Story
Pumpkin Collie / Retriever Mix (best guess) | Approx. 3 months old | ~20 lbs Pumpkin is a thoughtful, smart puppy who already shows excellent dog manners for her age. She plays well with adult dogs, responds appropriately to corrections, and adjusts her behavior without fear. She enjoys toys, carrying things around, and spending time both playing and relaxing. Based on her looks and temperament, Pumpkin appears to be a Collie / Retriever–type mix, possibly with some shepherd influence. She is expected to grow into a medium to large adult, approximately 50–65 lbs. Pumpkin is crate trained and settles well at bedtime. Potty training is still a work in progress, but she understands cues, responds to routines, and continues to improve. She is very food motivated, knows how to sit for treats, and is already learning “leave it.” Like most puppies her age, she mouths and explores, but she redirects well and wants to do what you ask. What really sets Pumpkin apart is how balanced she is for a young puppy. She is confident without being pushy, responsive without being anxious, and calmer than many puppies her age. She thinks before reacting, learns quickly, and shows strong social awareness with other dogs — all traits that typically translate into an easy, well-adjusted adult dog with continued structure and training. Pumpkin would do well in a home ready to continue basic training, provide consistency, and enjoy watching a smart, capable puppy grow into a great companion.

Story
Pet Location: Tiny is currently living in a foster home! If you`d like to schedule a time to meet her, please contact Wayside Adoptions at (816) 986-4426.My Friends at Wayside say:- I am enrolled in Waifs with Wisdom. This is a program for dogs to learn basic commands and leash walking skills. My adoption comes with a free 30-minute private training session. - I`m a shy gal who needs time to build some confidence with a patient adopter.- Cuddles are my favorite thing!- I like to stick close to my people for comfort and reassurance. - I am crate trained in my foster home.My home needs are:- I need a home with kids 6 and older, and I will need to meet any kids aged 6-9, since I can be nervous around new people and loud noises.- Wayside recommends that I meet other dogs in the home to make sure we will be best buds!- A fenced yard is a must for me! I do not know how to walk on a leash, so I need a secure area to go out for potty breaks.- For my safety, I need to go home on an anti-slip collar called a martingale collar. For your convenience, we sell them in our retail store, Whiskers and Wags.Hi there, I’m Tiny! I’m such a fun, playful, goofy pup, ready to discover the love and comfort that only a real family can bring. I’ve never had that before, but I’m ready for my chance to shine. There’s so much I want to learn about life, so much for me still to experience. It can sometimes feel overwhelming to a shy gal like me, but with a little time, patience, and love, I will be such a wonderful companion. I hope you’d like to join me on my journey. I would love to be your dog. I’m an adorable, 6-month-old, 30-pound (and still growing!) Border Collie mix, with gentle eyes, a bright smile, soft puppy fur, and a happy, sweet, spunky yet unassuming personality. I’m already crate trained. I’m not housebroken yet, but I’m working on it and making progress. If you keep me on a schedule and get me outside frequently, it will help to set me up for success. Please stay patient with me, though, as I learn my new routine and all the rules of my new home. I lived my entire life in a rural shelter in Oklahoma before getting transferred to Wayside. It was a confusing, stressful, lonely time moving from the only place I had ever known to a new city with all new people and strange noises and what not. Just when I started to lose hope, Foster Mom appeared! She took me home with her to teach me about how my life shou

Story
Cannoli is the biggest baby who loves nothing more than cuddles and belly rubs. He's full of energy and would do best in a place where he has room to run. He does have some anxiety but most of that is due to the lack of space.

Story
Ever heard of the KC Dog Trappers? They find lost dogs and stray dogs all around the KC area. Well&#44 I sweet and shy BRUNO&#44 owe my life to them! A Good Samaritan contacted them after they saw me living all alone near a sewer drain and a busy street. I was so confused and I have no idea what happened to my family&#44 my home&#44 my friends. All I knew was that I was alone&#44 cold&#44 scared&#44 and hungry all the time. The Trappers seemed nice enough&#44 and they brought me food. I was so hungry and so tired of being alone&#44 I conjured up the courage to put on my bravest face&#44 and I surrendered to them. Thank goodness they whisked me to the safety of Great Plains.

Compared to where I was just a few short weeks ago and now&#44 the difference is night and day! I have made new friends here&#44 and they all think Im pretty terrific. Ive become an office dog&#44 and my office person says Im a perfect angel. And its great to have an angel right around Christmastime&#44 dont you think? I have short brown hair&#44 white on my chest and paws&#44 and the most gentle of brown eyes. They have seen much sadness; but now&#44 my eyes glow from the love that people bestow on me each day Im here.

According to my office pal&#44 I am potty trained&#44 not destructive in the least&#44 Im quiet&#44 and Im also good on leash. I love to sleep under her feet. I know sit and shake - and I shake with both paws. At first&#44 when new people appeared at the office door&#44 I hid under her desk. No courage or confidence. Now I will meet and greet anyone coming to visit. Oh Im still slower and more cautious and a little unsure of myself&#44 but I remember that when you put on a brave face&#44 good things happen! I

I do love humans and their baby talk&#44 and I will get one of my toys and bring it to you and play bow - just so you know Id like to play. I should mention that currently vets scare me a little bit. I tremble when I see their office door. But I know that no one here is going to make me do anything that isnt in my best interest. So&#44 there comes that brave face again!

I think Im a pretty special and wonderful boy. I think if youd just meet me&#44 youd feel the same way. Im friendly and kind&#44 sweet and wiggly&#44 too. All I want is this chance to find a family to love me. It would mean the world to me to have someone to look up to&#44 someone to play with&#44 someone to help me feel safe. Someone to love me. Thats really all I want. And someone that I can love in return.

Please&#44 if you are thinking about getting a dog&#44 please think about me&#44 ok?

Love from Bruno

Story
Meet Koby! This sweet, loving boy came into our care right after he was born with his mama and all his siblings. He found a home for a while, but then was returned because they didn't have time for him. Koby is potty trained and loves to play with toys, especially fetch with his frisbee. He gets along with all people, including kids, and other dogs! One of his previous fosters even said he was good with cats, but it's been a while since he's seen one so he may need to be tried again. He doesn't get on furniture and is very well behaved - he comes when called, knows most commands, and doesn't run. His favorite snack is ice and he loves to ride in cars. He is also very good when getting his nails trimmed and has the softest fur. Koby is a Velcro dog who loves attention and will follow you everywhere. He would do best in a home with other dogs where his people would be home most of the time, he gets scared when left alone.
