Select the "Apply for Adoption" if you would like to adopt Hi, my name is Linguini and I am from Arkansas! Linguini is looking for an active adopter who will take him on their adventures (even if that adventure is just playing in the backyard). He is active, curious, and extremely friendly. Linguini is a typical young cattle dog: super smart and eager to please, but also high energy and can be a little mouthy. Once he has finished his heartworm treatment, Linguini would love doggie playgroups, agility training, running, hiking, and visiting dog-friendly places with his family. He would enjoy having a doggy friend to play with, but would be ok as a solo dog, too. He is being fostered with cats, but he is highly interested and tries to herd them, which some cats might find too much to handle. He has never met a stranger, and is eager to welcome any visitors. From the Vet: Linguini has been staged for treatment of heartworm disease. His treatment process will 1 month of antibiotics, then a series of 3 injections. The first injection is scheduled generally immediately after the antibiotic course and 2 injections 30 days after the first. It is very important for him to stay a calm couch potato during treatment as an elevated heart rate can cause complications with the meds as the heartworm are being killed. Lots of brain games ie. obediance training indoors, leashed potty breaks or very short walks are ok! We recommend keeping him on heartworm prevention year round to avoid ever having to deal with this treatment ever again, but we have every confidence that he will be a happy and healthy companion for his forever family on the other side of treatment!
