If you're looking for a best friend who is equal parts adventure buddy and devoted cuddle companion, Sonic might be your perfect match. He is adoring, playful, affectionate, exuberant and effervescent. He loves life, spreading contagious enthusiasm wherever he goes. At 5 years old and 36#, this Border Collie mix knows how to balance his love of activity with downtime. Outside, he's ready to kick life into high gear. Whether he is chasing his beloved soccer ball or heading out for a walk, Sonic loves to be on the go. Back home, he's happy to settle, soaking up affection from his people or enjoying a peaceful nap while they work or go about their day. Sonic is a smart guy, true to his breed mix. He knows basic obedience commands, loves his crate and walks nicely on leash. He won't miss a squirrel sighting, so you don't have to worry about a clandestine invasion! He gets along well with other dogs, spending time with canine friends at daycare or boarding. He's comfortable meeting new people and dogs. We are not sure what he would think of kitties. He is looking for a deep connection with his people. Sonic's ideal family wants a four-legged best friend in all that life has to offer. They enjoy an active lifestyle with plenty of walks and playtime to keep him occupied. He's also proven to be a wonderful family dog, currently living with kids aged 7 and 10. A securely fenced yard is strongly preferred so he has room to stretch his legs and chase that treasured soccer ball. If your ideal dog loves to play and explore as much as he enjoys relaxing together in the evening, and you enjoy giving affection as much as you receive it in return, Sonic could be your perfect match. APPLY to adopt him at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Sonic is being fostered in Minneapolis, MN. His adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. Upon adoption, all of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. As a foster-based rescue, we do not have a central facility to visit. Meet and greets with specific dogs are arranged once your adoption application (not an inquiry through Petfinder) has been received, processed, and approved. We are located in Minnesota and adopt to an area 400 miles from Minneapolis/St. Paul.

Curious. Bouncy. Gentle. Sweet. Brave. Lasso is a handsome, 2-year-old, 38# Border Collie who is learning that the world can be a safe and wonderful place. At first, he may watch from a distance, quietly taking everything in with thoughtful eyes. With patience, consistency, and kindness, you'll witness something truly special. His confidence blossoms, his playful side emerges, and his affectionate heart shines brighter every day. Lasso is the perfect companion for a family that appreciates the intelligence and sensitivity of herding breeds. He enjoys daily walks, romping around the yard, and chasing his canine friends in joyful games of tag. When playtime winds down, you'll find him happily sorting through the toy box or curled up with a Kong. If food is involved, Lasso is all in. Treats are the fastest way to his heart. Lasso is searching for a home that understands trust is mutual, and it is earned with kindness, patience and time. He must have a mature, confident canine sibling in his new home. He seeks out his crate when he needs a quiet place to relax. His ideal family will provide a daily routine, celebrate every victory, and allow him to move at his own pace. Respectful kids aged 12+ could be a good match. A fully fenced yard is required to allow him a safe place to romp and play. He's working on leash manners and basic obedience, making steady progress every day. We think he would be ok with dog-savvy cats. The family lucky enough to earn Lasso's love and trust will discover an extraordinary companion. If you are willing to meet him where he is today and be part of his journey, Lasso promises a lifetime of loyalty, quiet companionship. The incredible joy of watching a once-cautious dog become the very best version of himself is impossible to describe. APPLY to adopt him at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Lasso is being fostered in Minneapolis, MN. His adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. First, his looks catch your eye. Then you learn about his personality and you're hooked! Blaze is a 54#, 5-year-old Border Collie with a sunny personality and a zest for life that's as bright as a perfect summer day. He thinks every day should include a game of fetch or frisbee and plenty of time spent with his favorite people. Happy-go-lucky, affectionate, and adventurous, Blaze loves being part of the action, whether that's a morning walk, a trip to the park, or a backyard barbecue. His energy level is a wonderful balance: he's always ready for fun and activity, and he's equally happy to relax and enjoy downtime with his family afterward. Blaze would thrive with an active, herding breed-experienced family that appreciates both his intelligence and enthusiasm. He walks beautifully on leash without pulling and is well-socialized in the world. He's crate trained and keeps four on the floor. He knows a few basic obedience commands and wants to learn more. With his smarts, a little time and some good treats, and we bet he can learn anything! A fenced yard would be ideal for Blaze so he has room to stretch his legs and enjoy his favorite games. He can happily live as an only dog or with a canine companion. He is a herding dog, which includes nipping at ankles if given the opportunity. Families with older kids are the best fit no littles, please. He likes to check cats out, but is not aggressive. He could live with dog-savvy felines. Blaze will be an even happier boy when he loses roughly 7-8 lbs. If you're looking for a loyal adventure buddy who will happily join you for all of life's summer fun, and then curl up nearby when the day is done, Blaze may be your perfect match! APPLY to adopt him at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Blaze is being fostered in Clear Lake, MN. His adoption fee is $450 + MN sales tax. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. Story
Meet Cupcake, affectionately known as Cece. Simply stated, she is a delight! This 36#, 12.5-year-old Sheltie and Border Collie mix who proves that age is just a number. She has plenty of pep in her step, a lovely prance when she is happiest, and a zest for life that charms everyone she meets. Describing Cupcake is easy. She's friendly, affectionate, confident, curious, observant and just a bit spicy. She wants to be close to her people, joining in on whatever they are doing. Whether its accompanying them on a leisurely stroll, supervising backyard activities, or simply lounging nearby for ear and butt scratches, Cece enjoys being part of the family. Her ideal day includes a couple of walks where she can stop and investigate interesting smells along the way. Her ears perk up, her tail rises proudly, and off she goes, ready to explore the world one sniff at a time. A few tosses of a Frisbee or ball, rolling in the grass, watching birds from the deck, and savoring peanut butter frozen treats are also high on her list of favorites. Cupcake would thrive in a home that appreciates a medium-energy companion. She doesn't need a fenced yard if she can spend time exploring safely on a leash. She's fine with another calm, low-key dog or as the canine center of attention. She does well with cats and even naps alongside her feline friends. Because quick movements can startle her, Cupcake would do best in a home without young children. She prefers to dine alone without concern for another dog trying to get at her food dish. She is completing a 30-day course of doxycycline for Lyme disease as a precaution: she is not symptomatic. She is a healthy, happy girl with lots of love to give. If you're looking for a loyal companion for walks, adventures, and cozy evenings, Cece may be the perfect match. APPLY to adopt her at hoabcr.org/how-to-adopt Cupcake is being fostered in Lindstrom, MN. Cupcake's adoption fee is $250 + MN sales tax. She is spayed and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. Upon adoption, all of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention.

