Story
Sol was adopted from a kill shelter when she was 4 months old. She a very loving dog that has a bunch of energy. When she gets excited she will jump like a kangaroo. She loves to run around outside and sunbathe in the sun. She is kennel trained but is a master of getting out. She knows how to sit and stay but her butt will get excited. She hasn't had a problem with anyone she has meet. She has another dog in the house and is rather friendly with her but does resource guard like bones, food, and beds. She has also met other dogs she just has to be introduced slowly. She is roughly 2 years old and we made her birthday October 31.

Story
I’m Lark, a thoughtful, sweet 17# Border Collie girl born in mid-December 2025. I’m looking for a family that understands the best relationships are built on trust, patience, and love. My personality shines brighter every day, and I am truly a special girl. At first, I'm a little shy - the big world is new to me! At my core, I am a happy, playful, affectionate pup who absolutely adores my people. I love chew toys, wrestling with my foster canine sister, zooming around at the park, and soaking up praise and love from the humans I trust most. I’m a sensitive soul, true to my breed. My life's goal is a deep connection with my family – you can see it in my eyes! I will be completely devoted to my very own special people. Because I’m still learning about everything, I want to find a patient home that will help me build confidence at my own pace. Positive, low-key socialization is very important. Loud noises, cars rushing by, and pressure can feel overwhelming. Obedience classes are a must - I learn quickly and love it! I’m learning to walk on leash, getting on a potty schedule, and do well in my crate after some exercise and mental stimulation. I sleep quietly in my crate at night. Because I'm still very young, I need potty breaks every few hours. My ideal family has experience with Border Collies, or maybe other higher-energy, smart dogs. They will enjoy keeping my mind and body active as much as I do. A confident canine sibling would be a huge bonus because another friendly pup helps me feel brave and secure. Teen kids that won't overwhelm me could be a good fit. Dog-savvy cats are probably okay too if they won’t run, because I might chase them for fun! My foster mom says: It's easy to tell when Lark trusts you: she looks to you for guidance and support. Once that connection is built, your heart will belong to her forever. The very lucky family that adopts Lark will find they have their a once-in-a-lifetime dog. If you can see my loyal heart waiting to bloom into your best best friend, we should meet! APPLY to adopt me at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Lark is being fostered in Eagan, MN. Lark's adoption fee is $550 + MN sales tax. She is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. She will be spayed and microchipped when she reaches 6 months of age. The cost of this procedure is included in her adoption fee. Upon adoption, all of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Story
Meet Spark, a mid‑December 2025 baby with long legs, a soft heart, and a whole lot of devotion packed into his 16 pounds. This Border Collie mix is the perfect blend of silly and snuggly. He trots around with puppy confidence, playing with toys and enjoying life. When it’s time for a break, he wants to be near his people, chilling out together. Spark’s favorite thing in life is people. Dogs are fun, toys are good, but his person is everything. He plays well with the other dogs in his foster home, but he consistently chooses human companionship over canine company. He’ll be happiest with a family that enjoys a dog-friendly active lifestyle and carries a calm, easygoing energy. Think walks, exploring new places, and then relaxing together afterward. Daily exercise will keep him happy. He’s curious about the world and has already experienced car rides, new environments, suburban sights and sounds, and meeting new dogs. He’s comfortable around cats, giving them a polite sniff before moving on. Best in a home with kids roughly 10 and over. Spark is working hard on house training and does best with a predictable schedule. He needs frequent breaks at this age. Crating isn’t his favorite, but he settles best when he can see or hear his person nearby. On leash, he’s still figuring things out, primarily by following the lead of older, more experienced dogs. Spark will do well with a canine sibling and can be an only dog. Families with herding‑breed experience is preferred to help guide his bright, sensitive mind. He’ll also need support learning to be comfortable on his own, because his instinct is to stay close and be with his people. Obedience classes are required to ensure he has a solid start to a long life of going with you everywhere: he will no doubt be your best friend. If you’re looking for a devoted, leggy little shadow who will adore you endlessly, Spark is ready to light up your life. See more videos of Spark at https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PL5ZDuP3CNniSx5VVqPczSHFQSSxH59T8I Spark is being fostered in Brooklyn Park, MN. Spark's adoption fee is $550 + MN sales tax. He is up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. He will be neutered and microchipped at the age of roughly 6 months. The cost of this procedure is included in his adoption fee. Story
