Story
Hi! I'm Martha! I'm from Kentucky. I am about 2 years old and 40 pounds. From her foster: Here are a few things about Martha: She is full of energy! And is reactive to rabbits and squirrels when out on a walk. When she sees rabbits and squirrels she pulls hard on the leash and barks, so she needs more leash training. She will play with her squeaky toys by herself and will run around the house and shake them. Martha is very loveable and is very good in the house. She cuddles up to you whenever you sit on the couch. She also likes to look out the doors and windows and will jump on the doors when she gets excited. Martha gets about 4 walks a day, one being just before bedtime. Her bedtime walk is usually about half an hour, and she still has energy, she gets what we call the zoomies, she runs around the house playing with her toys, and then she likes to jump on the bed. This lasts about 10 minutes, and she settles down. Martha will sleep on the bed with you if it is not too warm. Martha has not meet cats, and she loves meeting new people and dogs. She will play with other dogs but does much better when off leash. We have not let her outside without being on a leash. She is house trained, and we have not noticed any separation anxiety. Martha has not met any children, that we know of, but she is not scared of men or women. ( ** Martha has now meet children, and does not have any issues.) PREVIOUS POST: Martha is a very energetic, playful girl. She wants to play with EVERYONE, including squirrels, people, and other dogs. She has so much love to give and will quite literally climb into your lap and give you all the kisses and cuddles. She loves the water and will jump into the stream/lake on hikes and runs. She does not like baths. She does really well in her crate or even in a safe room, but will whine if she sees you nearby...she just wants to be with you! Dog friends who she can play with are a plus in an adoptive home as she likes company and they will help her get out her energy! She will need some training for leash walking and needs corrections for barking or pulling. However, she is a quick learner and responds to a stern "no" and a "yes" (and a couple of treats as well!). She needs stability to calm her anxiety and someone who will lead her with strong guidance.

Story
Hi! I'm Twist! I am from Missouri! Twist is 100% typical and lovable puppy! He is incredibly smart and is learning very quickly. He has a decent sit under his belt with hopefully more commands to come. He already listens when we tell him 'no' and is pretty easily redirected and is starting to come to his name! In the short time we've had him he's been super goofy and very playful, full of rambunctious puppy energy, usually followed by a flop and a nap. He definitely will be more suited to an active family, or one that will give him a job (he does have some herding tendencies!). We think he would make an incredible agility dog. He's done well meeting new people including kids, and new dogs. Cats are unknown. Potty training is a work in progress but he does very well on a schedule and if you're paying attention watching for the signs he needs to go (about 4 hours is his max right now between potty breaks). He does still get up at least once overnight to go out to potty, so don't expect a full nights sleep just yet! Give him a few months and he'll be ready for that. He sleeps well in a crate in our room overnight and one in the kitchen when we're gone. He loves toys and zoomies, is a star at couch parkour, and loves to squeak and shred his toys. When he's finished with that, he LOVES a good snuggle and pets, and is very affectionate with his people. He does jump up on people when he's excited at this point, but is slowly learning that he doesn't get attention that way-only when he has all four feet on the floor. He also has some typical puppy mouthiness but is easily redirected. He can be a little anxious with big noises at first, but we've been continuing to expose him to much as possible (we've conquered the vacuum and the lawn mower!). Once he knows it's ok, he moves on pretty quickly. This little tornado will make a great addition to most families, and he can't wait to keep learning how to be his best self with you!

Hi! I'm Twirl! I am from Missouri. From her foster: Twirl is a sweet, beautiful, smart young pup. Since being here she has had one acccident and that was in the first hour of arriving so does it count? Twirl loves walks and exploring outside. She likes her people and loves to snuggle up for a nap. She is a puppy therefore still understanding what she can/ can't chew. Direct her to a bone or toy and she is golden! She likes to play and hangout with her foster siblings so other dogs should be okay. No exposure to cats so not sure how that would go although she is truly so sweet I can't see it being a problem. Twirl is an amazing pup and will make someone a wonderful companion/ family dog!

Story
Twila… This girl had a rough start to life living most of her young life with mange. When she was found she was in a dumpster ready to give up. Rescue stepped in and now she is no longer that dog. She is young and vibrant and so full of love and life. She is such a good girl that wants to please her person and loves to be at your side. She is smart as a whip learning new things everyday. She knows sit, nahuh, come, and kennel (with the help of her treats). Twila loves everyone she meets humans, canines and even chickens . She is kennel trained however she would probably be fine out of her kennel after she settles in somewhere new and I KNOW she would love to sleep with her human as snuggles are one of her favorite things. Twila is potty trained never having accidents in her kennel but should be let out frequently when out of her kennel to help her keep mastering this. She has just realized what toys are and has decided that tennis balls are her favorite along with hard chew toys, Lamb Chop is her baby always being gentle with her nibbles and bringing it to bed with her at night. Twila has a gift of knowing when you are upset and will come up to you with her gentle kisses to remind you that everything will be okay. She truly is a special dog that I feel realizes how lucky she is to have this 2nd chance at life and she is not wasting it. Twila loves to spend time in the garden helping clear the weeds and eating green beans. She does will in the car and enjoys the occasional pup cup. When her busy day is over and it is time to unwind she is happy to lay in her dog bed and snooze. Twila would do well  in  a home with kids who can  withstand her  energetic hugs and the whips of her happy tail. She is the Muttiest of Mutt with over 20 breeds detected in her DNA (Pictures attached :) ) Twila has her vetting scheduled for 8/12and should be able to head to her new home 8/17. If you are interested in learning more about Twila please fill out an application. If you are interested in getting to know this animal better, please submit an Adoption Request Form. Story
Welcome Houdini to CCPAL foster program. Houdini is a young male that is 5 months old. He is 50% Border Collie and the other is Terrier. He has the coat and temperament of the Border Collie. He should be 45 pounds full grown. He currently is about 25 pounds. He lives with children and is around goats in his farm house foster home. He has long beautiful and shinny fur. He is attentive and knows sit, shake a paw and can walk on a leash. He is good in a car and friendly with his litter mates. He hasn’t been around any other dogs but his litter mates. They are all boys. Houdini is not the most dominant of the 3 pack. He has the striking looks of a Border Collie. We would love someone that knows and loves the breed to apply for Houdini. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 200 and transport is 600. He is healthy, vaccinated, neutered and ready for his forever home. He can be in a home with children. We like them to be 8 or older. Rhode Island and Massachusetts are not states we adopt to because of the regulations imposed by these states Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email to ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Story
Welcome Bear to CCPAL foster program. Bear is a young male that is 5 months old. He is 50% Border Collie and the other is Terrier. These puppies all love the water and would love a home that allows them to play in the water. He is the biggest of the 3 boys and a stronger personality. He is the most dominant of the 3 boys. He is outgoing and social and is slightly less attentive than his two brothers. He should be 50 pounds full grown. He currently is about 27 pounds. He lives with children and is around goats in his farm house foster home. He has long beautiful and shinny fur. He is knows sit and can walk on a leash. He is good in a car and friendly with his litter mates. He hasn’t been around any other dogs but his litter mates. They are all boys. He has the striking looks of a Border Collie. We would love someone that knows and loves the breed to apply for Bear or any in this litter. We think Bear has less of the Border Collie personality and more of the dad’s personality who was a Terrier. He is currently in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast.
