Story
Meet Potato! This handsome pup is equal parts brains, curiosity, and sweetness. While some puppies jump headfirst into every new adventure, Potato prefers to take a moment, look things over, and decide for himself. He's an observant little guy who likes to understand the world before diving in. His foster describes him as incredibly smart, and he's already proving it. Potato has not had a single accident in foster care, using puppy pads consistently and doing well with trips outside. Every day he grows a little more confident, and one of his biggest recent victories was choosing to walk up and ask to be held all on his own. Potato loves other dogs, is respectful around cats, and enjoys spending time outdoors exploring the yard. He can be a little cautious when meeting new people, but once he feels comfortable, his sweet personality starts to shine. He enjoys affection, likes being near his people, and is becoming more confident every day. Because of his thoughtful nature, Potato would do best with adopters who will give him time to settle in and continue building his confidence through positive experiences. Another friendly dog could be a great role model, but it's not required. If you're looking for a puppy who is smart, affectionate, and rewarding to watch blossom, Potato may be the perfect addition to your family. Apply to adopt Potato and discover what makes this special little guy so easy to love. All Heart of America Humane Society dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Adoption fee is $250. Story
Meet Bert 🖤🤍 Approx. 11 months old • 48 lbs • Border Collie / Labrador mix (best guess) Bert is the kind of dog who doesn’t show you everything right away—but give him a little time, and you’ll see what a good one he is. He can be a bit timid when meeting new people, but once he settles in, he’s all about quiet snuggles and playtime with his trusted humans. He’s currently living with other dogs and does great with medium to higher-energy playmates. He’s easygoing and respectful—he’ll even let his foster sibling take toys or treats from him without any fuss. Cats? No problem. Bert lives with them and mostly just ignores them (or naps nearby). He’s house trained, working on leash skills, and prefers not to be crated. He’ll do best with a home that can give him a little patience on the front end and let him build confidence at his own pace. Bert isn’t going to be the dog that runs up to every stranger—but he will be the one who bonds deeply with his people and becomes a really solid, loyal companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle dog who just needs a minute to feel safe, Bert might be your guy. All Heart of America Humane Society dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines. Adoption fee: $250 Our dogs are in foster homes across the KC metro. We do not have a shelter facility. Apply to adopt: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAUS/Dog

Story
Oh my goodness, Beatrix. Cute much? It’s hard to believe she’s even cuter in person! Left behind when her previous people moved away, this approximately 1-year-old Border Collie mix is approximately 55 lbs. Her estimated DOB March 2025. She is doing beautifully in foster care, learning all the things a young dog should know. While she can be initially shy with new experiences, Border Collies are smart and Beatrix is no exception. This gal is something special. Her foster mom shared: • Beatrix is in training to work on manners and learns quickly. • She is very food motivated and eager to please. • She is nervous around strangers at first but warms up quickly. • Beatrix would do best with an active family (she loves walks) and a fenced yard. • She would also do best with another dog in the home. • Once comfortable, B is cuddly, affectionate, and loves staying by your side. Belly rubs are her favorite! • She loves her stuffies, too. • She is dog friendly and loves going to doggie daycare. • She is house trained and kennel trained. • We do not know how she is with cats. Beatrix is ready for her forever family, who will give her the love and guidance she deserves. If you’re good, she’ll even train you how to rub her belly just the way she likes. Are you ready to welcome fun and affection to your life? Start by completing and submitting an application for Beatrix. A volunteer will be in touch. https://www.parkvilleshelter.com/adoption-application FOPAS is primarily run by volunteers who are passionate about animal welfare and are dedicated to our animals for their entire lives.
