Story
Meet Bert 🖤🤍 Approx. 11 months old • 48 lbs • Border Collie / Labrador mix (best guess) Bert is the kind of dog who doesn’t show you everything right away—but give him a little time, and you’ll see what a good one he is. He can be a bit timid when meeting new people, but once he settles in, he’s all about quiet snuggles and playtime with his trusted humans. He’s currently living with other dogs and does great with medium to higher-energy playmates. He’s easygoing and respectful—he’ll even let his foster sibling take toys or treats from him without any fuss. Cats? No problem. Bert lives with them and mostly just ignores them (or naps nearby). He’s house trained, working on leash skills, and prefers not to be crated. He’ll do best with a home that can give him a little patience on the front end and let him build confidence at his own pace. Bert isn’t going to be the dog that runs up to every stranger—but he will be the one who bonds deeply with his people and becomes a really solid, loyal companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle dog who just needs a minute to feel safe, Bert might be your guy. All Heart of America Humane Society dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines. Adoption fee: $250 Our dogs are in foster homes across the KC metro. We do not have a shelter facility. Apply to adopt: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAUS/Dog

Story
Meet Mabel 🖤 Mabel is a 2-year-old Australian Shepherd weighing around 30–40 lbs with a sensitive soul and a huge heart for the people she trusts. She’s shy and slow to warm up at first, but once she feels safe, she becomes incredibly loving, loyal, and affectionate. One of her favorite things in the world? Belly rubs from her favorite humans. 💕 Mabel knows several commands and is a smart girl who thrives with structure and guidance. Like many Aussies, she bonds deeply to her person and has natural protective instincts, so she’s looking for a calm, predictable home with an experienced adopter who understands the breed and is comfortable managing those tendencies. Mabel can be a bit nervous when approached by strangers on leash and prefers space from unfamiliar people while out and about. Because of this, she is not recommended for beginner dog owners or busy social households. She would do best in an adult-only home to make her environment more predictable. Young kids and chaotic homes are simply too overwhelming for her. Mabel feels strongly about her food, so her future family will need to continue appropriate management and respect her boundaries. Once Mabel trusts you, though, she is SO sweet. She’s gentle, devoted, and happiest simply being close to her people. The bond she forms is incredibly special, and for someone familiar with her breed traits and willing to give her patience, consistency, and reassurance, she is going to be an amazing companion. Mabel will be the perfect companion for the right home. She is a sweet, sensitive soul who deserves the chance at a calm and loving home. Mabel is eligible for our foster to adopt program. This means you can take some time getting to know each other before making it official! ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Once approved, we’ll work with you to ensure it’s a great fit—and if it’s not, no worries! We’ll help you find the right match.
