Story
You can fill out an adoption application online on our official website. She is Xena The Warrior PrincessXena was born approximately July 15, 2021.  She is a GORGEOUS Border Collie/Rhodesian Ridgeback mix or Tri-Colored Rhodesian Ridgeback.  Her personality is true to her breed! Xena's foster mom and dad have 3 other dogs that she likes to play with and share toys with, but she has also learned to be by herself.  Her foster mom says she needs an active family with another dog or multiple dogs. Xena needs room to run to get her energy out.  She likes going for long walks and exploring the wilderness. Xena sleeps with her foster mom and dad in bed with all the other dogs. It gets a bit crowded but she does love sleeping with the pack. This makes her feel safe. Xena does not like to be in a kennel or crate.  So, a family that is at home would be ideal. She likes eating ice cubes!  Xena says 'When mom gives me fresh water in a bowl she puts in extra ice cubes for me. That makes me feel special and loved.'  Xena loves riding in a vehicle and knows not to jump around and act like a baby. She can walk on a leash pretty well as long as she has her harness on; Xena is not a fan of collars. She also knows a few commands like “stay”, “no” and “potty”.Xena will bark at strangers until she gets to know them.  Her foster dad has taught her to fetch.  She loves chasing the ball and bringing it back, it’s the letting it go part that she has a hard time with BECAUSE she also loves to play tug of war.  Xena is also a fan of the Laser Light.  She thinks they are fascinating!Xena is Special Needs because if and when she gets too excited she has seizures.  The vet attributes this to a blow to the head as a puppy.  Therefore, she needs to be in a home that understands how to deal with occasional seizures.Visit this organization's web site to see any additional information available about this pet.March 12, 2026, 7:32 pm

Story
Want a dog that will be absolutely obsessed with you? Adores humans? Will give you unconditional love and hugs? Meet Mikka! At 3 years old and 40 lbs she's a spunky Border Collie mix. This girl loves life with people! Here are her simple pleasures: - Being with people - Going on car rides - Going on walk - Her favorite ball and fetch Mikka is super smart and catches on to new things quickly, that's the collie in her! She knows: - Sit - Down - Shake - Wait (to eat and to get out of the crate) - Crate up Her flaws (only a few): - Would be best as an only dog - Is a bit on the active side - Gets nervous with kids under 10 Mikka is very dog selective. Her unknown past has taught her she needs to do the getting before they get her. Because she is so well mannered she's not reactive as long as the dogs don't come up to her. This means you can still enjoy calm walks without her barking or lunging. She'd thrive the most as an only child as she LOVES HUMANS! Kids quick unexpected movement can make her nervous but once she gets to know them she's excited to say hello but doesn't understand her size so older dog save kids are okay. Mikka is a very sweet girl that wouldn't hurt a human fly and would be a great companion, she will love you with all her heart. To adopt Mikka, please apply at www.htxdogrescue.org.

Story
UNTIED FROM A TREE TO UNLEASH HER LOVE AND DEVOTION  DOB 4/1/21, weight 54# Hey there, everyone! I’m Isha, a very sweet, outgoing, and eager-to-please black Border Collie/ shepherd mix gal with a white dot on my chest who socializes with everyone – adults, kids, and medium/ large dogs as well as cats and small dogs as long as we’re properly introduced. From my outward appearance, it looks like my canine heritage has been herding sheep, and although I haven’t found any sheep in Houston, I have inherited the shepherdess’ intelligence, intense loyalty, devotion to duty, and untiring work ethic. I humbly believe that those four qualities make me the perfect canine companion! My previous owners kept me in their yard, tied to a tree where my friendly energy was suppressed. I was miserable, but thank heavens, the gardener noticed my plight and convinced my owner to surrender me to HOPE because they could find a family who would provide me a more enriched life. I’m so much happier interacting with all the people, dogs, and cats in my foster home as well as whom I meet on my daily walks! I’m proud to say that leash-training, housetraining, and kennel-training were all a snap. (Remember I told you that I’m very intelligent – just give me a job to do!) Now I’m ready to bring my sweet affection, lithe agility, and intrinsic devotion to bless my forever family. Could that be you? Arrange to meet me today! I’m eager to be your perfect canine chum and to enrich your life as well as mine! HOPE ID D26-0325-0017 Isha’s $200 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas. To apply online:http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php If you have questions prior to filling out the application or want to find out which adoption site that Isha will be this weekend, email us at lisagilchrist16@gmail.com, and a volunteer will get back to you June 14, 2026, 4:02 pm

Story
Montana is an affectionate 4-year-old Lab/Pit mix who’s ready to be your loyal companion for life. This sweet girl is a fetch fanatic who lives for playtime and loves nothing more than chasing balls with her favorite humans. She’s both treat and toy motivated and ready to learn new tricks. Montana gets along fine with other dogs, but she’s truly a people-focused pup who wants to be your number-one play partner. On a recent Doggie Day Out adventure, she proved to be a calm car passenger and a wonderful trail companion. She enjoys sniffy walks and likes to lead the way without pulling on the leash. Though Montana can be a little shy when meeting new people, she warms up quickly with patience (and a few tasty treats). Once she feels comfortable, she enjoys gentle petting and cuddle time with her friends. If you can toss a tennis ball, you’re already in her inner circle! Montana was placed on final because shelter life has become overwhelming for her. Repeated encounters with unfamiliar people reaching into her kennel have left her feeling uneasy, and she may growl or show her teeth to ask for space. But outside the kennel, Montana’s true personality shines—sweet, playful, and full of love. Montana will thrive in a calm, patient home that gives her time to decompress and build trus ##2599337##

Story
Introducing Tito!  Tito was known as Rocky at Harris County, but without the amazing support from Tito’s Vodka, we may not have been able to pull him. Tito’s played a huge part in helping us reach our goal for our shelter pull, and we felt it was only right to name one of these deserving dogs after them! Tito came into the shelter as an owner surrender, though the reason remains unknown. What we do know is that he is in great shape, absolutely adores people, and deserves a second chance at the life he’s always deserved. Now, he’s safe with us forever. This handsome boy is incredibly sweet, loving, and ready to find his place again. Tito gets along wonderfully with other dogs and loves to play, making him the perfect addition to just about any home! We are currently looking for a foster for this special guy. Scout’s Honor covers all medical care and provides supplies — you just provide the love.  If you’re interested in fostering Tito, please visit www.scoutshonor.org and fill out an application!June 8, 2026, 7:21 pm

Story
Champ is a fun loving dog with a personality as big as his ears—seriously, they could be goal posts for a football team! He loves chasing toys and, in true Champ fashion, will toss them in the air with pure joy. His playful nature shines when he’s with other dogs, always eager for fun. But he also has an affectionate side; and when you want to chill he’ll happily settle by your feet, content to chew on his favorite toy while staying close. Champ’s playful nature and loving heart make him a perfect friend to have by your side.   To learn more or to meet Champ call 281-339-2086 any day except Wednesday between 11AM and 5PM or you can fill in an app at https://bayareapetadoptions.org/adoption-application/ ##2196523##