Story
Location: Elk River, MN If you're looking for a smart, loyal companion who loves toys and is always down to play, meet Ari! This handsome Border Collie/German Shepherd mix is fully house-trained, kennel-trained, and has excellent leash manners. Ari is a fun-loving guy who needs a little time to warm up to other dogs, but once he’s comfortable, it’s a non-stop play fest. Because he has that classic herding dog intelligence and high energy, he can get a bit overwhelmed by the quick movements and unpredictability of toddlers, so he's looking for a home with no small kids where he can truly shine. Fully neutered, microchipped, and up-to-date on vaccinations, Ari is ready to bring a whole lot of love to his perfect forever home! --------------- The best way to show interest in an animal is to submit an adoption application by visiting our website (www.rescuenetworkmn.org). Adoption fee includes spay/neuter, all age-appropriate vaccinations (distemper, rabies, and bordetella), heartworm and flea/tick preventatives, heartworm test (dogs), FIV/FeLV test (cats), dewormed, and microchip implant (including registration). Rescue Network is strictly foster based which means all adoptable animals are in a home and there cannot be a meet until an application is submitted and approved. We have no way of knowing the breeds in the animals. All breeds listed are best guess.

Hi, my name is Odie and I am from Oklahoma! Looking for a fun, friendly dog? This 9-month-old boy checks all the boxes! He's the perfect medium size, loves other dogs, does great with kids, and is always ready for playtime. Whether it's a game of fetch, a backyard zoomie session, or making new friends, this happy pup is eager to join the fun. He's past the tiny puppy stage but still has all the goofy, lovable energy that makes adolescence so much fun. He's a sweet, social guy who would love a foster home where he can continue growing, learning, and sharing his joyful personality.