Nyx is the kind of dog who quietly works her way into your heart and never leaves. This almost-3-year-old, 40# Border Collie has the sweetest, most adoring personality. Her tail never stops wagging, especially when she’s near her favorite people... which is exactly where she always wants to be. Nyx is happiest being included in everyday life. Whether she’s lounging on the couch, quietly relaxing in the office while her person works, sitting outside on the patio, or joining you for a leisurely walk, she radiates calm companionship. She has a medium energy level with occasional happy bursts of excitement, but overall, she’s incredibly easy to live with. Watching Nyx blossom and discover “dog things” has been a pleasure. She’s learning to enjoy adventures, figuring out toys and did great at a quiet restaurant patio. She gains confidence with car rides and new experiences. Around the neighborhood, she meets kids and neighbors, encounters bikes and other traffic, and handles all the activity like a champ. Nyx gets along well with other dogs and cats in her foster home. She’s far more people-focused than dog-focused. She would thrive in almost any loving home as long as she has the opportunity to expand her horizons with continued socialization. She wants daily exercise like neighborhood walks and enjoys cuddles after a fun day. She’s comfortable in a crate, walks nicely on leash, and doesn’t require a fenced yard, though she she would enjoy having one (right now she isn't quite sure what to do in the yard but her independence is growing). Nyx is a delightful, lovely and happy girl looking for people who share her optimistic view of life and all it has to offer. She deserves a truly special home that is as devoted to her as she will be to them. To know her is to love her! APPLY to adopt Nyx at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Nyx is being fostered in Rochester, MN. She’s currently healing beautifully from a flea allergy that caused some hair loss and is almost finished with treatment for Ehrlichia. Through it all, Nyx has remained gentle, affectionate, and incredibly loving. Nyx's adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. She is microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. She will be spayed when her current medications are complete: likely in June. The cost of this procedure is included in her adoption fee. Upon adoption, all of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Story
Meet Jack, a young hearted 7-year-old, 45# Border Collie with the perfect blend of adventure buddy and cuddle companion wrapped in a lovable, fluffy package. He is a mature guy who has figured out the balance between having fun and time to relax. His foster family describes him as responsible, charismatic, loving, and endlessly positive: the kind of dog who wants to make his people smile. He’s a doof! Jack lives to be outside. The woods are his happy place, whether he’s romping with canine friends, stretching his legs on a run, or keeping an eye on squirrels to ensure they stay in their trees. If you love hiking, jogging or exploring trails, Jack will happily be your loyal sidekick. He’s also fantastic in the car and thinks road trips are one of life’s greatest joys. Despite his love for activity, Jack is not a high-maintenance, nonstop-energy dog. He’s solidly medium energy and settles beautifully after exercise. In the evenings, his favorite place is curled up beside - or preferably on - his humans. He is a devoted lap dog and cuddle expert. Jack is wonderfully experienced in the world. He has lived with children, gets along great with other dogs, and even shares his home with three cats. He walks nicely on a gentle leader and can be trusted loose in the house. He is well-behaved, and he doesn’t chase cars, lunge at people, or react to animals. All he wants is engagement with his special person or family. The ideal home for Jack has Border Collie experience and understands smart dogs. They are fully engaged with their pups and will provide physical and mental activities to keep him happy. If you’re an outdoor enthusiast and love smart dogs who are more person than they are canine, Jack is your guy! Story
Jay is the kind of puppy who makes you smile for many reasons. Born in mid-December 2025, this 20# Border Collie is lots of things! Cuddly companion, curious explorer, and busy helper involved in everything his people are doing. Attentive, affectionate, and eager to engage, Jay keeps a close eye on his humans and loves connecting with them. This sweet pup loves toys, treats, and any opportunity to go do anything. Whether it’s a walk around the neighborhood, a car ride, or a visit to meet new friends who will offer pets and attention, Jay is ready to tag along. He appreciates people who respect his gentle nature and let him approach on his own terms. Once he feels comfortable, he’s incredibly loving and happy to enjoy lots of attention. Jay has a medium energy level and wants a calmer home with an active family that enjoys daily walks, playtime in the yard, and spending quality time together. He’s a thoughtful learner who responds beautifully to positive reinforcement training. Because he’s a soft, sensitive dog, he will thrive with a focus on encouragement and building confidence. In return, Jay will do his best to make you happy and receive praise or a reward. He walks nicely on leash and shows excellent check-in behaviors. He sleeps soundly in his crate at night, travels well in the car (crated), and is learning house training skills - he's almost got it down! A schedule and consistency will help him master the routine. Jay can be a little mischievous too (as he should be!). Shoes and household items may occasionally become “toys” if left unattended. Jay wants a Border Collie experienced family - he demonstrates traits of the breed (stalking, chasing and intensity). He would love a canine sibling to show him the ropes – he adores his foster canine sister! He currently lives with a cat and ignores her. He can live with low-key herding dog-savvy kids who will respect his tender heart and understand how to handle herding behaviors. If you’re looking for a devoted, sensitive puppy who wants to learn, cuddle, and be your constant sidekick, Jay may be your perfect match. APPLY to adopt Jay at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Jay is being fostered in Duluth, MN. Jay's adoption fee is $550 + MN sales tax. He is microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines.
