Story
Hi! My name is Acoe and I am from Missouri. Acoe is a very sweet puppy who loves pets, cuddling and naps on your lap. He has lots of love to give, sometimes a little excessively. He is very curious, wanting to explore and see everything, but does get frightened. He is working on his bravery and could use help continuing to explore the world. As with all puppies, Acoe needs close supervision as he likes to chew on everything. With proper chew toys, guidance and time, he will learn how to channel his energy and teething needs. He has very few accidents in the house (!) but we have kept a consistent schedule because he hasn't learned how to tell us he needs to go. Acoe can hold it consistently for about 5 hours but as he learns a new environment more frequent let outs would be helpful for his success. He sleeps in his crate at night. When there is movement or noise around him while he is crated, he will whine but otherwise does quite well. Acoe has not been very vocal at all yet, only barked a few times when trying to play. He needs training and support but has the potential to be an amazing companion and addition to your home. He has been getting along okay with the resident dog but hasn't learned boundaries or how to read other dogs quite yet. If he is going into a home that already has a dog, he would do best with a tolerant dog who is willing to help him learn the ropes.

Story
Hi! My name is Scoob Or I go by Scooby too! I came from KY with my mom and two brothers. This sweet little ball of energy will brighten anyone's day. He is currently working on leash training, and loves to greet anyone on the block (dogs or humans). He definitely has puppy energy, so would be perfect for someone who could take him for long walks, or has a backyard he can run around in. For being a puppy he's very curious but is a fast learner. Scoob has been doing great going outside and letting us know by sitting by the door, but will still have some accidents. He is doing well with crate training overnight and intermittently throughout the day. His ideal home would be in a house, due to some barking tendency's. He is currently is living with another dog, but loves to be the star of the show. Scoob is looking for his furever home filled with lots of love and attention.

Story
Hi! My name is Daphne and I am from Kentucky. Hi! I'm Daphne. My foster parents say I am a sweet love bug who wants to give you all the kisses and cuddles. I am quiet in the house and love to nap, but will play with toys if they're around. I enjoy walks around the neighborhood, but am working on my confidence outside. Sometimes (OK, a lot of the time) cars, people, and other dogs are scary so I bark at them. My foster brother is very chill and is helping me learn not everything needs to be barked at and I am getting much better! Other than this one quirk, my foster parents say I am perfect. I am a pretty quiet girl inside though where I feel much more relaxed. I am crate trained and house trained. My foster parents leave me out when they leave the house and I don't get into things. I have been a little sassy with my foster brother on occasion (low growl if I'm not expecting him to be in my space), but 99% of the time want him to my friend.

Hi! My name is Freddie and I am from Kentucky. From his foster: He doesn't bark as much only when he needs something. He likes to lay down and relax while playing with his toys. He gets random energy boosts and runs around. He enjoys going on walks. He does tend to bite and nibble on things. He likes meeting new people.

Hi! My name is Shaggy and I am from Kentucky. Sweet Shaggy made his way from Kentucky to Minnesota with his mom (Daphne) and two brothers (Fred and Scoob) in mid-November. Since arriving in his MN foster home, he's certainly grown in all ways. His comfort, confidence, and rotund little body. For being a little guy, he sure does move quick. In typical herding-breed fashion, he also enjoys being chased, chasing others, and some good rough and tumble playtime. Shaggy has been doing great going outside on a schedule, and is doing well with crate training overnight and intermittently throughout the day. His ideal home will be one that is committed to working with him to be a smart, confident, and well behaved boy as he continues to grow. Someone who is up for long walks, socialization, and a lifetime of love and laughs would be a great fit for Shaggy!

Hi! My name is Cona and I am from Missouri. From the foster: Cona is a very sweet dog and he loves to be pet. He loves to chew on toys and bones but is not very confident on playing with other dogs or people yet. He does still have some puppy energy and will jump/lick when excited but overall he isn't high energy so I will call him a moderate puppy energy. He does amazing sleeping through the night and is potty trained. Cona is still learning about stairs. He is confident with a couple stairs (up and down) and has started going up the full flight of stairs on his own but he is still wary about going down a full flight of stairs.

Disclaimer: I'm currently soaking up the Texas sun, but the great news is that I can be transported to my forever home once adopted, and the transport fee is $230.My journey began when I was surrendered, along with my four precious puppies, because my family couldn't provide the care I needed. I'm a bundle of energy and an incredible jumper! My foster mom thinks I have all the potential to excel in agility training courses. While I absolutely adore the company of other dogs, I'm not a fan of being on my own, so a home with a calmer dog would be a perfect fit to help me settle. I'm a social butterfly who cherishes my human companions and still carries that puppy-like spirit in my heart. In my previous home, I was raised alongside three children, aged 8 to 16, so I'm sure to thrive in an energetic family environment. If you're looking for a furry friend who's ready to embark on adventures with you, look no further. Apply today and let's make a fantastic team!*Disclaimer: This pet is located in Texas. Once adoption is finalized the pet will be transported to the adopters location for an additional fee (currently $230-$250).* The adoption fee helps to cover some of the cost of vetting the animal prior to adoption (spay/neuter, microchipping, and up to date vaccinations). Please fill out an adoption application to be considered for adoption. https://service.sheltermanager.com/asmservice?account=ch2817&method=online_form_html&formid=41

