home!   I’m a 7 year old old Border Collie mix male, who weighs 45 pounds.  I’m potty-trained, house-trained, and leash-trained, and I’ve already been neutered, too.  As far as my health goes, I’m on Royal Canin Vet Diet Adult Gastrointentinal Low Fat Dry dog to help manage my kidney issues.  I also have limited vision in my right eye and am blind in my left eye, so I am currently on Prednisone acetate, which costs ~$20 a bottle, depending on the market value and where it is purchased and Optixcare Plus lubricant,  (~$15 a tube, depending on the market value and where it is purchased). I also take Telmisartan to manage my high blood pressure (~$15.00 for 3 month supply, depending on market value and where purchased).   I’m the sweetest boy! I love my humans and to be spoiled by them.  My favorite activities include cuddling on the couch, sun-bathing in the yard, napping during the day, getting belly rubs, and going for car rides and walks in the neighborhood.  I’m generally a pretty mellow type of guy, but I do get zoomies in the backyard, and I like to play fetch, too.  Although I love having company, I also do fine on my own with very little signs of separation anxiety. I’d prefer to be the only animal in the home since I don’t do well around other doggies or kitties.  Older kids (eight and older), though, would be a great fit for me. Basically, as long as I have plenty of time around my people, I will thrive be my best self! "The Animal Pad recognizes that taking in a new dog can pose a challenge to the entire family. Alonso’s adoption package includes a FREE four-week scholarship with our partner Goodpup (https://goodpup.com/). Goodpup offers virtual, individualized training to ensure you, your dog, and your family have the skills needed to thrive together. GoodPup Scholarships include: 4+ weeks of positive reinforcement training 24/7 chat for questions and support Access to a behavior team to assist in advanced cases" Do I sound like two paws up to you? If so, my adoption fee is $250 and that includes spaying/neutering, shots, and microchip.  If you want to take me home, please fill out the form on the website here: https://theanimalpad.org/adoption-application/.   ##1495460##

Story
Personality: Very working dog like. He gets high anxiety in new situations and thrives with work and training. Education: Good with bathroom and working on leash training. He does best when physical and mental enrichment is completed. Favorite Activities: Playing with the other little dog in the house, getting affection; he likes to have his paw shaken and just be pet. Looking For: An active family that has experience with a smart, workaholic dog and can manage his needs with enrichment and exercise. No cats, and older kids are better. Special Needs/Concerns: Needs anxiety management and enjoys training. Dog selective BIO: Meet Billy—the perfect blend of independent lounger and loyal companion! Billy is a wonderful, low-maintenance guy who loves being part of the household without constantly demanding your attention. If you’re looking for a dog who is content to do his own thing but will gladly shower you with affection once he knows you, Billy might just be your perfect match. Here is everything you need to know about this handsome boy. The Daily Routine: * The Ultimate Sunbather: Billy's absolute favorite hobby is lounging by the pool. He will happily spend hours soaking up the sun and catching some rays. * Low-Key Couch Potato: He needs a good walk in the morning and another after dinner. Once those are checked off, he is perfectly content to curl up on the couch or the floor and relax while you watch TV. * Independent Yet Loyal: Billy loves to be in the same room as his humans, but he is definitely not needy. He has no problem staying by himself and handles solo time like a champ.   Social Style & Adaptability: * Meeting New Friends: Billy needs a slow introduction to new people, but there's a simple trick to winning him over: just ignore him! If you let him come to you on his own terms, he adapts incredibly fast. * The Ultimate Reward: Once you’ve crossed the finish line and become his friend, you’re in for life. He will greet you with a wagging tail and a face full of loving licks! * Dog Interactions: Billy previously lived with two other dogs and got along great with them, but he can be selective about his playmates. Because of this, he would do best in a home with no other dogs, or with a small dog companion. Walkies & Training (Where he needs your help!): Billy is a great walker, but he does experience some leash reactivity. His current foster has been working diligently with him, and he is making fantastic progress using positive reinforcement (treats!). His forever owner will need to be committed to continuing this training. Billy’s ideal human is someone who understands his needs on a walk, which include: * Being proactive and crossing to the other side of the street when another walker approaches. * Being strong and alert enough to hold him back if a larger dog approaches or reacts to him. Ready to meet Billy? If you are looking for an independent, sun-loving companion and are willing to guide him through his leash walks, Billy will reward you with endless loyalty and affection. Apply to adopt Billy today!

Meet Butterball! Butterball is a 6-year-old Husky/Border Collie mix who’s as sweet as his name. This handsome 60-lb boy is neutered, affectionate, and loves attention. He’s great with kids and gets along well with other dogs, making him the perfect companion for a family or anyone who loves an affectionate, loyal friend. He’s gentle, loving, and ready to bring so much joy to his new home. Story
Meet Banjo! Banjo is a 6-year-old Husky/Border Collie mix with striking looks and a big personality. Weighing around 60 lbs and neutered, Banjo loves human attention and thrives on affection. He’s smart, loyal, and has that wonderful mix of Husky confidence and Collie heart. Banjo would do best in a home without small dogs or young kids, but he’s more than ready to be someone’s devoted adventure buddy. He’d love a secure yard, daily walks, and lots of love from his person. Banjo’s brother, Butterball, is also available for adoption — they adore each other but can be adopted separately.
