Story
Meet Bert 🖤🤍 Approx. 11 months old • 48 lbs • Border Collie / Labrador mix (best guess) Bert is the kind of dog who doesn’t show you everything right away—but give him a little time, and you’ll see what a good one he is. He can be a bit timid when meeting new people, but once he settles in, he’s all about quiet snuggles and playtime with his trusted humans. He’s currently living with other dogs and does great with medium to higher-energy playmates. He’s easygoing and respectful—he’ll even let his foster sibling take toys or treats from him without any fuss. Cats? No problem. Bert lives with them and mostly just ignores them (or naps nearby). He’s house trained, working on leash skills, and prefers not to be crated. He’ll do best with a home that can give him a little patience on the front end and let him build confidence at his own pace. Bert isn’t going to be the dog that runs up to every stranger—but he will be the one who bonds deeply with his people and becomes a really solid, loyal companion. If you’re looking for a sweet, gentle dog who just needs a minute to feel safe, Bert might be your guy. All Heart of America Humane Society dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccines. Adoption fee: $250 Our dogs are in foster homes across the KC metro. We do not have a shelter facility. Apply to adopt: https://new.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/HAUS/Dog

Story
Meet Rascal! Rascal is a handsome farm dog mix puppy with a thoughtful expression and a playful side that's starting to shine. With his striking dark mask, fluffy coat, and soulful eyes, he's the kind of pup who turns heads wherever he goes. Rascal appears to be the classic farm dog mix—the kind of all-around companion known for being smart, adaptable, and eager to be part of the action. While his exact breed mix is a mystery, we expect him to grow into a loyal family dog who will be just as happy joining you on adventures as he is relaxing at home. This young pup is learning about the world one day at a time and gaining confidence with every new experience. He's curious, observant, and enjoys spending time with people while also exploring his surroundings. Whether he's investigating something interesting in the yard or settling in for a cuddle, Rascal approaches life with a sweet and steady nature. As with all puppies, Rascal will need continued training, socialization, and guidance as he grows. The time you invest now will pay off with a wonderful companion for years to come. If you're looking for a smart, adorable puppy to share life's adventures with, Rascal may be the perfect fit. All Heart of America Humane Society dogs are spayed/neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on age-appropriate vaccinations. Adoption fee is $250. Story
🐾 Meet Jack! 🐾 Jack is a 15-month-old Border Collie mix weighing just under 60 pounds, and if you’re looking for a sweet, social, easygoing companion, this handsome boy checks all the boxes. Jack came to us from Oklahoma after being rescued from a truly heartbreaking situation. Despite his difficult start, he hasn’t let his past define him. Instead, he’s proven to be one of the kindest, happiest dogs you’ll ever meet. This lovable guy adores everyone. He is said to be wonderful with kids, teenagers, adults, cats, and dogs of every size—Jack is happy to make friends with them all. He has wonderful manners around food, treats, toys, and chewies, showing no signs of resource guarding with either people or other dogs. In his foster home, Jack has become fast friends with his foster siblings, a German Shepherd mix and a Cattle Dog mix. While he’ll play with toys occasionally, he’d much rather spend his time wrestling with another dog or hanging out with his people. When playtime is over, Jack is all about the cuddles. He’s incredibly affectionate and sometimes gives the sweetest little hugs by gently putting his paws up to say hello. He’s also eager to please and responds well to gentle guidance, happily getting back down when asked. Jack is already showing great house manners, too. He consistently goes to the door when he needs to go outside, has done well in a kennel while his foster is away, and settles nicely overnight after a few moments of protest. He’s a smart, responsive young dog who is eager to learn and ready to continue becoming an amazing family companion. If you’re looking for a dog with the playful spirit of a young pup, the loving heart of a best friend, and the temperament to fit into almost any family, Jack is ready to meet you. ❤️ ----------------------------------------- If you’re interested in adopting, please apply online at mscrescue.org/adopt. Story
Oh my goodness, Beatrix. Cute much? It’s hard to believe she’s even cuter in person! Left behind when her previous people moved away, this approximately 1-year-old Border Collie mix is approximately 55 lbs. Her estimated DOB March 2025. She is doing beautifully in foster care, learning all the things a young dog should know. While she can be initially shy with new experiences, Border Collies are smart and Beatrix is no exception. This gal is something special. Her foster mom shared: • Beatrix is in training to work on manners and learns quickly. • She is very food motivated and eager to please. • She is nervous around strangers at first but warms up quickly. • Beatrix would do best with an active family (she loves walks) and a fenced yard. • She would also do best with another dog in the home. • Once comfortable, B is cuddly, affectionate, and loves staying by your side. Belly rubs are her favorite! • She loves her stuffies, too. • She is dog friendly and loves going to doggie daycare. • She is house trained and kennel trained. • We do not know how she is with cats. Beatrix is ready for her forever family, who will give her the love and guidance she deserves. If you’re good, she’ll even train you how to rub her belly just the way she likes. Are you ready to welcome fun and affection to your life? Start by completing and submitting an application for Beatrix. A volunteer will be in touch. https://www.parkvilleshelter.com/adoption-application FOPAS is primarily run by volunteers who are passionate about animal welfare and are dedicated to our animals for their entire lives. As such, we screen all potential adopters and strive to match each adopter with the perfect fit for their lifestyle and activity level. All adopters must live within a 4 hour drive of Parkville, Missouri.
