Story
Bea is a gentle, quiet, and calm companion. She is still learning how to be a dog and is slowly coming out of her shell more each day. Right now, Bea is most often found lounging on her dog bed and quietly following me around the house. She deserves a quiet home she can learn to trust. Email BARCfoster@houstontx.gov to get to know more about her!

UNTIED FROM A TREE TO UNLEASH HER LOVE AND DEVOTION  DOB 4/1/21, weight 54# Hey there, everyone! I’m Isha, a very sweet, outgoing, and eager-to-please black Border Collie/ shepherd mix gal with a white dot on my chest who socializes with everyone – adults, kids, and medium/ large dogs as well as cats and small dogs as long as we’re properly introduced. From my outward appearance, it looks like my canine heritage has been herding sheep, and although I haven’t found any sheep in Houston, I have inherited the shepherdess’ intelligence, intense loyalty, devotion to duty, and untiring work ethic. I humbly believe that those four qualities make me the perfect canine companion! My previous owners kept me in their yard, tied to a tree where my friendly energy was suppressed. I was miserable, but thank heavens, the gardener noticed my plight and convinced my owner to surrender me to HOPE because they could find a family who would provide me a more enriched life. I’m so much happier interacting with all the people, dogs, and cats in my foster home as well as whom I meet on my daily walks! I’m proud to say that leash-training, housetraining, and kennel-training were all a snap. (Remember I told you that I’m very intelligent – just give me a job to do!) Now I’m ready to bring my sweet affection, lithe agility, and intrinsic devotion to bless my forever family. Could that be you? Arrange to meet me today! I’m eager to be your perfect canine chum and to enrich your life as well as mine! HOPE ID D26-0325-0017 Isha’s $200 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip and registration, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas. To apply online:http://www.homelesspets.net/adoption-forms/dog-adoption.php If you have questions prior to filling out the application or want to find out which adoption site that Isha will be this weekend, email us at lisagilchrist16@gmail.com, and a volunteer will get back to you April 24, 2026, 11:50 pm

Story
A JOY TO HAVE AROUND DOB 11/10/25, weight 35# A happy-go-lucky girl, Meadow is a joy to have around.  She loves all people and playing with other dogs.  She is very food driven, loves toys, (especially plushy / squeaky toys) and she loves to play with her sister, Willow. She is sweet, rather obedient for a 5-month old puppy, and loves to fetch and bring back her ball. Meadow and her sister Willow were found in her foster mom’s neighborhood dodging traffic, trying not to get hit by a car.  Their sister wasn’t so lucky, but these two girls were lucky because several people in the neighborhood came together to make sure they were rescued and got the vet care they needed. Meadow is working on her leash manners and her potty training.  She knows “come” and “sit”, how to use the doggie door and is quite submissive with other dogs. She alerts her foster mom to the delivery person by barking but only when necessary, and she does not seem afraid of thunder nor rain.   Meadows ideal home would have another canine, perhaps a big brother that needs a little sister, a yard to romp in, a doggy door, and maybe some kids to grow up with. HOPE ID 26-0313-0016 Meadow’s $200 adoption fee includes spay/neuter, basic vaccines, microchip, testing for heartworms, negative fecal test, and preventative treatment for heartworms and fleas. Story
Meet Debbie: Shelter Survivor, Heart Melter She’s deaf, but she hears love loud and clear. Debbie is a 3-year-old female cattle dog with the kind of eyes that stop you in your tracks, soft, soulful, and silently asking, “Pick me?” She spent 712 days in the shelter. Day after day, she watched families pass her by, not understanding why she wasn’t the one. Just staring at the walls, dreaming of a soft bed, her own toy, and someone to finally choose her. Debbie is deaf, but don’t let that fool you she listens with her heart. She also knows sign language, sit, shake, down, she's got it covered. She’s the perfect balance of cattle dog: not too high-strung, but still full of life. She loves doing zoomies in the yard and playing with her jolly ball, then curling up for some well-deserved couch time. She’s currently living with an Aussie and two Yorkies and does great in a respectful pack. Debbie knows her boundaries and thrives when given space. she isn’t pushy, just happy to be included. True to her breed, she does have a small prey drive and enjoys chasing squirrels and cats, so a cat-free home would be ideal. Debbie is fully potty trained and does great in a kennel. One of her favorite parts of the day is watching her foster mom get ready in the morning she’s a loyal shadow who loves to be close. Skin care routine? She’s got your back (and your serum steps memorized). After everything she’s been through, Debbie deserves her own forever family and her own forever bed. If you think Deb is your next best friend apply today: https://www.shelterluv.com/matchme/adopt/DSTR/Dog Deb is being fostered in Houston Texas but is available for adoption many places around the country. The cost of transport is included in the adoption fee.