Meet Leera! This stunning, sweet girl is looking for her forever home! Look at her amazing eyes! She is a very playful and curious pup who thrives on outdoor adventures. Leera is always down for play time – fetching, running, and tug of war are her faves! She has a lot of energy and loves to be always on-the-go! Training and work are super fun and pleasing to Leera- she is a smart baby girl! Leera  enjoys chewing on bones & bully sticks (any and all chew toys!), playing with squeaky toys, shadowing her people, and going on leashed walks/runs/hikes around the neighborhood so she can say “Hello” to all her two- and four-legged friends. Yes, Leera is a social butterfly! Crate and potty training have been a breeze – this lady is the SMARTEST! We have started some agility training in the backyard and Leera is such an easy learner! Her furrrever home should be committed to continuing training, enrichment activities, and exercise. She is friendly to my resident cats but likes to chase them if they’re moving fast!  Leera is the perfect pup for an active person who is ready for an adventure buddy and ready to work with a smart pup- if that is you- you 2 will have an amazing life together! Story
Welcome Marcos to CCPAL Rescue. Marcos is a 13-week-old Border Collie mix. He is the one in the litter that looks most like the girls in the litter. He is black white and tan and is calmer than both of the white Border Collies in this litter. The momma dog is a pure-bred Border Collie and she is a farm dog that herds goats. Marcos was born on a farm. Marcos is one of the smaller boy pups in the litter. All the boys are bigger than the girls. He and the girls are the least active pups. These pups should be 40-45 pounds full grown is our best estimate. The other parent is a mystery. The momma is a farm dog and herds the goats. Marcos has medium length coat and it is nice and soft. The pups like water, are affectionate and smart. They were good getting their bath and Marcos is quiet when you pick him up and has the most beautiful coat and eyes. He has the longer coat like the Border Collie. He is smart and will be a fun boy to train. We would like someone who has owned the working breed or a border collie. People who have had a BC do love this breed. He is good in his litter playing and is less energetic than the white boy dogs. Today he got his first round of vaccines and his Nexgard. He will then be neutered and ready for his new home. He will be loved on by the kennel workers here at the shelter until he finds his new home. He was turned in by the person that had the female mother Border Collie. These pups are precious and would be fine with children or other dogs. We like the children to be 8 or older. He is in Texas and can be adopted locally or we can work with one of the wonderful transporters to get him to Washington, Portland, Minnesota, Vermont or all along the East Coast. His adoption fee is 400 and transport is 200. Contact Marlene at 210-867-1769 or email ccpalinquiries@gmail.com if you have questions. Online applications at www.ccpal.info/ See his cute video!!

Story
Jinx is a 8 year old border collie looking for a home where he can stay busy and challanged. He is smart, intense and has a high drive. We think he could excel at agility or obedience and likely other dog sports! He needs a home with experience and interest in training. He is a very sweet boy who loves to snuggle as much as play! He is very loyal and wants to please his people. He is housebroken and crate trained. This boy loves to play fetch and can spend hours pushing balls around the yard! Jinx has lived with many dogs and has done well with most, but can be selective. He may do best as an only dog. He is not good with cats. Jinx is neutered, vaccinated, heart worm negative, and microchipped. Jinx is not an easy dog, but he will be an amazing friend to the right family! Jinx is a courtesy post, please do not contact MUSHR but instead email his foster owner at megwagner@hotmail.com and include some information about your family. Jinx is fostered outside of the metro area, you must be willing to travel to meet him.

Story
Meet Kage, the ultimate good boy who's just so darn cute! This gentleman is a pro at house living, fully potty trained, and a master at walking on a leash and harness. He's a social butterfly, getting along famously with other dogs and loving those backyard playdates with his pals. Kage is a stunning mix of Lab and Border Collie, the perfect blend of intelligence and family-friendliness. He's just the right size, like a mini Lab or a slightly larger Border Collie. When you find two fantastic things that go together like peanut butter and jelly, you celebrate! Kage is that winning combo, and now you can celebrate by making him a cherished member of your family. His temperament is pure gold - sweet as honey with everyone he meets. Now, here's the scoop: Kage is a special needs pup, and he's looking for someone who can be with him about 90 percent of the time. Storms, rain, and loud noises send him into severe panic attacks, and he's been known to chew through walls when anxiety strikes. Crates aren't his jam because of past storm-related trauma. He's also dealing with seizures, so he's on medication for that. Kage would thrive in a local adoption, and he's best as a single dog with no cats or small animals around. He's a wonderful companion for older kids, and he loves nothing more than cuddles and long walks. He's got the whole house training thing down too. His foster mom adores him and has prepared him for his forever family as best she can. Now, the ball is in your court. Remember, when you adopt Kage, you're not just bringing home a good boy; you're giving him the loving, understanding home he deserves. Don't shop, adopt, because Kage's life depends on it! Local adoption fee is $200 (in TX) Out of state adoption fee is $400 (includes transport to your area - $50 Temporary Fuel Charge will be added)

These pups are in Minnetonka, Minnesota too!