Story
Meet Bella, a 2025 limited edition of a Border Collie x Australian Shepherd. This stunningly gorgeous gal was surrendered to NWMNAR due to recognizing they were not able to give Bella the attention she needed while they were on the road travelling. Rest assured, Bella is a sweetheart when it comes to her nature and she loves to be around people and has shown nothing but good manners. However, Bella like many people does not enjoy being a storm chaser and will show some separation anxiety and will need some reassurances from her people while they hide out in the bathtub with her while it is storming. (Because that's what we all do, right?) If you would like to give this gal a try, don't hesitate to reach out!! Bella has recently been spayed, is up to date on vaccinations, microchipped, heartworm and tick-borne disease negative, and positively looking for her new furever home. Fine Print: All dogs of NWMNAR are screened at the headquarters in Ada, Mn until they are vetted. They are then transferred to foster homes throughout MN and some into ND so they can get used to lifestyles with a family in a home. Adoption fee for an adult dog is $300 + Mn tax. Adoption fee for a dog over 3 years of age is $300 + Mn tax., pup/dog1 year to 3 years is $400 + Mn tax. Under 1 year of age $500 + Mn tax. Free adoption applications can be found on our website at: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/NMA/Dog. Because NWMNAR is not a public shelter, meet and greets do not take place until an application has been approved and a home visit has been completed in person or virtually. Meet and greets will take place in a public setting along with the adoption if compatible. Dogs can be met in Ada, MN weekday and weekends, or in our alternate office location in Maple Grove, MN on weekends only. Once we receive your submission, our application review team will be in touch with you. Please have patience while they look over your application.

These pups are in Minnetrista, Minnesota too!

Story
Hi, I’m Cayden. I’m a 5 yr old, 42# Australian Shepherd with luxurious hair, soulful eyes, and a deep love for my people. When we meet, I’ll roll over and let you rub my belly. That’s how you know we are officially friends! I’m a chill guy who likes to see new places with my people and spend time together. My "off switch” means I’m perfectly happy being home and hanging and do not need to train for a marathon. Walking around the neighborhood is my idea of a good time - all those smells! I also enjoy activities like car rides, pontoon adventures, and quality cuddle sessions. I’m cuddly, calm, thoughtful, and just a tiny bit clutsy. Hardwood floors and I are currently in negotiations. (Sometimes my feet go one direction while the rest of me goes another!) I’m friendly with new people and dogs. I could live with another low-key pooch or be the only dog in my home. My foster family thinks cats would be ok for me. Honesty is important in any relationship. You should know that I get distracted by things like fast moving bikes, rollerblades, or very energetic dogs. I may need help managing my big feelings about all that movement. If you’re observant, patient, and understand herding breeds, we’ll do great together. My dream match? Quiet homebodies with kind hearts, no young kids, and lots of love to give. I don’t need a huge yard or nonstop entertainment. I just want my person. Maybe that’s you. So… what do you think? Want to do this "life" thing together? Cayden had a balloon angioplasty on June 16 to help his heart work more efficiently and came through the procedure like a champ! He is excited to meet his forever family and live a full, fun life! Cayden is being fostered in Minneapolis, MN. His adoption fee is $250 + MN sales tax. He is neutered, microchipped and up to date on age-appropriate vaccines. Upon adoption, all of our dogs go to their new homes with a collar and harness, leash, starter food, blanket, favorite toys & treats. They are current on flea/tick and heartworm prevention. Story
Hello there! I'm Trinket, a 9-year-old Australian Shepherd with a heart as big as my smile. My theme song is "Take a Chance on Me" by ABBA. All I need is one chance to show you what a wonderful companion I am. Friendly, loyal, eager to please, and always ready to learn something new are great words to describe me. My foster family says I'm a happy, kind soul, which works too. Every person and dog I meet is my new best friend (and that includes folks at the vet's office)! At 62 pounds, there's a lot of me to love right now. I already feel better having lost some weight and am determined to keep going. Like everything in life, I'm approaching my fitness journey with optimistic determination. I'm looking for a family that will help me achieve my healthy weight with lots of fun together along the way. When I'm not busy winning hearts, you'll find me chasing my beloved herding balls, squeaking a favorite toy, or hoping my family might break out the watermelon - yum! My ideal home is on the quieter side with an active spin. I like to spend my days doing things with my favorite people, going for walks, and enjoying plenty of snuggle time. I am great on leash, and love to chase critters if given the opportunity (part of my workout routine). A fenced yard would be fantastic, or consistent leash management works for me too. I can happily live as an only dog or share my home with other canine friends. I've also lived with cats in the past. Calm, respectful children who want to play with me would be great! They tell me I have early kidney disease, which means my food and medications cost about $55/mo. The payback is HUGE: all the love, loyalty, and joy of a world-class wonderful companion. So, what do you say? Take a chance on me! Promise I'm worth it. Trinket is being fostered in East Bethel, MN. His adoption fee is fully sponsored for his lucky forever family. Trinket is also available for Foster-To-Adopt (FTA). FTA provides an opportunity for families to get to know a dog before moving forward with formal adoption. During the foster period, HOABCR supplies everything Trinket needs from food and medication to other supplies (crate, leashes, etc.) and covers all vetting. Paul.
