Story
Shadow is a high drive working breed border collie who needs someone with breed experience (preferred). Fulfillment requirements: She will need more than just an hour long walk a day to meet her physical requirements. She currently bikes, hikes, and loves to swim. She is also well versed in carrying a weighted pack on her hikes, which helps her tune into her body and slow her mind. Shes an athletic girl and needs someone to match that lifestyle. Socialbility (Dog preferences): Shadow is dog selective. She would be perfectly fine in a home with no other dogs but would also do ok if she found a home with the right dog for her. No little dogs or other small animals tho. She doesn't enjoy every dog but enjoys most in the proper introductions are taken. She doesn't enjoy chaos with other dogs but loves to partake in structured pack activities. She is NOT a dog park or high-energy daycare type dog. Training: Shes crate trained and sleeps, eats and rests in one daily. Shes highly intelligent and learns quickly. She is well versed in basic obedience cues: sit, down, stand, stay, recall, place, middle, and loose leash walking. She does not enjoy being approached, touched or spoken to by strangers but has increased her thresholds for tolerance by quite a lot. She can navigate public spaces with the proper guidance but is probably never going to be a "coffee shop" dog. Shadow's Adoption fee is $250 and includes spay, microchip and current vaccinations. Story
Meet Frankie Meet beautiful Frankie. Frankie needs a super active family who can continue to give him the DAILY exercise he needs in order to thrive. He loves high energy explosive sports like running, bikejoring, skijoring, agility, dog sledding, fetch, etc. Frankie needs a committed family who will continue his training and keep exposing him to new environments. Frankie is extremely loving and sweet. He loves other dogs and is good with all farm animals, but due to not getting the exercise and exposure he needed with his last family, he developed some resource guarding with other dogs when it comes to food and toys. At this time Frankie would be best as the only dog in the home, or he needs a family who FULLY understands the concept of separate feeding and is able to manage with toys, bones etc. He may do ok living with a female dog in the home, but would need time to build a relationship to work through the resource guarding. He is fully crate trained, potty trained, and incredibly well behaved in the house. He is non-destructive, very quiet, and settles great inside. He will make someone an amazing companion and is a potential sport prospect. He DOES NOT get along with cats. If interested in learning more about this dog & setting up a potential meet & greet, please fill out our adoption application. https://www.underdogheroes.org/applytoadopt

Story
Classic Kelpie girl, NICE NIKITA is a 2yo Sweetie. It is an absolute pleasure to work with this adorable girl! Nikki demonstrates the Superior Intelligence of working breeds in everything she does. From her loving nature to her quick learning, this family doggy is a STAR! The IDEAL HOME will have two (or even LOTS more!) children, a VERY LARGE FENCED YARD, as well as someone home most of the time. Kelpies crave time to give their love and companionship. This is NOT an apartment dog. If you're looking for a FABULOUS girl to entertain your family, join you on daily RUNNING (or even walking) go hiking/beach/baseball games, THIS IS YOUR GIRL! We hardly have to mention that Nikki is ABSOLUTELY STUNNING- everywhere she goes she turns heads! Her grace, poise and charm turn heads. She is alert and aware of everthing in her environment. Also on her Doggy Resume is RODENT CONTROL! If you have a gopher or rodent issue of any kind, this FAST and bright girl will save you thousands of dollars in Pest Control. Nikki is an alpha girl, so any companion doggy should be mellow. She has not been tested with felines, but generally Kelpies are known to do well with family HOUSE cats (we can't guarantee outdoor cats though!) Australian Kelpies are in the same category as Aussies, Border Collies, etc. They are ALL VERY VERY VERY VERY Smart. That means they are NOT ideal for first time dog owners who have had no experience with these kinds of breeds. Nikki has basic training and the ideal adoption candidate to be her new family will be prepared to CONTINUE her training the minute she graces your front door. LET THIS SUMMER be remembered as the year YOUR FAMILY ADOPTED THE BEST, ONCE IN A LIFETIME DOG ever! To get an immediate interview to be on the list, respond with a PHONE NUMBER and SCHEDULE a SPECIFIC TIME WINDOW when our Volunteer Adoption Counselor will call you. (Our volunteers all take time from their own famililes/work/lives to help! No one wants to play endless telephone tag when phones are unanswered ) For the family who has been looking for the perfect FAMILY dog, CONTACT US IMMEDIATELY! This is the ONLY Australian Kelpie we have EVER had in our Rescue. She is highly valuable and impressive- we are committed to getting her into the IDEAL home so Nikkie can begin LOVING a new family and enjoying SUMMER IN SAN DIEGO!