Story
Hi! My name is Chevy and I am from a shelter in Arkansas. Chevy is a gem of a dog! He is a very sweet, gentle, mellow, and happy pup. His tail never stops wagging! He loves all people and wants to say hello to every person and dog. He's incredibly curious about everything - he's always sniffing around, trying to find all the bugs, worms, and animals (dead or alive). He tries to eat all types of things that he finds on our walks, but if you just keep a close eye on him he shouldn't get into anything too bad. He is smart, learns things very quickly, and listens pretty well: he knows sit, down, come, leave it, and drop it, although he does choose to ignore these commands sometimes when he finds a particularly interesting object or animal on the ground. He is kennel and potty trained. He does well in his kennel over night and during the day when I'm at work. I've learned the hard way that because he's so naturally curious, he will get into anything that is sitting out at home, so it's best to keep him in a crate while you're out of the house. He gets along great with my resident dog who is normally always in his face, but he tolerates that really well. I think he'd love having another dog to play with, but he'd also be good for someone who just wants one dog as he loves his person. He also spent a weekend with a 13 and 8 year old and he did so well with them - he had so much fun playing! My favorite thing he does is when he wants pets, he will paw at you and scrunch up his nose in the cutest way. He's definitely not a wild or crazy pup, but he of course has bursts of puppy energy sometimes! But most of the time he'll just nap right next to you, which is his favorite place to be.

A portion of Moana's s adoption fee has been sponsored by her friends at The Murray Fund. The adoption fee sponsorship credit of $400.00 will be applied during the contract process Hi! My name is Moana and I am an owner surrender. This special needs beautiful little girl has made wonderful strides in the 2 months that I've had her. She's getting stronger bit by bit. She is personality plus! She loves to snuggle, loves to play and just gets sooo very excited when you talk to her, get down on the floor to play with her and if the big resident dogs are even just near her. She has a feisty side, too, and does not like to be left out of anything!! She is making great progress in potty training and she'll usually vocally alert you-day or night- when she has to go...but know that she'll still have some accidents. At this point, she doesn't have the coordination to be upright to eat on her own so I still hold her securely in my lap to feed her several small meals a day and also to keep her hydrated (I soak her kibble and still give her some soft food. She will not drink straight water so we are still working on that and by soaking her kibble, it flavors the water and she'll drink it to get to the kibble.) She loves all people and dogs. She hasn't had contact with cats yet that I know of. She'll need flat, safe surfaces when she's in her wheels. She does best on carpets or rugs or grass when upright in her harness to practice balance, strength and walking. She'll need to continue strengthening her muscles and working on her balance. At this point, she cannot get up from the floor on her own. Once she's on her side, she can only move around by scratching/shuffling. She does great for car rides. She sleeps nicely in her soft sided kennel at night, only alerting me by whimpering once or twice per night that she has to go out to potty. She is one of the happiest pups that I've ever fostered and will give her forever family sooooo much love!! From the vet team: Hello! I arrived at Secondhand Hounds as part of the Fighter Fund program due to my Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) diagnosis. CH is a condition resulting from inadequate development of the cerebellum which causes lack of balance/coordination, ambulating, head bobbing, tremors, etc. The SHH Vet Team has provided my foster with physical therapy exercises to help gain strength but I will always have this condition. I have a wheel chair and a harness to help with movement but it is also recommended that my future adopter lay down rubber mats to help with my movement. My future adopter should understand my condition and monitor my health with a primary veterinarian. Also, I have an upcoming surgery with an opthamologist due to ablation of eyelashes which will freeze and kill the hair follicles to help prevent regrowth of these abnormal hairs. This surgery and eye recheck appointment will be covered by SHH as long as it is performed at Animal Eye Speciality Center/Secondhand Hounds Vet Center.

Story
Hi, my name is Rocky! I'm an owner surrender from Minnesota! From the foster: Hello! My name is Rocky. It's nice to meet you. My family needed to surrender me to SHH because they were no longer able to take care of me. I get along very well with my foster family's Black Lab and fellow Australian Cattle Dog Mix and playing with them is one of my favorite activities. I love belly rubs, getting my ear scratches, and resting my head on my foster parents. I also love LOVE my crate, whenever my furry foster siblings get a little too rambunctious to me I know I can go in my kennel and take a break. I am generally a mellow fellow but sometimes get the 'zoomies' and try to get everyone to play with me. I have hard time understanding my foster kids when they are roughhousing, so I try to play with them like I do with my foster dogs and get a little too mouthy with them. I think for now it would be best if I was with a family with adults and fur babies of their own - I would love other dogs to play with. From my foster family: Rocky is an adorable, lovable dog. He is amazing with my husband and myself, often snuggles up with us and gives us hugs. His favorite thing to do is play and hang out with our resident dogs. Rocky really enjoys his kennel; we often find him relaxing and taking naps there. Rocky will be connected with SHH training team to help with his 'mouthy' behaviors. We have no doubt that all the changes that he has experienced over the past month have contributed to his mouthiness and will subside when he is in his forever home and has consistency with a loving family.
